How do I become a tattoo apprentist?

I am trying to get my foot in the door and become a tattoo apprentist but I keep getting turned away, what is the correct way to go about this? What kind of drawings should I have in my portfolio?

I'd back way up to the basics before you do anything. Your first lesson is learning how to spell apprentice. Unless you're very confused and want to be a dentist apprentice. That would be a good pun...apprentist.

Iv'e never heard of a tattoo apprentist........I do know an "aprentice" or two.........but spelling the word might be a good start.
