How long does it take to get a portrait tattoo

i just wanted to know how long it takes to get a portrait tattoo done, just wanted to get a basic idea so can i get a answer from you guys

Glad you're keeping it pleasant. It definitely depends on a lot of factors. I've seen some take up to about 8 hours, however if you're a jackass like Steveo and get your whole back done with a self portrait it might be a bit longer. Hah.

I'm thinking of joining this forum and becoming a member as well...Maybe someone could tell me how often the JimJones types drop their loose change on the forum. if there's anything I wanna' avoid it's wasting time in a 'serious' discussion forum dominated by some rude mouthed insecure jerk. If you really need to make yourself feel good by exposing someones question as pahetic and naive maybe you could go to a page that specalizes in that sort of thing. p.s. If you are refering to the 'usual' fist to grapefruit sized black&grey photo-like portraits (sometimes with a touch of white highlight)...one done a lot of depth and care taken to depict the person well...it will probably take more than an hour and less than three. Don't worry how long it takes though. An hour more or less never killed anyone.

the forum is open an anonymous and popular so its pretty rough, the wild west of tattoo forums if you will. If you are a tattoo artist, and upload regularly to the galleries, then you should see some good results out of the site, even overseas. the portraits that come out of our studio take 3 hours minimum I would say, for a smaller black and grey one. Larger full color portraits take from 4-8 hours, maybe in two sittings...

Hello, i normally take 2-3 hours for a normal sized portrait, but if its coloured, then can be as long as 4-6 hours, i try to get it done in one sitting, but also can take 2, to be successfully finisfed. cheers!!!!!!!
