you can start by posting a link to your artwork!
I am wrestling with this myself. You have to realize that most shops have some quality artists already on board, and that typical flash on there walls is either done in house or is the work of a well-known tattoo artist. With that in mind, you have to come across as proffesional; talented, creative, and inexspensive. The first thing I did was put together a good set of art; something like 10 pages and nearly 50 images; with copies in color and B&W. That done, I selected one sheet to mail out as a sample, along with a sheet of thumbnails (minature images) of all the sheets in the set. Then I typed a solid form letter; I explain who I am, what my goals are, set my prices, and ASK FOR A CRITIQUE. Even if they are not interested in buying the work, knowing what they think will help me build a set that they will buy. Finally, I add a self-addressed stamped envelope for their reply, I want it to be as easy for them as possible. All of it goes in a manilla envelope and shipped out to shops all over; I get addresses from tattoo magazines. I am not amking enough to quit my day-job yet; sending ten teasers out a week, but I am well on my way to buying my gun and gear so I can start laying some of my flash on to some flesh.

If you send out your work to these shops, what can you do about copyrighting these flash images, or do you just have to not care about them. I'm an artist and I'm all about getting my work out there and it being put on bodies, but I wouldnt want it being exploited. Has anyone had trouble with this?
You sign your art and put a little "©" on it and you are as covered as you can be in this world...Gotta be realistic about it, the best you can do is put out quality product, deal with reputable shops, and appeal to peoples sense of duty to another artist. Maybe you sign each sheet by hand and let everyone know that if you haven't signed it it's bootleg and won't be worth as much when you are famous! It's nice to hear you are confident enough in your work to think it's worth stealin... :-)
WELL I KNOW OF SOME COMPANY THAT WILL SELL YOUR FLASHES FOR A CUT BUT YOU ARE BETTER OF SELLING THEM BY YOURSELF IN E=BAY. IF YOU WANT THE COMPANY NAMES THEN CONTACT ME VIA E-MAIL.
Are you still selling tattoo flash?? I been looking for a sacred heart flash for about 8 months and so far, I haven't. I wanted to look very real with lots of blood and bardwire too with some flames I want it to look like a 3 D i want the blood dripping out. Can you please help me?? I want it to be 5 inch x 5 inch.....
Oh yeah....All uf us out here in the trenches fightin off the scratchers are gonna buy your flash to help you buy a "GUN" JEEEEESSSSHHHH!!!!! GUN AGAIN!..Better yet I'll just send you a "KIT" Hows that?
Its a transdermal direct current pigment implantation divice. A rose by any other name.....GET OVER YOUR SELF some people like to call it a gun!!!!
Maybe we should push to get it called a tattoo instrument because machine implies its just a sloppy built machine and not a fine precise well tuned instrument.
God I love gettin the idiots goin!!!...What up Krystof? Should it be called a GUN?
OH yeah...custom pens....device is spelled DEVICE! Einstein
By the way to Caribou... That little c with the circle around it signifies the the image in question has been "copywrited" and is on file in the federal govn't s office of trademarks copywrites and patents. When you posess a valid registered copywrite you have legal recourse to sue if said image or images is used without your express written consent. Just adding the symbol is worthless if it is not registered. Taz
Referring to it as a "Tattoo instrument" would be great if it were a finely tuned well oiled creation. But there not, there "machines", like any other, made for a purpose. Like a "Gun" which is made for "shooting". Now when a tattoo "machine" is capable of "shooting" ink, than I suppose referring to it as a "Tat Gun" will be appropriate. But until then let us in the industry keep our little phrases, and titles. They help separate the top from the bottom... JOE
If they don't want to play nice, then they need to take their "gun" and go away.

not bad but kinda cartoony
Funny how a thread on how to sell or copyright flash turns into more drama over what name is used for the machine gun do hicky whats it fucka ma jobber. But at least the man had a really good way of going about getting your name, your art, and maybe a few extra bucks in their pocket. Course he should use the money on more art supplies or some beer or something not a machine. I do realize you fellas are pretty damn tired of hearing about GUNS and soon to be scab artists sprouting up , so I'll say it for ya lol. Dude sell your art use it to get yourself an apprenticeship under one of these shops that is interested in your work. But you really wouldn't be doing anyone a favor by trading in your pens and pencils for needles and ink.
Hey for all those looking to sell flash ou should check out BullseyeTattoos.com I have a set with them that I did with another guy. They are real cool and lagit. there break down is something like 60/40 if they print your work. you doint have to worry about sending anything out yourself or printing anything like with e-bay. also they give 20% for pics they on their site individually. You keep all rights to your work. bullseye has some of the best in the tattoo world. send them your work, see what happens. i've known guys that have worked with other sites that do this, they're crook, try to pay you once and keep your images for ever... not cool. here's where you can find more info... http://www.bullseyetattoos.com/submit/ and this mine and my partners stuff... http://www.bullseyetattoos.com/proshop/Rhyan_Scorpio_Rhys/
My fiancee is an extremely talented artist. He has a B.F.A. and is trying his best to restart a graphic design business. But for now, he is considering selling flash art just to pay the mortgage and groceries. His specialty is pen and ink...specifically dragons, angels, and demons. He is especially interrested in creating new designs of historic, religious, and mythological images. Each is unique and anyone interested would be getting completely original designs. Please send us any information that you may have on legitmate studios that buy high quality flash art. Thanks!
we need to see links of your husbands work! And, well, I wouldnt really expect to pay the mortgage and bills off of flash... If you hustle it will bring in some dough and get your name out there.... usually the best flash is draw by tattoo artists or apprentices so that its tattooable...
This is what you do ,have someone with pc skillz refine your flash useing PSP or photoshop , then take your art to an office store and have them make muti copys of you work on good grade paper then start and account on ebay sell there and sell to companys that sell tattoo flash on there website sipmly email them, also goto differnt tattoo shops and show them for sale dont forget to get them copyright protected there are thiefs out there, well i hope ive helped good luck , email me for more help anarchy
Go to www.inkredibletattooflash.com/HowToSell they have info there on that site. All they ask is for you to send at least 5 full sheets and the line drawings. They do the rest, printing it out putting the borders on your work and they also put their logo on it but not too big so that it doesn't take away from your work. They pay you 50% of the sold artwork.Say that you're selling your work for $60.00,they pay you $30.00.The other 30 goes to the work they done to prepare your artwork. It says something on there that they put your work on tattoodles.com and flash2xs.com
