how to tone down a life saver colored tattoo

7 messages · last activity 6/22/2006

i got some flames tattood on my arm as part of a coverup-but the colors, bright orange and bright red with black shading behind and between the flames look like the colors from a pack of lifesavers-way brighter than any other tattoos that i have-i want to have it recolored to give it a less garrish appearance-can teal /blue be used over an existing orange and still keep its true color or does it turn to a muddy color?i was going to use the teal on the flame tips to break up the overwhelming orange-then try to tone down the remaining orange and reds maybe with some browns to give more of a golden hue rather than the bright childish looking colors. sound do-able? thanx in advance anybodys 2cents welcome.
I could send you some pics of my incomplete pastel flamed legs, but don't steal my design DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!! LOL!! TCE
Can't tell you anything without seeing a pic first...e-mail?...TAz
TAz, It probably looks like my Sharpie colored legs before you talked me out of it. See, it probably seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm glad I asked your opinion before I had to deal with this same thing. Whew! You da man!!!!!!!! And damn good looking too............. TCE
sharpies applied to skin-that pretty much says it-i cant believe i got a coverup that needs to be redone -i kinda was grateful to have somebody do a coverup of the crap underneath -but man-nothing subtle here woohoo draw a bunch of squiggly lines and pack 'm solid with pumpkin orange and lipstick red- tattooing 101
Strummer...if you find a competent artist he/she can "tone down your colors to a limited extent...btw..do you have a problem with the sharpie thing?...TAz
thanx for the replies -btw-taz-sharpies are cool-several years ago an artist used a sharpie to freehand a standup bass on my arm-when he was done the tattoo was flawless -better than any stenciled on work that i've had done-this guy was and is a superb tattoo artist but he's not really into the same imagery as i am-so here i sit.. came across an artist on this site who is also an excellent freehand artist-hes got a few ideas to make my sleeve in progress look like a cohesive piece-looking forward to working with him-- and to all you guys who take the time to respond on here--thank you. p.s. taz -do you have pix posted yet?
