IM WHAT YOU GUYS CALL A SCRATCHER, ive given a couple of tattoos some turned out good and others were pretty bad. now i am getting what looks like to be a staph infection all over everyones skin.noboby wants to give free advice becasuse either they think they loose money or they are jealouse. ive got 3 guns and alot of inks my middle bedroom is almost like a tattoo shop, so i wish someoene would tell me how to adjust my gun properly for linning and shading, because im going to do it no matter what and NO I WILL NOT GO AND SEEK AN APPRENTICESHIP. this is a free country and if i want to exp. in the art of tattoos so be it! just give the free advice (if you even know it) and stop all the damn trash talking. and by the way does any one else have trouble with PRIZM INK? im going to be a tattooer with or without help, SO WELCOME ME ABOARD IM HAPPY TO BE ONE OF YOU GUYS! first of all I hope this is a joke,but if it's not the people you infected should seek medical attention right away.I myself tried tattoing with an "net kit"but I did my home work on bbp-cc .I also got an autoclave(not cheap!).I can tune machines to do anything you want,but it did'nt make me a good artist.so for now I stopped scratching and started drawing.If you have to have something to do with tattooing try drawing&selling flash or building machines. if you're any good I'm sure someone would take you on and show you what you need to know.For now you need to stop infecting people(prob friends&family right?wadda guy!)before you start an epidemic of god knows what.

fellow artist i'v figured something out on here. when a scratcher jumps on here asking for machine tunning tips, just try to help them. just ask them what thier duty cycle, fallow through, and main spring back pressure is, and they'll be so confused they'll leave you alone.

damn, i've looked at buying myself a kit (professional ones, the good ones) and have looked at kits, etc... but NEVER have i ever had the thought to go on Ebay to go and look for one, let alone buy one..!!! How do you know that that shit was used or not??? It's one thing to buy a cd, dvd, from small shit to a car, or motorcycle, etc.... but a tattoo kit on ebay??? Since Ebay is just an online shop at the end of the day, is it a safe generalisation that all tattoo kit bought from there is crap? I have seen some very large tattoo equipment suppliers trading on Ebay and supplying what looks like some very good kit. OK, you guessed it, I am a newbie and no judge of good or bad at the moment, but instead of posting that a piece of kit is crap without actually seeing it, can anyone share the details that really make a tattoo machine good. I was in the process of writing in another thread about how unhelpful some of the artists in this forum are, then I saw this guys post and now I understand why :)

if you are for real, and not some fuckhead just trying to get things stirred up, I must ask you to cease and desist your tattooing, you get the right motherfucker in there and put some shitty work on him, or give him a nasty infection, you could get shot, or worse. you take your life into your own hands when you do this. true story: Biker party in Kentucky, not a huge party, but about 350 people on a 3 day weekend, a scratcher named Doc shows up with his works, they let him set up, because he came in talking a good game. well I got there late friday night, with my rolling shop. heard someone was already set up, so I didnt open my doors that night. while out meeting people and just relaxing from the long ass trip, I decided to go see what this other guy was doing anyone with sence could see that he was inexperianced as hell, all his ink bottles had ink all over them(multiple colors on each bottle), oh ya, he was also set up in the open air, about 15 ft from a fucking out-house, and there were a few other nightmarish things he did, smoking weed, cigarettes, and drinking alcohol, while he was tattooing. and there was a complete abscence of any real sterilization. I could go on about every horiffic habit I seen, but I wont, just to keep this short(er) oddly enough, he was doing business, but had a shitty hand. I fuckin freaked, but I didnt say anything, I just cranked up the generator, and opened up, this is when it got bad for old Doc, people came to see what I had going on, My rolling shop is quite impressive, and clean, clean, clean. At this point everything seemed to come to a halt for him. but heres where it gets good, the next morning real early, while all these burly clubbies were still sober, the ones that got ink-work done realized that they got hit by a piece of shit scratcher, and snatched this asshole from his tent and beat him badly, then run him off, im certain that he needed reconstructive surgery. It was one of the best beatings ive ever seen. they took his equipment and destroyed it, beat his truck with bats and chains. then I made alot of money, and had a great time. do you understand the moral of this story? well, if not dip-shit ill spell it out for you. Another option is to buy fake skin (which is nothing else but a piece of rubber) and scratch there. Don't use humans as practice, since you don't even know how to tune the machine. Stay away from people! You can go to jail for malpractice. I recommend you tattoo 4 tons of melon before you even think about tattooing people. A tattoo machine is not a pen, and skin is not paper. Well this guy along with me is going to do tattoos, i think it is kinda terrible that most of you treat it like some top secret mission, I myself am learning everything on my own and having problems here lately, i took my class in BBP,And The first aid and cpr and TTIC . As far as my equipment i have the eikon ems 200,Pulse shader,Pulse liner,Soba set up as shader,And 2 cheap "MACHINES" as you all like to hear that was bought when i first got a "KIT" and i have petty good pigments ..MOMS...I try to order the best BUT, that can only go so far You need to know your equipment...I can run at around 6.70 on my soba shader with no follow trough 44 duty cycle speed around 103......It use to be great when i first got it Now I dont know...I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE SPRINGS...That is what i wish i knew.I dont have autoclave so i use disposable tips and grips...and use wavicide on what i can ...try to be as clean as possible...I have 2 kids & work full time job...Its hard to find someone to take someone on when u cant be there full time REALLY HERE in SC where they just started opening shops, I love it as a hobby and love doing it

As far as i know, the apprenticeship process has gotten easier since tattooing has been modernized. And why are we assholes for not giving you information? What makes you think you're entitled to this information for free? What do you think would happen if you went to a college or a vocational school and asked to take classes, but you told them you think they should be free? they would laugh in your face. Plain and simple, teaching yourself to tattoo is dangerous and illegal, and will take you years longer than an apprenticeship.

hi; not a professional either just starting to learn. trying to get some tips on setting up my shader. practising on artificial skin. bought good quality machines. starbright inks and 0-30 volt/ 0-3 amp variable labrotory powersupply. happy with the liner but unsure about how to set the shader. i've been designing for 11 years or so and love my artwork. have awlays wanted to learn how to tattoo but there aren't too many oppertunities for apprentaships in this area. any feedback would be appriciated. cheers. machines are viking mk.1- 8 wrap coil and using variable power supply: shader is drawing .61 amps; machine has a standard spring.

STOP what you are doing - it is vital you learn everything about bbp and cc - you need to learn how to be clean before you wanna be tuning that machine theres no point having a machine that runs nice but packs in hep c along with the pigment - kits on ebay arent the best but thats not to say ebay is not the place to buy from - right now there are 2 sailor jerry machines on there at 4,500.00 theyre a little expensive for me but beautifull machines anyway thats beside the point - MOST pro's wont tell you anything this pisses me off too as these are the guys that do it for the cash - but there are the tattoo artists who do it for the art and will share knowledge - if youy are seriouse about becoming a tattoo artist - learn what you can - if your doing it because you think it entitles you to rockstar status or it can grab easy cash - leave it there thers too many people like that trying to tattoo in any case whatever you decide go to www.forum.ink-trails.com and read read and then read some more - get some pig skin or melons to practice on and learn to draw

Every question that has been posted on here has an answer. Learning from someone who knows what there talking about. First, giving information over the internet so bubba can figure it out is bullshit. Learning how to properly tattoo is a first hand expierience. The problem is alot of you think it is very easy and you can figure it out yourself. You honestly can't be upset at someone who wont give you information. Alot of us who do know how to tattoo have worked very hard for it. Even scratchers who have taken 10 times as long to learn are not down to give out information half the time, why?? Cause they busted there ass to teach themselves. Anyone who is in it for the fact that they belive being a tattoo artist is a cool bad ass thing needs to not even attempt it. Go ride a skateboard or put some baggy clothes on till you feel cool enough. Tattooing is Art. One of the most beautifull forms of art in my opinion. It takes time, dedication and being willing to always learn new things. You all wonder why people get so upset about this. People who take tattooing very seriously do not give information because they want to be dicks. Its because even feeding some of you a small fragment of that information is enough for you to continue what your doing. There is alot more to it. And if you want information so bad and unwilling to get an apprenticeship atleast show some motivation to the art and go talk to a artist or go to a convention and watch people work. Don't depend on the internet to teach you something that is taught hands-on. And remember whether you like it or not, being a kitchen scratcher now will never gain you respect in the community of tattooing. Yes there are some of the greatest that taught themselves 20 years ago but whether you like it or not that is no longer the case. If you really, really want to be a respected artist in this industry take the proper steps and show you are willing to do what needs to be done to be one of the greatest.
