I got a tattoo 5 days ago, and I'm worried that it's messed up. It looked perfect when I got it done, but it's starting to look like the ink is spreading out of the lines. It is an all black tattoo, but along the edges where I can see under the peely part the ink looks blue. I have done exactly what they told me to do as far as aftercare. they said to use a+d once a day for 4 days and then use lubriderm once a day after that. They also said not to get it too wet, which I haven't. I'm wondering if this is normal or if they screwed up. I've heard that spreading can happen if the artist went too deep, I'm really hoping that this isn't the case. I'd love to hear from anyone that has any info, especially if this happened to them, and most especially if everything turned out perfectly :)!!! Thanks.
I'm afraid that my tattoo may suck!!

Some times tattoo need to heal completely too look the way the are supposed.
I got that problem with an inner biceps tattoo. Now if what you have is a big time smudge on your skin could also be due to malpractice.
I've see that problem happen to people with flabby skin tissue.
for now give that tattoo a good 6 weeks to heal completely before making slapping the artist. Would be good if you can post a picture of it to see the case.
"""could also be due to malpractice""""
you can sue for a bad tat?
.
unless you signed a waiver (even with a waiver you can, it's not that easy though)
You should wait and see how it looks after 45 days. Post a picture if you can.
There is nothing to worry about as far as the black looking blue under the "peely" part. That has happened with ALL of my tattoo's, even the color ones, where the color will actually appear to be a more pastel-type of color rather than a super bright color (ex. red will look pink); the healing skin on top of the ink is darker than transparent, it is more like your skin is trying to literally grow back with its original pigment -- it will go away, however, when the tattoo is in the "light-looking" stage of healing, it's probably ready to start itching really bad -- this is when you should take ample sun care -- keep it out of the sun and DO NOT SCRATCH it!
I swear, there's nothing wrong with your tattoo.

Let the tattoo heal up completely (3-4 weeks) and see what it looks like then and maybe post a pic.
God, I hope you cant sue for getting a bad tattoo, it shouldnt be the governments job to insure you get a good tattoo! (Clean and safe, yes, not good).
Thanks, everyone, but I think I may have been a little premature in freaking out. The tattoo has peeled a little, and the color is looking closer to what it is supposed to. There are a few spots that still look a little blurry, but I'm going to wait it out. Right now I'm pretty much trying not to look at it too often, since I tend to obsess. This isn't my first tattoo, but all of the others are in places where I can't see them easily, so I couldn't actually watch them heal. As far as posting a picture, I'd love to, but I don't know how to do it. I'll try to figure it out. Thanks again!!! xoxo
i've got the same problem with my new tattoo...the ink has started "bleeding" outside the lines. I hadn't realized at the time i got my tattoo that the artist was an apprentice. I NEVER would have gone to him if i had known that since i prefer someone with more experience. i have one other tattoo and had no problem with that one. my new one is still in the healing stage and is peeling a lot. once it's completely healed i'll be going back to my tattoo guy and asking him to fix it up (re-do the outline so the "bleeding" doesn't look so obvious). he already told me he does touch ups for free.
i'm pretty pissed about it though...this thing is forever and everytime i look at it, i get angry!!

Sorry to hear that man, try to do your homework next time :)
I'm sure your tat can be touched up to by a pro to look better
