I NEED THE CHINESE ALPHABET

14 messages · last activity 6/7/2006

hi, i need the chinese alphabet for the names JOHN and KRYSTLE!! we are planning on getting our names tattooed!!!
do you really think chinese people have the names john and whatever? it isn't a western language. there is a translation for the sound but it means absolutely nothing in chinese. it would like be like a chinese person writing 'buddha' in english romanization. we would think that was totally bizarre.
Yeah, I guess I dont see the chinese connection. If your looking for something mysterious that represents each of you you could get something custom done up by a tattoo artist. You could get a chinese dragon and he could get a chinese flower or some such. Just make sure you will really dedicated to being with your partner till the day you die before getting their name tattooed on you. Everything about tattooing is doing it right the first time and mistakes are very difficult to fix. This applies double so when your thinking about getting a partners name tattooed on ya. I can think of very few things that could be more frustrating than being on your deathbed at 90 and seeing your ex-husbands symbol tattooed right there on your wrinkly arm... argh! On the otherhand, I bet few things could be more fufilling or comforting (probably none!) than beating the curse and having your partners tattoo there till the very very very end when the lights go out.
ARE YOU CHINESE??? No...then don't get chinese on your body. Any slight change can mean something totally different, PLUS you shouldn't get someones name on your body especially if you are not married. Its one thing to get a husband's name ( which I don't think you should do) but to get a boyfriends name is really stupid. A symbol might be better than a name because you can always change the meaning if you have to. Don't do names...sometimes tattoo artists misspell them..then John could jon or jonh you never know
go to www.chinese-symbols.com They have a page of English names translated in Chinese. Good luck.
i also need the alphabet for research at school but cant find it on any website that has the chinese alphabet on it. i've tried google but not even that can find it.
Technically, there is no chinese Alphabet. Chinese brush script is a collection of over 45,000 characters. Any spelling you can do of your name in chinese is just going to be a loosley translated phonetic attempt.
To latisha...any tattoo artist who misspells a name on a client should have his/her thumbs removed...you make it sound like this is a commoc occurence...it is NOT...that is if you go to a PROFESSIONAL!!!! Nope, no Chinese alphabet per se....the Chinese language is based on a series of symbols called "ideograms",,,,,to spell evn Jonathan phonetically in chinese would be nearly impossible. Perhaps you meant Japanese?....now thats easy!! And probably what you are looking for...TAZ
>>>ARE YOU CHINESE??? No...then don't get chinese on your body.<<< IWhile I don't think it wise, or even possible to get a name like "John" 'translated' into Chinese symbols (unless you are refering to a bathroom or the client of a prostitute of course...), saying that you shouldn't get Chinese tattooed on your body if you are not Chinese is about as closed minded as saying "don't don't date, marry, speak Chinese, or even eat Chinese food if you are not Chinese...Be cautious, yes. Xenophobic, no.
Agreed ...a lot of people think its cool to have writing in an "exotic" language on their bods....If thats what they want who am I to say "no you can't have that"....But again....ya just can't do the Chinese thing with any accuracy...whatever ya do JUST BE CAREFUL!!!!!!
Dudes, I have a little Chinese on my tat to honor my love for teaching 12 years of chinese martial arts, various Asian Marry ins in my family, but I'm white as snow. Due to the fact that I am white as snow though, I had a litttle old Chines Grandma write it for me (she was pretty cute) then took it to 3 other chinese sources and had them read it. Only when I got the exact same interpretation 3 times did I feel comfortable putting it on me.
Well honistly that sounds ok, I mean I'm In to the whole getting your name in chines tattooed on you but why would you put some eles name on you?
No names, mine says "For my beloved daughters".
Accompanied by a very classy tattoo!...Not as good as the one I am designing for him but good nonetheless!
