I was the one that was talking about blisters on my tattoo and went to the doc and it was infected.... remember???? Well the redness is still there, slightly going away, but my foot is still sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo freaking swollen and hard to walk on and since I am trying to dry heal it, the tattoo is very tight and dry (of course) but I don't want it to crack and bleed and all, should I use a little lotion on it or will it make it worse???
No use no lotion...I know its uncomfortable but just stick it out for a day or two and you will see a BIG difference!! It will be OK...I promise!!...TAz
ewwwwwwwww dry heal that sucks.when ya gots to dry heal
Thank you so much, and I won't forget you when it heals I am going to send those pics..... fresh tattoo, infected tattoo, and healed tattoo! :) Thanks you guys ~Krystal from Louisville, KY.
No problem Krystal and we appreciate your posts...now do us a favor and tell all your friends about TattooNOW!! Don't be a stranger!...Taz of Painted Angel Studios!!
HEY, I WENT BACK TO THE DOC, IT WAS GETTING WORSE, SHE SAID I MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE A STAFF INFECTION AND WANTED TO ADMIT ME IN THE HOSPITAL BUT INSTEAD GAVE ME ANOTHER ANTIBIOTIC AND A SHOT OF PENTICILLAN (DONT KNOW HOW TO SPELL THAT). SHE TOLD ME TO KEEP IT COVERED.... AND DO WARM COMPRESSES TO KEEP THE TATTOO DRAINING ALL OF THAT NASTY SHIT UNDER MY TATTOO. I KNOW MY TATTOO I NOW GOING TO BE RUINED, SHE ALSO TOLD ME THERE IS NO SENSE IN WASHING IT LIKE I WAS CAUSE IT IS ALREADY INFECTED. SHE SAID TO COME BACK TO SEE HER MONDAY AND IF IT GETS WORSE GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. ALSO IF IT IS NOT BETTER BY MONDAY SHE IS ADMITTING ME INTO THE HOSPITAL. SHE TOOK A CULTURE OF THE FLUID AND TOLD ME TO KEEP MY LEG ELEVATED. SHE ALSO SAID SHE DOESN'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT TATTOO'S BUT IS NOT REALLY CONCERNED WITH IT, SHE JUST WANTS TO GET RID OF THE INFECTION...HER MAIN CONCERN. ARE THESE NO-NO'S IN THIS SITUATION AS FAR AS KEEPING IT COVERED....NOT WASHING....AND ALL ? I KNOW THAT THE INFECTION IS HER MAIN FOCUS, BUT I DON'T WANT TO RUIN MY TATTOO IF I CAN HELP IT (SINCE IT IS PERMANENT AND ALL). IS THERE A WAY AROUND IT? OR SHOULD I JUST SAY SCREW THE TATTOO AND NOT WORRY ABOUT IT?
LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!!! If it is indeed staph (and the only way to know that with 100% certainty is to do a lab test which you said she has done) it can have VERY serious consequences so do what doc says to do...don't worry about that damn tattoo...worry about YOU...you can always get the tattoo fixed sweetie...I know it sucks but keep your chin up and it will be ok....Drink LOTS of water and do not drink any alcohol whatsoever...alcohol can nullify the effects of the antibiotic, The bad thing about staph infection is that it can rapidly transmogrify into a SYSTEMIC infection...that means it can go through your entire body like wildfire with dire consequences if not treated in a timely manner...The good news is that staph is relatively easy to cure...almost any of the penicillin family of antibiotics will clear up a staph infection very quickly. I am NOT a doctor I am NOT giving you medical advice...I am just giving you information to help you understand a bit more about what is going on with your poor foot. I am so sorry you had this trouble and I hope that this one bad experience won't turn you against our art foreveIf ya need me just e-mail me and please keep me informed......I will say a prayer for you AND your tattoo.....Smile!!!....TAz
In defence of the art. I am sure the staff infection came AFTER the tattoo. A simple brush against something would do it. Just an unfortunate invasion of germs after the fact. Do as Taz says and just treat the infection. Worry about fixing the tat afterwards.
hows ur foot now!?!?!? xxx
To answer the questions or comments above..........................................................................................Well I keep my leg propped up at night while I sleep, so in the morning it is not swollen at all, but by night-time it looks like a balloon. I also think I spread some of the infection to my eye, maybe from touching the tattoo when I cleaned it before or wiping some of the junk off and touched my eye or wiped it before washing my hands.... though I don't remember doing it and I would know better than to do that, I must have done that without even noticing out of habit or something.... so now my eye: instead of the thin water surrounding my eyeball, it is slightly thicker and my eye is EXTREMELY itchy and irritated. What next?! I don't plan on ever getting another tattoo, and I should not have ever gotten this one to be honest. Everything I have ever done to myself has gotten infected. Eyebrow peircing...(rejected the stainless steel..infected), belly ring (did it myself when I was young...of course infected), I fell on a huge rock at a rock quarry right under my knee... big gash...infected, burned my calf on a motorcycle muffler (got off on the wrong side...infected), and even my second holes in my ears..infected.... now my tattoo... infected. I should have seen it coming, so I don't blame anyone. It is my body rejecting all this stuff I do to it.
Thank you all so much! I will tell anyone and everyone about this site!
ok correct me if im wrong the tattoo is on the foot right? question ya got any pets? have ya been around any pets.if this is a foot piece here is some factors. when you step down on you raise dust particales and spores and micro spores. those spores can be anything from a simple cold to staff. animals are notorious for carrying allergens and such with there dander.if ya got the green yellowish junk that is a secondary infection and should be treated with meds. sounds like ya been to a doc over this.now was this piece done in a safe clean enviroment. were bags opened and machines set up in front of you.was the needles eyelooped.do they make there own needles? if they do how do they clean the flux off the needles.i had what is known as a flux burn happen to a client and it sounds real similiar.i have since then which was years ago made damm sure to clean flux residue off.just some thoughts.
Hey remember me? I am so thankful that you have this site. It really helped to have someone to talk to (that knew what they were talking about) when I needed it. The tattoo was not actually on my foot, it was on the lower part of my leg, between the calf and ankle. However when it got infected.... my foot swelled real bad, like a balloon. After the last time I went to the doc, she referred me to The Wound Care Center at St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital here in Louisville, because the bandage kept sticking to the infected wound when it was trying to heal and would rip off what was healing when I changed the bandage (it didn't matter how careful I was). Sooooo, when I went there, the other doc ripped the bandage off my leg, including the skin that was stuck (I cried, that was a BITCH!), and gave me what is called a Hydrogel bandage (clear gel like lining on one side and smooth plastic on the opposite side).....IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! Since I had alot of thick scabbing from trying to dry heal and all the issues with not being able to use ointment and stuff the hydrogel bandage also helped to soften the scabs and they washed away the very next morning. I kept these bandages on for a week total, of course cleaning in between, and took the antibiotic, and my tattoo is just about completely healed. There is no infection. The doc did tell me that my skin did not like the orange or yellow ink that was used in some of the butterfly detail, it is not that color anymore :( but I do have a leg! The bandages are gone, can't shave yet, cause there is still a slight layer of scabbing, but I am good! Thank you so much ....AGAIN, I just wanted to keep you posted on the progress.
Welcome!
