Now they dont usually show you what they do but what did I see him do and tell how he applies the stencil. He first shaves and area and applies the stencil WITH WHAT??? O thats right speedstick the same thing I said and got my ass chewed for...hmm....

Maybe there are just a bunch of scratcher that don't know any better and should really get an apprenticship and not tattoo anybody till they learn the right way. YEA I THINK NOT!! That’s the way I have always seen it done. Enough said!!
This is so freaking stupid. I suppose if the guy who tattooed lizard man and the guys at miami ink re-used needles from one client to the next, it would be ok, just because you saw it on tv and just because the other guy tattooed a famous person? I saw an episode where Ami tattooed the Hawaiian islands on a guys stomach and guess what? The guy gave him a hug after the tattoo, BEFORE IT WAS WRAPPED UP!!! Cross contamination right before our eyes!!! Are you going to tell me that this is OK too, Miss Educated in the Medical Field??? If a famous tattoo artist drinks their ultrasonic water, that doesn't mean it's ok just because they're famous. Again, USE YOUR HEAD. NEWSFLASH: FAMOUS PEOPLE CAN MAKE MISTAKES JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE CAN.
O whatever I saw it so there..enough said...im entitled to my opinion as are you.
I didnt say anything about re-using needles thats just damn retarded I also toss mine out after I use them. I also own an autoclave so I can sterlize my needles if there in good shape. The fact was I had it done, Ive seen it done, I read that is how its done, so enough said. I know there are other ways to apply a stencil duh it im not that stupid!!
The facts about using speed stick were brought to your attention, so you're not oblivious to them, but you refuse to learn from the facts presented to you. You say you're not stupid, then tell me, what are you?
And what do you mean by sterilizing your needles if they're in good shape? Why wouldn't they be in good shape?
ps- nobody accused you of re-using needles. I was using whats called an analagy to make a point, but you didn't get that one either.
doh! analogy, my mistake.
Maybe since Miami Ink is the "all kowing" and we are all stupid and we have know idea what the hell we are doing. Go find a Miami Ink message board and post there........................................
Fun with the Alzheimers. mmm. Aluminum tattooed directly into the body, via speedstick.
Ami treats Yoji like dirt during his apprenticeship, yet you're unwilling to be treated like dirt for a grueling appreticeship? But I thought Miami Ink does everything right?!
Some just know everything and refuse to learn. Except from TV. Maybe they think Miami Ink is like watching Bob Ross on PBS. Sorry, but you can't learn tattoo from TV. Seriously, you are making an ass of yourself. Just quit... OR... If you want to learn, pay your dues.
Why don't all of you stop bitching and just accept maybe there is more than one right way? The 3 year olds i take care of at the daycare i work at don't even argue like this.
con...
I mean honestly, you guys are always getting on people saying there is more than one style of tattooing, there is more than one machine that is perfect, it depends on the person. Maybe the way you apply the stencil is. Heck, why do you even use one? nobody is perfect, there is no one perfect way with anything. Stop attacking people just because they do something differently. It's like that post where people were arguing over which machine to use. Give it a break, it's a personal preference.
Certainly there is more than one right way. The point here is that most of the artists here have learned the what theWRONG ways are, either through harsh experience or after being taught properly. That is the reason for such frustration with those who want the business handed to them, with no effort.
Point also being that TV and Internet are not good places to learn the art of tattoo. Its simply amazing that folks will use TV as the ulmitate authority to back up closed-minded or illogical arguments. Thats all.
Pointing to TV as proof of the right way to do something is one of the most silly things I have ever heard of.
i didnt say it was the right way..all i meant was everyone chewed my ass for saying to use the speedstick method and then i happen to watch an episode and they are doing the same thing...therefore im not wrong in my assertation that that is one way a stencil is applied.
Needle wise i wouldnt want to sterlize a needle if its damaged has like burrs on it or the needles have become bent, just dispose of them, thats what i meant. Im not trying to get a free ride from a tattoo show thats impossible they basically only show you the tattoo and story behind it.
I do agreee with Ducky that the ridicule and the im better than you attitude really sucks around here but fact is this is something that i want to do and i kind of like to hear what you all have to say even if its some of you bitching me out.
I have actually asked about an apprenticeship in the only tattoo shop in this messed up town. I am waiting to here back from them i basically said i would be there shop bitch..lol...just to observe what they do
deoderant is for your pits,i have been using green soap to put on stencils for years........thats it
Gabe,
I agree with what you said, but isn't it just as silly to look to an internet forum?
Ducky: YES!!!!!
yeah green soap works well and is more sanitary.
"i didnt say it was the right way..all i meant was everyone chewed my ass for saying to use the speedstick method and then i happen to watch an episode and they are doing the same thing...therefore im not wrong in my assertation that that is one way a stencil is applied."
- you're a bigger idiot than I originally thought. First of all, you start this thread saying "I (k)new I wasn't wrong" which implies that you still think that you are right, and now you're saying "i didn't say it was the right way" Make up your mind, or better yet, try using it. Nobody said you couldn't apply a stencil with speedstick, it was addressed that you shouldn't be telling people to do that because it is unsanitary and could potentially spread disease. If I pissed in a bottle I could apply a stencil that way too, does that make it right? You got your ass chewed out because you're flapping your gums about something you obviously can't put 2 and 2 together about and apply sensibly.
"Needle wise i wouldnt want to sterlize a needle if its damaged has like burrs on it or the needles have become bent, just dispose of them, thats what i meant. Im not trying to get a free ride from a tattoo show thats impossible they basically only show you the tattoo and story behind it."
- but you're using information on an edited tv show and taking that as useful information to not only help you tattoo out of your house, but justify your previous posts about speed stick and that it's okay to use, even though it was CLEARLY brought to your attention why that is not a good idea in terms of cross contamination, another dumb move on your part.
"I do agreee with Ducky that the ridicule and the im better than you attitude really sucks around here but fact is this is something that i want to do and i kind of like to hear what you all have to say even if its some of you bitching me out."
- It's not an "I'm better than you attitude", it's a "You need to stop fucking people up and risking lives with your self taught scratcher mentality attitude". If this is something you truely want to do, then learn the proper way before opening up your mouth and acting like a jackass with your postings that show you obviously don't think before you post. You're a hypocrate, your stories don't line up and you have no respect for the tattoo community with your attitude. I hope you heard that loud and clear and I hope you liked it.
"I have actually asked about an apprenticeship in the only tattoo shop in this messed up town. I am waiting to here back from them i basically said i would be there shop bitch..lol...just to observe what they do "
I'm sure your husband who's off in the military would be thrilled about the fact that his wife of their 3 kids suddenly found the time to be hanging around a tattoo shop being a shop bitch instead of, (gasp) being a mother to their children. Awesome priority list, you have there.
Hey Krystof...I even tried to help this woman on a one to one basis to maybe keep somebody from being fucked up and rapidly came to the conclusion that she is an extreme drama queen with a bad inferiority complex (thinks everyone wants her to appear stupid) I tried being nice but it just does not work with her....she just don't get it! I don't know about you but I'm just gonna ignore her posts from now on...although I gotta admit she is kinda amusing at times! My best advice to her is to seek some therapy.Lets take away her stage and she will have to stop the bad acting...Taz
I'm with you on that one, man! however, I still say, if she is going to misinform people and it crosses the line of safety, I have no problem questioning her judgement. So how have you been?
sick as a dog the past few days and you? Hey what is your shop site?...T
that sucks man! www.offthemaptattoo.com
knew.
OMG I cant believe you would think I was a drama queen, when your the one who gave me an attitude when I asked a question. Yeah I may say that i dont want to sound stupid but i feel at times im walking on ice making sure i dont say the wrong thing or piss you off. Ignore my post I could really care less. Your pretty immature with the email you wrote and then calling me stupid. Its a reply my kids would leave.
O so afer complaining that I should do thinks the right way by getting an apprenticeship now your telling me to be a mom instead. My kids will always come first no matter what that is my first priority. I have my little one going to school in August and I have plenty of time at night and during the weekend to go there.
So I wont give advice and by the way im far from a scratcher, and I dont tattoo out of my home I pratice out of my home and practice on myself when i feel confident that i can properly do it.
...Here we go round the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush...
The simple fact is that Krystof is justified in being on the offensive. He is clearly protective of the art. If you would shut up and listen to what he's saying, you might learn some stuff. Not that I endorse leaning tattoo via TV or internet.

speedstick speedsmichk ,i didnt catch that part but i did catch the phrase before comercial that the narratior said where billy goes under the GUN. man my wife was there telling me fanatically to calm the fuck down before i blew a vessele and had a anurisuim.LOL. i used to use the speed stick deal and i know of a few shops here that still do it. not my idea of a good pratice at all.just too much risk of CROSS CONTAMINATION. but if you insit on it then use a tounge depressor swipe the stick across said deodarant until you get enough to apply what ya need.but beware some folks are allergic to the metals and scent in these products.where as the green soap mixture is the best way to go for me.
Oh what can you expect from 35 year old kids, "I know something you don't know and I won't tell". "I had to earn it and I'll be damn if I will give it away". One day maybe their maturity will catch up with their age. "You would not go to a doctor who learned from the net", as if tattooing is anything like a doctor....GET REAL . Maybe some of these germophobes should look into the aerosols, that would scare the hell out of them. Like someone taking a pee in a urinals, the aerosols from that spread about 10 feet from the source, but I would bet they take their beer with them when they are at the bar. Just think about all the aerosols created each time that needle impact the body fluids when tattooing, a miniature of taking your fist and hitting the water in the bath tub. We all understand that speed stick may not be the best way, so what is? We are going to do the tattoos and just because we don't have and mentor standing behind us to fix our mistakes its not like tattooist did not make mistakes when they started. How many of the tattooist re-fill their ink cap in stead of using new ones and never even thought that is a good chance to contaminate the whole bottle of ink. Let see these tattooist will now be wearing surgical masks and face shields....WHATEVER
There is no way you "have" to start. An apprenticeship will save you alot of trial and error, maybe even save your future career.
All I know, is that if I was really trying to learn how to tattoo, the last thing I would do is argue with artists who have done it for years and made a career out of it.
What the fuck do you know? I didn't argue with my teacher in art school when he corrected me.
so because most of us are in our "30"s were just kids according to the 50 some odd year old guy tattooing out of his house and coming to an open forum trying to get info.
for your info. custom pens most of us 35 year old kids have been working in numerous shops, with numerous artists for numerous years. i myself have been involved in tattooing since i was 18 pretty much most of my adult life. when most of us started tattooing there was no internet most artist kept to themselves and most of us worked hard to get where were at full time which we still do. just because theres the net now a days, videos and tv shows doesnt mean we have to share our hard earned knowledge with anyone on the internet in an open forum. also as i recall in one shop i worked at where we had an "older apprentice" once he was shown some minor techniques he thought he was don ed hardy just cause he had some life experience and been wiping his ass longer than most of us. his attitude just helepd him right out of tattooing.
im not telling anyone not to learn how to tattoo. just make friends with people in person. go to shops get tattooed create a bond with some artists in person and you wont need to come here for minor technical info. but to shoot the shit with people and make some friends.
Thats good advice but even when some of us try to "shoot the shit"
we get people who make rude comments and dont give us beginners a chance to feel welcomed. Im still here and Im not going anywheres. Im determined to do something I love and feel strong about. I have my supplies and I practice until I get into a shop. I have been told to stop by anytime at the shop.
...... Custom Pens wrote "But I would bet that they take their beer in with them (the urinal) when they are at the bar"
I prefer to pee in half filled drinks left at the bar while patrons are in the urinal.
You guys ARE too funny!
So lets see...she's a mom and should be home with her kids - yet, she SHOULD get an apprenticeship and learn the RIGHT way?
Do you guys have ANY idea how many great tattoo artists were self-taught?
No shit
But how many great artists learned the RIGHT way as well? Plenty. If someone wants to do this bad enough they'll figure it out.
These days most of the people who say that they 'Need to be self taught because they dont have the time' or 'theres no shops near by that will apprentice me' are too damn lazy to give the respect due to the artform. Tattooing isnt something that you just try out for shits and giggles. You're fucking around with peoples appearances and the way they view themselves in the mirror, not to mention a ton of health issues. Getting an apprenticeship gives you that edge and a hell of a headstart in the business.
I'm thinking about opening up a health clinic from my house... y'know, just to test the waters a bit. I can do a little dental work with Craftsman tools right?
In case noone noticed, tattoo shop hours are generally from some time around noon through late night. So with that in mind, are there any stay-at-home-moms that really want to be working those hours if they do make it into the business? Any tattooist with kids will tell you its not easy. I aint downing them at all, but if you have a big family to deal with and you want to break into tattooing, its not gonna make it any easier. Stick with your fam, at least until you dont have to worry about whos going to take Billy to soccer practice.
