I WANT A TATTOO AND NOW IM 16 WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT?

why do we have to wait til 18 why not 16 ? theres no point waiting til 18 this sucks

you'll be glad you had to wait, instead of going to some scurvy tattoo shop, i wanbted one forever, turned 18, and didnt get one for 2 years, just cause what i wanted i thoiught i wanted forever, turned out to be a bad choice, its better to wait instead of getting a heartagram

Aaaah, the I want it and I want it now generation at its best..... First off, you have to wait because it's the law, and if you want it done correctly, your best bet is to find a law abiding tattoo artist that will do the job right when you're 18. Second, there is a very good chance that by the time you're 18, you won't even want what you wanted when you were 16, if you still even want a tattoo at all. Thirdly, there is a chance your body could go through another growth spurt and your tattoo would look just swell if that happened. And Finally, if you're that mature that you can make an adult decision that will affect you FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE at 16, then you'll understand why you have to wait instead of stamping your feet on the ground because you want it now. If you don't like the laws, when you're 18, you can always vote to change them.

Just a note... Scroll -down- the page, read the threads about minors wanting tattoos, I think there are oh... TWENTY related threads. If you can't take the time to scroll down a page, Why should anyone take the time to answer your question? Asking the question over and over again isnt going to make any of the answers any different.

Molly, just so you know, the people on here only like to use the law when it is conveniant. I've given that same reason, and been told "we shouldn't follow a law just because it's a law" by one of the more respectable people on here. Either way, i agree that, no matter how people feel about it, it IS A LAW, and to live in the U.S. you need to abide by that law. To the kid, why don't you go read that thread about 14 year olds getting tattoos. The reason you can't get a tattoo at 16 is because of the way you act, aka, "I WANT IT WHY CAN"T I HAVE IT WAAA I"M A LITTLE BABY" 18 year olds (and younger) make the same argument "why can't i drink until i'm 21!!! i'm responsible, i can handle it!" Well, if you have to complain and whine about it, obviously you CAN"T handle it or make that descision.

I say disregard the thousand or so people telling you to wait until 18 and go do it! They don't know crap about it anyway! Ducky...I'd really like for you to explain your statement that a lot of the people on here follow the law "when its convenient"...I don't!...I follow the law because its the law and I may lose my license by doing otherwise but mostly because I have seen the negative results of underage tattooing way too many times...and I will be damned if I am gonna waste one more second of my time explaining the reasons when this subject has been beat to death over and over...everything these kids need to know is right in the back forums ...all they have to do is spend 5 minutes scrolling and reading the opinions of the pros who have to cover these "underage "tattoo every fuckin day!!...This ain't a conspiracy.....we DO HAVE REASONS and they are all adequately explained here on this forum....so you go ahead and explain what ya meant will ya?...thanks...TAz

lol, i didn't say follow the law, i said use the law as their reasoning :) i fully believe you all follow the law, just as i do, and if i said it wrong in my post i'll re-state what i meant here. Someone once made a statement that just because it's a law doesn't mean it's right, and we shouldn't follow things JUST because they are the law. they said this in responding to a similar post where i had said it's against the law, point blank, and that's why they can't get one under 18. I never meant that the people on here don't follow the law, just that some find that the law isn't argument enough. hope that helps?
