Hi, I really want to learn to tattoo, it seems where i live (in Thunder Bay Ont.) that getting into the tattoo world is impossible, i went to one shop called Centrial Body Art and i was told to call for an interview so i did, and then they said that they didn't want to see my art. I have no idea why, so my next stop was Living Color Tattoo Studio were the man said he would teach me but then backed out because he was to old. (hes like 65) So after that was Underground Ink I took them my art and they seemed very promising at the time, they took my number and said they would call when they could do it because they really wanted a girl in the shop, but its been 3 months and no call i've stopped by and called a few they still remember me but i don't know whats going on.
I might have a chance to move to Brandon and i've heard that there are good things happening there so if any Tattoo artists in brandon would like to tech me to tattoo i'll love you forever. If your interested please contact me.

Hello there, i am curently living in brandon ma.
I used to work at a shop here but gave my two weeks notice.
the reason is that i have 18 years experience and they only have five years in the industry, so i was tired of nonsense.
you probably gonna have hard time to find apprentisship unless you got money that you can pay an artist to teach you.
I would be interrested into teaching you. but money would probably be an issue cause my time is important and i am a busy man.
but you can reply to me we never know.
Hi I am a Tattoo artist in ND looking for people to teach. I live about 2hrs from Brandon Let me know if you are interested Lance
Alot of people i have worked with have moved from those kinda towns towards Berrie,Toronto,Montreal,BC.Mainly cause there is more shops around those locations so u have a better chance of breaking into the industry.I know when i was looking for a apprentiship i only bothered to show up to shops in person.Phone calls do you no good. You need to be there and if need be beg to let u in just so u can mop the floors and scrub tubes.Bring your portfolio with u.Take cross contamination courses or even online courses,or hell just read up on the subject.Gives u more to say when u step in the shop doors.
Hey Monica: First off, I'm not 65, more like 40 and with over 20 years experience in the business. Which Monica are you? There where 2 recently: one who hated needles and the other was recording my client's names on a sheet of paper I found later. If all these studios haven't taken you seriously, the problem may lie with you and not them. After years of dealing with the public, I feel able to spot someone who is not cut-out for this business and that's more important to the tattoo community. Also, it may be that attitudes like yours make it hard for others more capable to enter the business. You want to use my shop's name (as an apprenticeship), you better be more than just professional, you better be honest, reliable and serious (no phone calls will get you in anywhere that counts). Any body out there who has any questions about me, feel free to browse at my website at www.livingcolourtattootbay.com. Have a nice day.
Dean...RIGHT ON man!
Its always us...the reason they weren't hired is because their work was so good we were scared of them or they were the wrong color or whatever...always an excuse....it is somewhat amusing but tiring at the same time huh?
...lol.. I dont know who told you that things are happening in ...of all places...,Brandon,MB They are wrong....there is one shop there that is not bad...but,,never takes anyone on..,because they are self taught....one that is nothing but a place to pick up and get high.....and another that is a scratcher and lier's..,which I had a suit/sued....and last I herd there were..2 or 3 scratchers there that work out of there house and and get drunk and high well they scratch on people.I own and have owned my own shop since 1975..,and at one time I was the only tat2 shop that was Provincial and Federaly certified to teach this Industy...that I have ever herd of in CANADA ! Trust me there is nothing going on in of all places Brandon MB.....lol . If you wish to know more or hope to realy learn...I still teach this .....I only take one person a year. Thanks for your time. Gerald
Heyy. 2 all those experienced tattoo artists out there. im 19, very talented, Im sorta in the same situation as the Lady above. I love art, drawing, sketch, paint, charcoal almost everything you can think of. Its been a dream to werk in a tattoo parlor, probably ever since i was 9. i took some of my art werk 2 a tattoo parlor out here in brandon. he told me he never seen art so real like mine espicially from a girl. All the advice he gave me was to buy a $200 gun plus the ink, nd try nd get use to to the weight of the gun by practicing on a orange nd grapefruit.. lol then once i got good to start on actual people. i dont wanna be one of those underground tattoo artists.. Soo i was wondering what you really have to do.? like having your grade 12.? completeing some art program.? or what how much would it actually cost to have someone teach me.? cause some day i would Love to be the one sitting in a parlor inking up some dude. i know i can do this. i just need a bit of help.
I live in Brandon and there is more than one shop for those of you who seem to believe otherwise. Adams, Warlock, Lotus and several more. Warlock is owned by Ward and he is known to take on people every now and again. You could give that place a shot or Adams. You just have to look for what you want. If you want it bad enough, you'll find it. Warlock just upgraded their place to a bigger one for the third time in a couple years so there's a chance they may be lookin'. If you're lookin for an apprenticeship though, I'd definitely make sure you are honest, reliable and have a good attitude. Good attitude is everything.. Journeymen in any business are usually busy and are willing to teach only those they see fit because they don't want to waste their time with people who are going to bail in a couple months. I wouldn't either. I'd hit a bigger city though - Winnipeg, Toronto, etc. Better shot at it.
Please disregard "Gerald", he is not a teacher nor is he certified. One SMALL example, he doesn't sterilize his tubes. This guy is bad BAD news. steer clear.
