Illinois Tattoo Laws

20 messages · last activity 7/28/2006

Ok I am in need of a little help. I am writing a paper for a college class and need some reason that the Legal age to get tattooed in Illinois is 21 vice 18 like it is in 47 of the other states in the union. I have researched the law it self but need some supporting information on why it is 21.
email me and ill tell you about it
Actually, Illinois is in the process of changing it's law to 18 now. It passed in the House and is waiting to be passed in the Senate and signed by the Governor.
a good reason is that you are considered an adult at the age of 18 so it should be fine
okay here are some good reasons: 1.at 18 a person is considered an adult in the law 2.at 18 you are allowed to elect the officals that are allowed to decide these stupid laws 3. you can purchase tobacco products 4. the government allows you to register for the army where you train to handle weapons, and fight in combat oversees, so why would we have to be 21 to get some ink under out skin? 5. you are allowed to sign formal aggreements and contracts at the age of 18 6.hey we are allowed to drive a car at the age of 16!!!!!!!!!! well i hope these help.... jess
Actually the piece of work that is the governor of Illinois just vetoed bill HB0029. http://www.illinois.gov/PressReleases/ShowPressRelease.cfm?SubjectID=3&RecNum=4206 I suggest that people, especially in Illinois call this guy and give him your piece of mind. I also recommend that every one in the state vote against him in the next election. Send correspondence for Governor Blagojevich, to http://www.illinois.gov/gov/contactthegovernor.cfm or to the Office of the Governor, 207 State House, Springfield, IL 62706; (217) 782-0244 or (312) 814-2121 [TTY (888) 261-3336].
I just sent a letter. This guy is a deushebag.
ha ha ... deushebag. is that German?
Here is one more reason: Our Governor Rod R. Blagojevich just vetoed bill hb0029 which was passed almost unanimously by the house of representatives and senate, would have changed the legal tattoo age from 21 to 18. This is a very dangerous law and needs to be changed. 18-19 & 20 year olds will get ink if they want it regardless. All this law does is create a black market for tattooing legal adults between these ages and causes them to go to house tattoo artists that work out of their kitchens, basements & garages, tattoo parties and other places where they are risking their lives by getting worked on by people that aren't professionals. They are putting themselves at risk of getting aids, hepatitis, STD's and any bloodborne illness out there. Lets help our youth stay healthy and strong. Contact our governor and read his story here. http://www.illinois.gov/PressReleases/ShowPressRelease.cfm?SubjectID=1&RecNum=4206

We have put a form on our homepage that you can fill out and it is being sent directly to the Governor. Please choose your words carefully we do not want them to thin we are just a bunch of uneducated punks. Any questions email us or call (309)346-8287 and ask for Mike.
Forgot to put up the website it is www.nickstattoos.com
Ok, first of all they are not trying to change the law from 21 to 18. Its ALWAYS been 21 but no one ever went by it. There was a place in Marion Illinois that got caught not changing needles in between people and giving tat's to kids that are like 16. So the state isnt trying to change the law they are just enforcing it.
i think if an individual is allowed to be drafted by this fucked up government to die for their fuck ups then why cant they be allowed to be decorated with permanent works of art
Jeesh! read the post! The person wants to know why the law says you must be 21...not reasons why it should be 18.....Maybe the governor has an interest in some in house scratcher scab shops!
As of January 1st, 2006 the age was changed to 18.
You can't be drafted if you have tattoos that would be visible if you were wearing pants and a short sleeve shirt, HOWEVER, the Army is becomming increasingly willing to accept people with full sleeves, as well as tats on wrists and neck. Personally, I'd rather the age be changed to 18, but if its not by January, im just going to spend my hard earned money in Indiana, where the law is 18 years of age.
if im 17, can i get a tattoo with consent of an adult?
I found out that the canadian army is ok with tats period. . . PLUS WE DRINK AT 18 :P
