im having a healing problem

8 messages · last activity 2/15/2008

Hey guys I just got a tattoo 2 days ago, it seems to be healing good but its on the top of my thigh. And im having trouble with my pants sticking to the tattoo, Is there any suggestions, im using tattoo ooze and trying to leave it exposed as much as possible but thats not easy when i have to work
Put the ooze on, then saran wrap it up(tape it, not too tight though). Let it breath at night!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't wrap it during the healing process... jesus fuck... If you're having problems call your artist.
If you use serran wrap change it every 2 hrs don't let it stay over the tattoo longer than that. Clean it good put a thin layer of H2Ocean works great and wrap again. I understand that some people don't have any other choice, especially if you work in corporate america. When you get home, take the bandage off and let it air as much as possible. H2Ocean worked great in my last tattoo.
how about um no... go to the drug store and ask the pharmacist for telfa pads. they breath and they're non stick. and next time take time off work before you screw up a tattoo you knew you were going to have a problem healing due to your work uniform. of the piece can't breath, it won't heal. end of story.
When I used to have a regular job 10 years ago the saran wrap would work, I would use A & D ointment with it and change it frequently (at least 3-5 times during 9 hour shift), and stop after the second day of healing. Never had a problem healing on over 30 hours of art work back then...However, I wouldn't recommend it, and those breathable pads aren't a bad idea at all. I was just too cheap then to shell out money when there was plastic wrap in cabinet. But I wouldn't have suggested to wrap it if it didn't work. I did forget to mention to change the wrap and clean the area while at work, but that should be common sense, and if it's not too common for you, then I'm sorry.
I do not know why everyone flips out when you mention saran wrap i have over 140 hour of work on me all healed with saran wrap. i would have use the telfa pads but they were to Small for my pieces. just as long as you don't glob the a&d on it( I mean very Little), and you wash it every few hours , and when you tape it just put a few pieces on just to hold it there, it works great. better than letting your tat stick to you and end up ripping the scad of and scaring it or getting it infected from getting a foreign body in it. I know allot of people always either over do it with the ointment or do not take care of it at all and they end up with a mess. I was a nurses aid for years and we used telfa pads all the time on people and if you use the saran wrap the write way it does the same job. And when I was and nurses aid the nurses had us keep them on i think they changed them every other day or when needed. I do not know if they do it they same now. I haven't been an aid for years. well thats my opinion and mine alone take it or leave it. its up to you. like I said I did in on my whole back and both of my legs and on my arms and never once did i ever have a problem. so your figure 140 hour in about 4 years and not one infection or problem from the saran wrap, I think i know what I am talking about.
Thanks heavenly! We still have customers at the shop who swear by it for their best results. Honestly, the art work that I used saran wrap on is brighter, and more crisp then some of my more recent work, and it's been the same artist for 12 years(I'll cheat on my girlfriend before I cheat on my artist)! Take it for what it is guys.
