Improperly healing tattoo?

Just found your blog.. Awesome! My issue brought me here... I got a new tattoo 2 weeks ago, and it looked fine. It is a cross with a large heart in the center, all black except for a red "inline", as compared to an outline... inside the edge of the heart, and a banner with my daughter's name. It is about 4"W x 5" high. The red has been all but completely absorbed at this point, leaving it a large black cross. Not so nice looking compared to what it was suppoosed to be. I was told to wash it with cold water ONLY 1 hour afterward, and to apply bacitracin (which I was given) 4 times a day for 4 days, all of which I did. It scabbed up pretty much completely, was warm to the touch for a couple of days about 2 days in, and now most of it is actually hard to the touch, still a couple of deep scabs, all of it is dry and flaky, and I even have a fairly deep hole in the middle of it along with moderate pain to the touch. I am applying fragrance free Eucerine Plus seveal times a day to try to moisturize it, not sure if this is a good idea or not at this point. I do plan to return to the shop for a follow up, but thought I would seek an independent second opinion in the meantime since the shop is about an hour away. I don't think this is quite normal. I can send a pic if I know where to send it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks all!
This sounds a little bit like what my tattoo is doing. How has it come out? Did you go back to the artist? Or did it heal all up?
Send me a pic of the tattoo. Click on my name above to send.
