infected tattoo

i got a tattoo i my wrist on monday and it is now thursday night and it is still really sore and red around the edges. i have other tattoos and i don't remember them being is sore for so long. i'm not sure if it could just be because of where it is or if it could be infected. i wash it several times a day with dail and i use my tattoo goo so i'm not really sure how long this should last. if you could please let me know that would be great. thanks mary

Is it swollen? Does it hurt(not just sensitive) to touch? Is there pus? If your answers are no to all of these it's probably not infected. Were you drinking at the time, before, or after the tattoo? How about any drugs? That area tends to be a bit sensitive to some during process as well as healing. See your artist, or a doctor if it persists through the weekend. Dial is good, however, is the area still similar to an open wound?

If it's still an open wound...are you wrapping it and letting it breath so it can heal properly?
