Integrating styles - improving a tattoo

I got my first tattoo six years ago, when I was 19 - it's a fairy curled up in a (somewhat) fetal position, about 8 in. tall x 6 in. wide (aprx.). I like the tattoo, but I really want to add onto it. I have 4 tattoos, and the problem I have with them is that they seem "stuck on," in other words - there's no flow/they just look like they were slapped on with no continuity. The fairy is on the right/lower quandrant of my back, fyi. I want to incorporate the fairy into a larger, more developed work...I'm thinking that the finished product would cover a good amount of that right/lower quadrant of my back (if that makes sense), maybe trailing around my waist a bit. Anyhow, I've been looking around at artists' work for several months now, and I'm usually always drawn to the very expressive, bold, colorful, asian-inspired pieces...intricate lotus flowers, waves, tibetan script are a few themes that have really been standing out, for example. The fairy is definitely not in this vein - it's a flash piece - but I do like the way it came out... Is it plausible to integrate the fairy into a larger, asian-style piece, or (in anyone's opinion) will this look strange? Can you integrate two (or more, for that matter) *different* tattoo styles successfully into a new, innovative & attractive tattoo? All opinions, please!
It is not impossible to combine styles...it just has to be done right. BUT It would help a lot if there was any way to see your tattoo? Could you possible put a picture online? That way we can see what it looks like exactly and make it a LOT easier to tell you. Without seeing it, we can't really say what would go with it or not
Hopefully this will work - I uploaded a picture of the tat onto this kodak easy share site...not the greatest picture, but you get the idea. http://www.kodakgallery.com/PhotoView.jsp?&collid=85288777508.53047777508.1133195100797&photoid=43047777508&view=1&page=1&sort_order=0&albumsperpage=12&navfolderid=2005
