Anyone get any work done at Invisible Ink in NYC? Checked it out the other day and all the artists seem to be really good. just wondering if anyone's been there and what your opinion is?
I didn't feel comfortable in the shop..i think some of the people that work there, have an elitist attitude..I think Marco, and Regino,do excellent work, but i wouldn't feel comfortable getting tattooed in that shop..
I was pretty impressed by their portfolios when I visited. I havnt tried to get a tattoo there but did have a fine time while visiting. I would certainly talk to them if their tattoos moves you.
i THINK THEY ARE GOOD ARTIST AND HAVE RESECT FOR THEM.I SORT OF GOT THAT ELIETES ATTITUDE FEELING FROM WHEN I HAD SENT AN EMAIL ASKING ABOUT POSSIBLY ADDING SOME OF MY PAINTINGS TO ONE OF THERE SHOWS.THE RESPONSE WAS RUDE TO ME AND I GOT THAT FEELING ALSO.
I have a tattoo in progress with them. I've worked with several different artists on different pieces and have learned this -all tattoo artists think they're better than anyone else, don't let it discourage you - they do great work.
I would definitely get a tattoo at Invisible NYC if I had the sskin and inclination. I do take the idea that all artists have elietist attitudes, I work with many many down to earth tattoo artists. To some degree the best always know they are bad ass, but many carry themselves very well with everyone because they know full well that people are just poeple and we are all just people.
Regino's pretty good and he is very friendly, i actually had Regino do a tat for me while he was working at Inkstop tattoo. PLUS he isnt heavy handed like a lot of other artist.
i had a tat done by regino and was extremely satisfied. The people in the shop in my experience were pretty relaxed and friendly. Regino didn't talk much during the tattoo process. It was my first so i expected more hand holding but got none but basically i great place.
got an ok tattoo from Troy, allways running way behind, if he shows up at all. wish id gone sumwhere else.
It's funny, this shop claims to do away with the eiteism that accompanies the Tattoo industry, yet, this is the worst atmosphere in the city. The artist (owner)did not show up to his appointment with me, did not return my emails or calls, I had to go to the shop in person 3 days later to get my deposit, and say, NO THANX!!! trust me guys, there are a lot better places in the city to go.
Getting a tat is always rather intimidating. Artists are generally unique personalities. Frankly you can go in with an idea and they'll take the concept and most likely blow you away with their designs and in many cases its completley different than what you had in mind. I didnt find my experience at InvisibileNYC to be much different than anywhere else except that the artists at Invisible are awesome. I am getting work done by Regino and he has some of the best line work i have ever seen. isnt that what is most important? The work? I highly recommend getting over any attitude you recieved to get the best. Sometimes first impressions are not all they are cracked up to be. Youre going for the artists work and not necessarily going to meet your best friend.

There are people at Invisible Ink that have very good techical skills, but they specialize in super cliche shit like pirate ships, Mom-anchors, squid, carp, skeletons, dragons (check the web site)...well done snooze material. Good luck trying to get anything that is not super established, been-there-seen-that textbook work. Check out their flash books ...lame. I'd recommend a couple other places, but then it will seem like I'm working for them, and I'm not. I went in there upon the recommendation of a friend for a piece I was considering. I talked with a couple people there and they said "That's not a tattoo kind of piece. You'll never see anyone with something like that". I've looked up quite a few people that have had tattoos with the things they were complaining about, but what they were really saying is [we haven't been trained to do things that are not in the tattoo text book]. I have my piece now, done elsewhere by a guy that was super psyched to do it. The piece rules.
They do have a bit of an attitude there... I went in with an idea to add to my existing tattoo, but the artist (who does great work) convinced me that " You don't put those things together (Japanese carp and demons) on a tattoo". He did finish my tattoo and he did it in an amazing way, but not what I wanted originally.
