I recently got a tatt about a week and a half ago. It's healing, but not like its supposed to. My foot was swollen for a week, my leg hurt really bad, so bad that i could hardly walk on it. It formed a big scab on it and the scab is peeling off and my foot went down. Most of the color is gone, really all you can see is the outline. It was a rose vine with hearts going around my ankle, some of the leaves are faded and peeling. Two of the hearts are healed, but discolored and sore, the third heart is really irritated and pussy. I think he went a little too deep when he was coloring it. It looks like you can see my meat. I used everything I could think of like neosporin, a&d,and lubriderm unscented. nothing seems to heal the heart can someone help me please? i have some antibiotics from when i was sick should i take them. I don't want another dr. bill.

Priorities should be put in order here, You don't want to pay for another visit to the doctor, but you have no problem paying someone who may not be capable of applying your tattoo properly so now your foot is infected and without a doubt, it sounds like you'll have to pay to have it done the right way. OR, the artist did it the right way and you ignored the aftercare, and now things aren't going in your favor. If you have anti-biotics left that tells me that you may have disregarded the doctors orders to take them until the bottle is empty (not when you're feeling better), so that opens up the door to the possibility that if you didn't listen to what your doctor told you to do, you may not have listened to what your tattoo artist told you to do when it came to healing instructions, so who's to say you'll listen to what anyone on this board tells you to do? My advice (yours to take if you wish) is to go back to the artist, and if (s)he tells you to go see your doctor, follow the instructions and go to the doctor and do what he tells you to do.
Sounds like the artist has'nt set his needles correctly, has had the machine turned up too high, or both. Chances are he's penetrated the dermis. That's probably why it's scabbed so badly, as the dermis has ton's of blood capillaries and once punctured, will exude blood and lots of lymph (white blood cells) to heal the wound. Unfortunatley, this pushes out the ink aswell. To add, never use neaosporin, it's shit as it contains petroleum, which melts the scab away, leaving the wound open to infection. Use savlon just around the edges, i use it and its great, but make your own decision.
Try not to worry about the tattoo at this point, see your doc for antibiotics for the infection, its more important not to get scepticemia (blood poisoning).
You will probably have a badly scarred area. Now, this area may need to be left alone for several or more years. Chances are, when you go to a "good" artist, he will tell you to leave it anyway for some time. I know cos ive been there myself. Ive still got the scars, and still cant touch it, and this is four years later. You live and learn.
Good Luck. Dusk
