Is pig skin good to practise on?

10 messages · last activity 4/12/2010

Hello guys, i have bought a cheap stainless steel gun, DT-P025 range power supply, kuro sumi ink and don't intend on tattooing anybody. I dream of one day obtaining an apprenticeship and getting to know the art of tattooing. I was just wondering if pig skin would be a good thing to practise on? I'm well aware that i probably shouldn't even think of owning a gun, however i just want to get a feel for it, and using it as a tool for extending my artistic ability. Any tips would be really really helpful, my power supply tells me the duty percentage, which i understand the basics of, however i don't know what it means when it says CPS? something per second? and how many volts does one use to tattoo outlines using a 5 round liner? please do not abuse me on this. i am not doing any harm to anyone but pig skin. thankyou.
ok before you get your ass handed to you which i should do for calling a MACHINE a GUN AUGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! first no no! CPS contact point per second that can be counted as a tech question here another NO NO! no tech questions allowed. as far as the other questions those are tech questions.i will not answer here. BUT! as far as pig skin? WOW WE BE TALKING OLD SKULE MY MAN! yes pig skin is as close to human skin as you can get.get that porker skin and go to town my man! feel free to e mail me with any questions ya have.good luck.
How do i email you? sorry new to this in more ways then one haha
[email removed] there ya go mate.no worries
another joke thread.
wrong bart infact to date some artist STILL USE pig skin for there apprentice to practice on.there was a artist that was tattooing live pigs back in the 70s some of them tattoos were very well executed.pig skin is the closet living organ you can get to next to human skin.some times its best to keep mouth shut rather than open it and remove all doubt. also some research and studying in tattoo history would not hurt. no offense meant but pig skin is VERY REAL! and very good to tattoo on.
when you practice on pigskin do you have to do anything to prep it because when i use is i for some reason it looks like little hairs are everywhere when i wipe the ink off and just smears ink into these little hair things and i dont know why i do know its not hair tho i have used pig ears and they worked fine but this slab of skin does that so i am wondering if i have to do something to it before i ink it can someone help me out here please
shave it. cheap Bic razor will do
i think it might be that the skin is just to old and has been frozen to long because it only does it in some spots and i tried shaving it but its not hair it just kinda looks like it but it does that in some spots and other spots are so hard that i cant even get ink into the skin and i have it all stretched out and nailed down to wood does it have to be really fresh skin and does it only last so long once it is frozen?
the skin should be as fresh as ya can get and afford.sounds like ya may need some new skin.i would try for the torso area.different areas will have different texture and such.the skin will only be good for a cpl days and the tissue will begin to break down and start decomposing.another product you can pratice on is grapefruit.
