I have been tattooing for the last year and a half or so now. I really wanted to be an apprentice since day and still am trying, but failed to so. Was not a lack of trying, just to many people that have the same idea. I Eventually started tattooing myself and my cousins because I was so anxious.(wich I know is the worst way to get started.)
Anyway, my question to a pro is, Is there things you can see right away in person to lead you to determine wither that person may have more or less potential to succeed in tattooing than anothers? What kind of things might a pro look at right away when being shown a porfolio?
I would love to post some of my tattoos to get a honest opinion on my work, It's way easier to tell someone they might suck when you don't know them. I would love some affective criticism to help an any way possible.
Is Tattooing something that a pro can see potential in someone learning right away?

this is my atempt at putting some pics on for criticism, so sorry if it is unsuccessful.
I am very open minded and know I don't know it all, actually very little about tattooing. So all you pro's, tell me what to focus on.
There should be two pics. an older one and a more recent one. Can't figure out how to rotate them though.
With the quality of work in these pics I think you should be in a shop working under someone who appreciates your very obvious talent. We would probably hire you on the spot if the rest of your art is as good as those two pics, lets see more!
Im no pro, but as a connoisseur, really think those are a couple of great tattoos there man. tims right you should be working in a shop. you have the right person take you under their wing and i think your potenial is pretty limitless man. good luck to you.
Thanks so much for the feed back, that means alot. This is not something i saw on a t.v. show and told myself, I can do that. I love the art and the whole tattoo history, and have since I was a youngster drawing them on myself.
I don't know if what i'm doing for shading is a bad thing, but i just dip the end of the tube in a small cup of water and I leave it in shorter or longer depending on what i'm looking for. Would appreciate any tips.
I know it's not exactly the best way to ask for help (internet) and I'm gonna get my share of negative feedback, but i'm at the point now where i'm embarrassed to ask an artist in person because of the treatment i've received in the past and hope maybe someone out there might be generous with thier knowledge.
I will try to place a few more pics I have when I get home from my fu*%ing office job.
