I got a tattoo on Saturday, it's monday now, and my tattoo is warm to the touch and tender. it's on my ankle. There is red around the lines. Is this normal and what should I put on it? It seems like it's healing, but still reddish pink around all of the lines
hey- Just get to the md---That is the best thing anyone can seriously tell you.
I can't this very second, i'm in france until the 11th. i've been washing it with antibacterial soap twice a day. there's no puss. should i put neosporin on it?
Redness and tenderness is normal for a "fresh" tattoo. The redness and tenderness should go away as it heals. With that said, that is just a generalization. People heal in different ways. Everyone has a different reaction to the pigment used and the area that was tattooed. Neosporin will help with the redness and tenderness; however, it will also help your body fight off infections/foreign bodies. Your body will think the new pigment is an intruder and fight it. Using Neosporin will help your body fight it, hence the pulling of color. So, it is up to you on which method you take. A trip to the doctor may help. But most doctors are not fond of body modification, and are quick to tell you that is the problem. I have had a few tattoos that began hurting 3-4 days after. I just washed it with mild soap, and used a film coating of Aquaphor. The tattoos healed fine. It can take a couple weeks for the tattoo to heal remember. Best of luck with it. The ankle is a tender spot and usually is touched and rubbed by objects (socks, shoes, etc.).
