Joe Rose LION'S DEN TATTOO STUDIO

Joe Rose of LION'S DEN TATTOO STUDIO in New Hope, PA was recommended to me. I went to him and checked out his work and it seems great. Anyone know how good he really is or have any opinions?

I live in North Carolina and I can tell you that I travel back and forth to this tattoo shop when I want to get work done. Joe or Tony (Tony does my work) Is probably the best around. I wouldn't trust anybody else to get the size and the detail down exactly the way you want it exept for either of these guys! They are very clean and very proffessional and take their work very seriously! I am going up at the end of September to get another one done! 10 hours of travel means nothing to me as long becasue I trust no one else to get the job done right! If it is going to be on my body for ever then it better be done right!

In my response to if Joe is a good tattoo artist or not, I would say that he definitly is. I have known Joe very well for almost 7 years and have had quite a few large pieces done by him that, to this day, have never had to be touched up. His colours and inks are the best you can get and unlike alot of tattoo artists around, he is not an elitist...he's very down to earth and personable. Joe will automatically make you feel at ease and understand that alot of first time clients have different needs. He's patient with his customers and does not rush thorugh his work, even on the tinest pieces no matter how busy the shop is. Yes, Brian and Scott at Living Arts are both great artists as well but they do not have quite the same atmosphere that Joe and Tony do. The Lion's Den II is very professional but still very friendly and comfortable. They do not have a website as of right now, but if you stop by their shop they have a ton of portfolios to browse through. I hope this helped! Good Luck!

hey about joes tatoos being good work...i was actually just there 2 days ago. he did my moms tattoo and he will be doing mine soon. he did a really nice job. he's also really nice...he makes it a really calm, comfortable experience. i would recomend him.

I've got to say, I've had Joe's partner, Tony, do all of my artwork, and he does a great job. Not only is he more than willing to do a solid, long session if your up to it, but he's clean, quick, and always accomodating to the customer. He does great work, and is well known in not only the main new hope/lambertville area, but surrounding and out of town areas too. As a customer of his for 3 years, I highly recommend his or Joe's work. In general, I wouldn't go anywhere but the Lions Den II

I just moved to the area and I am looking to get a tatoo that I have covered and changed (I hate it). I realized what I did wrong though, I was 18 (i just started to love tattoos) and I rushed into it and picked something off a wall, and the artist sucked! I am making it a point not to rush into anything this time. I was looking to New Hope because since I moved here I have noticed that New Hope seems to full of artistic people. I also have noticed that people can be very critical of any artwork done in that area, prob. because there is so much of it. I think, for some reason, that it may be harder to get by in bucks county as a bad artist in New Hope as opposed to say Quakertown (nothing against Quackertown, just using it as an example). That is what I am looking for a good artist, that is professional and clean and cares about his work!!! I want something that I can be proud of. Would anyone recomend one of them over the other in reference to designing something specially for someone, and do they have a web sit, e-mail or does anyone have samples of their work they can send me? Does anyone know how long they have been in business for or how much experience they have. I posted my e-mail address (might be stupid) please no one e-mail me except for what I asked for! I was impressed by all the good things said, and if any one has any other suggestions about where to get tattoos done in Bucks county, let me know...I really don't mean to be bias toward New Hope.

I would suggest Living Arts tattoo shop in New Hope as a good option. Of course, you are not far from either Philly or New York both of which have some top artists. There is a tattoo convention in Philly the first week in February if you want to check out a bunch of artists at once.

I HIGHLY recommend Lion's Den II in New Hope. I had gotten a very bad tattoo done when I was about 20 and spent the next 3 years looking for someone to cover it. I went in to see what they could do for me at Lion's Den and met Tony....WHO IS FABULOUS!!!! He did an amazing job and I will never let anyone else tattoo me but him...EVER again. Well, I did have Joe do a small something for me...my last name on my back. I'm sure he rocks just as much as Tony does. I would definitely GO there. My next trip will be this summer!

Joe is my cousin and he does great work!!! He's done work on my wife and I. Only one I trust!!! That shop is great!!!

Jose Rose sucks!!! He likes to take he sweet as time. Mean while hes charging you by the hour!!! He takes breaks every 20 mins or so. Always smoking and bullshiting. The biggest problem that shop has is the tv in the back. Not only does it give the customer something to watch but the artist watches it. Which takes the foucus off his work. I would recommend Tony. He takes his job more serious. Joe is either to burnt or hung over to do good work. FUCK Lions Den!!!

For those of you that have gone to Joe or Tony at Lion's Den, did you make and appointment or do they accept walk-ins? I'm having a hard time finding info on them to see whether they do that or not. My boyfriend and I are considering 3 different places to get our tattoos this week and I have heard great things about Joe and Tony. I just need to know if I should call ahead.

Well Joe is a good tattoo artist, but he makes you wait for hours, while he smokes 20 cigarettes, talks to his girlfiend and friends, and then he has the nerve to eat. While your beign tattoo by him he will stop watch parts of movies, go and have another smoke come back tattoo you for 10 minutes go and have another smoke, then he stops to answer his cell phone. I recommended a few people, he has now lost my friends artwork, doesn't want to give the guy his deposit back, and treated my friend like he is the one who did something wrong. I will never send anyone to him any more, and its ashame the shop is really nice, and New Hope is a great town and I don't mind the drive from Philly. I will go there again - they have another artist and his name is Tony, let me tell you about him, I've seen his work and man if you need a custom piece - he does smokin work!!!! HELLRAISER

All I can say is Living Arts in New Hope is the place to go..I had an experience with Joe as well regarding artwork that was never completed. I have had multiple pieces done by Scott Smith at LA's and his work is tremendous! Plus the atmosphere in the shop is more "serious" than that of Lion's Den. Sure, they take breaks but not in the middle of working and there is no TV on..just music. I can't recommend them more highly

Well I've been tattoo at the Lions Den and Tony is the only one I want working on me - he is very professional in the way he deals with you, he makes sure your comfortable and that your happy with the art work before he stencils you. While Tony was doing my tattoo, Joe was a complete asshole, I watched him leave the poor girl in the chair while he had to make a phone call, and have a cigarette, I watched him stop and watch the tv in the middle of a tattoo, how un-professional is that - its ashame he has poor working ethics. I was in town later on that night and over heard Joe say it WAS HIS SHOP - well if he's a shop owner than I feel sorry for the people who work. Then the next day while we were out walking around and stopping in some of the shops a few of the shop oweners asked us where we got tattoo and we told them at the lions den, and they said it was a great shop with good artist and then they said that the owner was opening up another shop in Georgia and we looked at them and they told us some guy named BIG MIKE is the shop owner - If I was him I would fire that lazy asshole Joe Rose. I hope Mike reads these message boards and finds out what a scum bag Joe is!!!!!!!!!!

Joe Rose is a dirty pig - have you seen his work station - god I wouldn't let anyone I know and love get tattoo by him. He looks dirty all the time and his work station is dirty. Have you ever heard of CLEANING JOE - call dusting with rags, cleaning that mirror behind you and mopping your floor. I'll never go there again.

I will never allow anyone to tattoo me unless they are from the Lions Den! Joe has done all of my work, and I trust him 100%! Tony has an incredible portfolio, and Carrie's work is awesome. I get stopped all of the time so people can ask who has done my work. I am totally proud to display anything by anyone of them! Not only are they all great artists, but they are great friends as well!

For the couple of people who are complaining about minors not being allowed in the shop. YOU MUST BE 18 TO BE TATTOOED. That is the law. The shop is not a public place, therefore they have the right to say who can and cannot come in. Since you must be 18 to be inked, there is no reason for anyone under 18 to be in there unless they are with a parent or LEGAL GUARDIAN, which does not include your 18 year old boyfriend, or girl friend.

I don't know much about the other guys but I do know that when Tony worked down here in Trenton (I think the other's did, too or were friends of who knew my Mother), Tony did a medium-large size piece on my Mother's stomach that, still to this day (going back about 7/8 yrs ago) has never had to be touched up. It's a tribal & orchid intertwined with color. I had a tattoo done when I was 14 by my Mom's man, had it covered on Halloween when I was 16, and have been looking to have it covered again. After seeing Tony's work on my Mom and a few other's he used to work with down here, I'd recommend anyone to him based on what I've seen. Tony if you're reading this, Lila says hello. -Savannah.

just had some work done by joe rose last week, the man's a nice guy and a very solid artist. I'd recommend him or tony in a heartbeat. The cigarette and food breaks could definitely get annoying to some but I'm a smoker myself and I got hungry too, so I didn't mind. His initial quote was very reAsonable and he did great work. I got all of my work done at the Lions Den. Joe rose is who did them. I told him what i wanted and he drew them from scratch. Joe is a really great tattoo artist. Tony and Joe also did most of my parent work too. They are both very clean, professional, and great at what they do. Joe and Tony are also friends of the family

Well first of all thanks for the wonderful comments regarding Joe and Tony. They both are fantastic artist and great people. They have worked for my brother Big Mike for alot of years. Big Mike started a shop in Georgia and it's Called Big Mike's Tattoo's. There is a Lion's Den Tattoo Shop in Georgia but it's not us. Joe Rose is better than what anyone can say... he does an outstanding job. He is a great artist and really asks the questions to capture exactly what it is that you are looking for. He'll make sure to never duplicate a tattoo that he's done already. My sun/moon combo that he created for me is one of a kind. I am in the process of making my way back up to New Hope to see him for my next tattoo. I'm sure it will turn out perfect. No regrets with Joe. He's freakin awesome!

Save yourself a lot of time and money. He waters down his ink, the tattoos look years old after you heal, and he is all around arrogant and pompous. The pricing is outrageous. I had the one he did for me covered up. Look elsewhere.

Joe's work is great. Hes the only artist i go to i travel from NJ just to get my tattoos done there. i refuse to go anywhere else
