Shit, Kat is probably the most famous tattoo artist as far as the general public is concerned. She has the right to act and do what she will, but whether she like it or acknowledges it, she is an ambassador of the tattoo community and the general public so her actions will be discussed and scrutinized. Why would she let Tom tattoo her on TV? The same reason I'll let them sponsor TattooNOW for a few weeks... $$$. I'd like to think there is a difference between banners and wallpaper and such for 2 weeks and marking your skin on TV for the rest of your life...

I was wondering why this looks like la ink.com instead of tattoonow.com always comes down to the money no matter how you cut it.As fare as the video honestly i respect the women for her talent as an artist but feal that she is definetly not the one to be any type of ambassador for tattooing.But Sometimes things fall into the wrong hands look at pres.Bush.

Kandyman Joe: Im not sure this is evidence of the industry not self policing, as much as the influence producers from a TV network have on an art they have little understanding of on by promoting to their rather large audience... What "cred" Kat loses from the industry self policing she makes up for with promotion from TV producers to a mainstream audience. some people are exceptions to self(I would call it "natural") policing, but most arent especially in the long run. I believe in the long run no one is above nature/art/industry self policing. I didnt mean to sound hard on myself, our success(ha, still barely fending off the credit card loan sharks) has everything to do with politics/philosophy. Talking shit is fine with me, its lying and dishonesty thats not ok. Bringing this back on topic, Id like to say that what this video makes me realize is that there is an opportunity still for the right producers to develop the right TV show with the right people that shows tattooing in a positive light. When the right TV people start showcasing serious custom tattooing in an intelligent manner, then I think nature will really reward those people. We can complain about Kat all day long, Im excited to see whos gonna come up next and ultimately take the lead in bringing custom tattooing to the masses. The problem with G statement is that unfortunately TV is shit, and until we stop getting our noses into people's life, this stupid reality shows are going to keep emerging with the simple and sole purpose to entertain "the mass" not a group. By group I mean a small sector of tattoo artists and collectors that would dig to see real action of tv. But guess what, entertaining real artists and collectors will be to bore the shit out of the regular public. Therefore they are force to keep the shit flowing at any cost. I haven't seen a single episode of LA ink ( I won't give my cable company the pleasure of charging me 25 buck for some extra channels) Not that I wouldn't but I certainly don't find a kick on those TV shows. I find more productive reading books about real artists build machines or simply drawing. That truly inspire me and help me push my work level a notch higher every day. Reality TV are another product of a stupid greedy producer.

My artist and I were talking about Kat and Miami ink the other day while he was doing my new tattoo. He was really disappointed on their failures to maintain sterility and pointed some things out to me that he saw on their show. I watched LA Ink last night and sure enough, Kat pushed her hair out of her face and behind her ears with her gloves in the mist of tattooing and went right back to it, without changing into clean gloves. Not being an artist, I didn't "see" stuff like that, but now I do. Yuck.

you'd be amazed at how much i laugh at her during that show. she's a spoiled pompous little brat. and did you notice how much weight she lost in between miami and la ink? she's gotta be on something... corey, kim and hanna would do well to have a sit down on TV with her and tell her she's a spoiled fucktard. the episode where she talks about micromanaging shit at the shop...
