Almost did the Pittsburgh Pump!!
Also How bout Old Anthrax?? "KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY!!!""

Illusion... Ya gotta turn it up really fuckin' loud though. It should hurt....
What did you say...? :)
Okay Rose, I bled for you, now I want you to bleed in return. I have a band for you. They have this awsome mix of new and old. Anyways, the band is Dragonforce...any song will do :)
Hahaha.. Dragonforce fuckin' rocks.. If you like them, check out some X Japan.. they rock pretty hard too.. well, not hard as in the music is hard, maybe you get my point? I dunno.. drinking too much.. I could raid my rather large music collection if you'd like.. though I'm gonna recommend some Tool, straight out.
I'm personally a bit partial to Soulfly.
3 Days Grace and Journey in the same thread? Blasphemy!!!!! Surely ye jest!! What's next, the Back Door Boys? LOL!!
TCE
So what? Journey and 3 Days Grace.. it's all music.. if people like both bands, go for it! Just 'cause one is old, and one is popular, doesn't mean one can't like both. That's like all those little underground kids from high school who change their favorite bands every week when someone else has heard of them.. Get over it.. ecclectiveness (sp?) is part of life..
I'll listen to all of this and check it out!! I don't apologize for anything I like. Except maybe John Denver... And even then I'm not sure it requires an apology... okay, menudo would require an apology....
No apologies necessary.......................I'm just biased.............................................against everything I currently hear over free airwaves. }:@~ Without fail, the shit makes me want to throw my radio out the window.
TCE
TCE, there's a good arguement for what you just said. That's got some truth to it!!
Al,
What's the argument? That a large majority of todays "musicians" are only in it for the buck, and that's why radio play bands turn out one mediocre record, followed by a piece of shit record, followed up by never more?
Ironically, I had this discussion yesterday with a musician who has been extremely successful since the '70's, but would do it regardless of the money, because all he's ever wanted to do was write and perform music. He's remained humble enough throughout the years to aknowledge how fortunate he's been to be able to make a living doing something he's passionate about. He simply loves music.
He also teaches seminars, and said it's really upsetting to field such a large number of questions from kids wanting only to know how much money they can make.
Personally, I feel that shit like American Idol and flash in the pan bands are a huge insult to real musicians who have spent an entire lifetime honing their skills to the highest level. I've said it before: we've become a disposable society which celebrates mediocrity.
I don't care how hip a bunch of kids think something is................if it sucks, it sucks!!! My niece listens to 3 Days Grace..............if you like it, that's all that matters.
Journey, well, let's see if 3 Days Grace continues to get the amount of airplay 25 years from now that Journey continues to get today.
Lets see how many of todays bands will consistently write, and tour in support of, 17 successful studio records like Rush has, and then still have something fresh to say.
Again, I want one of those posters!!!!!!!!
TCE
Unfortunately TCE, you're right. My generation of musicians aren't really musicians. No better than the scratchers you guys deal with :). On the bright side it's not all bad, and I think that there will at least be a few good bands that stick with it. Shinedown better be one of those bands damnit...they are too talented to be quitting anytime soon. But yeah, most of em are in it for the money, and that degrades the music no doubt. That's okay though, cause I can still pop in some journey, styx, queen, ect....they don't seem to die no matter how old they get. I am however, anxious to see which of my bands makes the long haul. And you can bet I'll be screaming hallaluyah when that fucking gangster rap bites the dust!
Jeremy....................and all.....................consider this for a moment if you will.
The time period from when a band begins writing the material for a first album and ends up getting signed to a label to record it, is usually around 10 years.
For 10 years they have the luxury of casually writing, and going out and playing around town, or whatever, rearranging and honing and whittling tunes down into something marketable, until finally a label notices it.
Then one of two things usually happens, the first is that the label sees a lot of potential in the band.................potential conflict with the labels current pet project which they are about to launch platinum, so they sign the band, acquire the rights to the material, record the album, and then bury it!!! They make sure that it never sees the light of day, and the band is powerless, because the record company owns the material, and can do as they please with it.
The other scenario is that the band gets signed, records a dyno first album (because after all, they've had 10 years to amass enough material), which is hugely successful, but then find themselve under the gun to write and record a second album within the time frame alloted in the typical contract. This is what separates the men from the boys.......................whether they have true writing talent, and can write a blockbusting follow up, and launch a truly lucrative career,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or if they turn out some crap just to fulfill their obligation, which also ends up being the final nail in their coffin.
There seems to be a lot more of the latter these days.
TCE
.................in fact, Al, I'll send you an example of an album recorded in 1996 on a major label that ended up getting buried.............it's fucking disgusting!!!!!
TCE
Not all of today's music is bad.. :( Granted, I don't listen to the radio all that often, because they tend to overplay some of my favorite songs.. One example of not all of today's music being bad.. Tool.. Love Tool, they recently put out a new album, their first in five years.. and it is EVERYTHING I've come to love about, respect, and expect from Tool. Now, these guys've been around for awhile.. I think you guys just need to keep an open mind. Not all of the current major bands are in it for the money, there's still a lot of respect for the music out there. As a matter of fact, the only band that I can truly say that's sold out is Green Day..
Besides, what's going on in the world has always affected music, literature, and art, from here known as the arts. Granted, a lot of what's been going on from circa 1990 to present, has been war.. Good artists and writers get inspiration from what's going on around them, whether it be personal, or otherwise. You say bands are in it for the money because they write about what people want to hear? I say nay. A perfect example would be when Dimebag was killed. The artistic community honored a fallen legend. They didn't do it for the money, they did it so that people would remember, and to help prevent something like this from happening again. Even the tattoo artists are into this one, with the "Six String Masterpieces" tour.
And remember, while music has always been about the music, for the better part of 40 years, it's also been about the money.. why else would bands tour, try to sell as many CDs as possible? Because they put their heart and soul into their music, and one cannot live on music alone, they have to eat, have to have a home, in this country, have to drive. But, it's always been about the music.
....................and when they drive, they HAVE to drive a Mercedes!
TCE
And Destined,
Neither Pantera or Tool are the bands I'm referring to. The members of Tool are some of the most accomplished players in the history of Rock, and Dimebag could have played circles around most of todays fare. All mentioned are forces to be reckoned with.
But this bubble gum shit is ridiculous, and these fuckers showing off their houses on Cribs, well, that's about anything EXCEPT music!!!!!
TCE
There's actually a name for that.. It's called New Money.. you see it with people who win the lottery too. It doesn't mean that it's any less about the music. As for myself, I'm happy driving my little Killed In Action..
you guys want something good to listen to i suggest i killed the promqueen - when goodbye means forever .. or misery signals - the year summer ended in june..
sounds emo.
nah, there far from emo
TCE IS gonna be a bit biased...he is probably too modest to say so but he is good friends with Steve Smith ( Journeys drummer) and goes on tour with him in his new band Vital Information...he also is friends with Mr DeGrasso....drummer for Megadeth and works in DeGrassos drum store...so TCE knows a bit about musid guys!
Dude!!!!!!!!!! Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! My views expressed are not necessarily those..................ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT THOSE, of the aforementioned parties!!!!!
Vital Information is a band that Steve formed in 1983, while he was still in Journey.................at the height of their career actually. He grew up playing Jazz, and it was his first love as far as the challenge of playing. The first two records, the debut Vital Information, and Orion, which was released in 1984, were out of print and unavailable for years, but have recently been remastered and released on CD.
And Jimmy................................was the drummer for Megadeth for about the last three years of their success.
He has also played with Suicidal Tendencies, Ozzy, Alice Cooper (can be seen in Wayne's World), Y&T, Lita Ford, Ronnie Montrose, and is currently playing with David Lee Roth..........
He owns his own drum store in San Jose called San Jose Pro Drum, which he opened in mid 2004, and has been doing very well.
The store has some excellent teachers, and hosts clinics throughout each year, the last one being sponsored by Zildjian, Sabian, and Pearl, and featuring Dennis Chambers and Chad Smith.
Ummm, well, that's my plug for Jimmy!!!
TCE
Tim I have benn listing to both those cds you sent me and I just can't get enough...a welcome breath of fresh air man!!...And Virgil loves em too! His favorite is "catwalk" he loves that song and has his own little set of lyrics he sings to it....hey maybe they can hire him for a frontman!...He is short but charismatic!...LOL!!!
Thanks again man...gonna get many hours of enjoyment from the cds!!
Those guys are all BAD MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!!! Listen to Baton Rouge.................that 5 reduction intro is badass, and Tom Coster is the only fucker that can make the accordion cool!!
TAz,
Catwalk is a cool groove..................They use that one a lot for soundcheck at their shows. That's awesome that the kid digs it!! I can't wait for the next CD, which will probably be done by the end of the year.
You ever check out the band Porcupine Tree? It's prog rock, a little bit guitar prevalent............but some cool stuff. Prog is as close to metal as I usually like to get.
TCE
I LOVE metal...but only the intelligent type....I detest that screaming 3 powerchord bullshit that passes for metal anymore....and all the so called heavy bands with guitar players that only seem to be able to play 3 down tuned chords ( but they play em REAL FAST!) but who wouldn't know a myxolidian scale from a tampax and NEVER play a solo...don't get me started on vocals that are in reality guttural growling and screaming..ACK!!!
I would as soon listen to rap God forbid!!
Try to download from somewhere the tune "The Sound of Muzak" by Porcupine Tree............................it's a good summary of the state of todays music affairs.
..................and the drum groove is nothing short of brilliant! Hail Gavin Harrison!!!!
I am going to a site to find it right now!
See if you can find the lyrics too.................
YUP!!
Might take a minute...I gotta do it on the laptop in the hearse.
What are you doing, cruising around? Or making out?
The album it's on is called 'In Absentia', it's the second to the most recent release. Lot's of guitar oriented stuff.
TCE
I'm cruizin with a beautiful young lady and shes drivin!! That way I'm free to do the forum thing man!
Dude, awesome!!!!! Crank that fucker up!!!!!!!!!!!
She have any friends? I'm flying solo you know.
You have a girlfriend but don't trip ...when ya get here I'll share...you can have last years TAzettes!...Hell some of em are damn near 25 and thats pushin the limits for me pal!
I give em candy!
Okay, sssshhhhh!!
Any luck with the download, or just downtime?
Well Tim with the red flashing lights in the back window and the delicious distraction sitting next to me I just got ...welll distracted!
And now I think I may just get a little MORE distracted!
WAH HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a lucky TAz indeed!
Cheers!
Get 'er done!
Well taz, you just gotta pick up the right kind of screaming metal. I agree that a lot of it is pretty shitty. But there's a few bands out there that are really damn good...take Opeth for example. They do a great job of giving you a wide range of sounds all in one package. I can listen to a 10 minute song and feel as if just 5 minutes has passed. Their album damnation also just goes to prove that they actually have talent and that they dont have to rely on a bunch of screaming and power chords. Also a band that is in it for the long haul...believe they've been puting out albums since 95', and have around 8 out. So ya know, there's hope yet for the future of music.
Oh and TCE...Porcupine Tree...phenomenal, I'm in love, haha. I'm seriously going to have to get some lists from you guys...I dunno what I'm missing.
Jeremy ...been an Opeth fan for a long time...in fact I Have one of the first underground cds!
---"Hey Fuckers!!!....Yeah Dudes and Dudets...have yall heard that new Mastadon, mix of Iron Maiden, fused with some kILLER Canibal Corspe, and then splashed with a bit of Zeplin???"
--"Fuck no I havent heard that shit....fucking shit would rock my fucking socks off....heavy as a giant fucking bazooka"
---"Yeah man....that new Tool shit is ingenious...He also made that Killer fucking album A Perfect Circle talking about his gnarly Herion addicition"
---"No fucking way?!?!?!"
WAIT A FREAKING MINUTE....is this forum about tattooing or jerking off??
Take that rockstar tattooing shit somewhere else.
You dont see me up here starting threads about Grant Green do you???????????
Personally I dont dig Rock music......BUT THIS FORUM IS ABOUT TATTOOING......
But its the same place everybody does "Tazfest" or "Tazarooonie" posts and jock a girl with piss poor tattoos cause she showed some skin.
Get over it freaks...
Gabe....this website is plummiting. Why are you featuring all these artists with not-so-stellar work???
Some of the shit I read, see, and digest on this site is just plain............dumb.
This coming from a punk who never contributes anything but smartass remarks?...Yeah well fuck you whoever you are ...wheres YOUR work punk?....And what...afraid to say who you really are?
Jealous because no one takes YOU seriously?
Get a grip!
....
Jeremy,
The reality is, for whatever reason, and whether you like it or not, your musical tastes will change throughout your life................... even the shit your parents made you endure and embarrassed you with when you were younger will at some point finally leave a positive mark on you.
Some of it will be out of sheer boredom.......................I still love everything I grew up listening to, but only when I go back and listen to it periodically. I could never listen to it every day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well maybe some of it.
Neil Peart recently wrote an autobiography based on how the music of each period of his life had a profound effect on him...............it's really an interesting way to go about relaying his life story.
I love Porcupine Tree, and some of the other progressive stuff like Spocks Beard and Dream Theater, although again, I'm starting to get bored with the latter. I'm rarely impressed with metal that can easily and effectively be replicated by any garage band on my street.
And Who Gives a Shit,
If Gabe decides that he doesn't want us to post about anything other than tattoos, he will post a request, and we will respect HIS wishes..................................If you don't like it, don't read it!!!!
TCE
We spend mucho time on this forum answering questions from people on here and this asswipe has the NERVE to even comment on us?...Well FUCK HIM...have you ever seen HIM answer one just ONE damn question?...Hell no!
Like he is even WORTHY of making a comment?...SHEE ITTT!!!!
TCE
So true. Our tastes definitely change as we grow. I just hope that my taste for GOOD music doesn't change. I'd like to think that the older I get, the better understanding I have of music, and that I have a higher appreciation for it. I do welcome the change though. We are on this world for such a short time, I can never hope to experience all there is, but I damn well try. And I'm the same way with music. I'm constantly looking for more, almost as if I'm searching for the perfect song, and even if I find it, like you said, my tastes will change, and the search continues. But that's just me, I love music. Hell, I was a band geek in high school :). Picture this if you will...a kid dressed in all black, like...thos big black pants you get at hot topic, with the chains, ect...some eyeliner and some black finger nail polish, sitting there in band class playing on a clarinet. Now I don't dress like that anymore, but if that doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what will.
And who gives a shit.
Look, this is a forum. Yeah, it's basis happens to be tattoos, which does a great job of bringing in folks from all walks of life who love this art. It merely creates a community. Now I personally enjoy getting to know the ideas and opinions that come out of some of these artists. Creativity comes from everywhere, you can't just limit the forum because you don't like a couple posts. But those different posts are what makes it a forum, rather than just a list of FAQ, and the questions do get asked frequently. So you can kind of say that I give a shit.
Now I dont' know if somebody offended you by insulting brittany spears, or what. But you sound kind of angry. Why don't you just try joining in on the conversation. I think that once you start contributing something positive to the forum, you might find yourself actually /liking/ it. Don't be so bitter...If you want to see more tattoo posts, post em up yourself, nobody's stoppin ya.
Now you say you don't like rock...well, what /do/ you like? What do you think makes good music, ect.
Jeremy I gotta give you props...you are the most intelligent young people that post on this forum...for as young as you are you always seem to be the voice of reason even when us old fuggers get off base....Just wanted to tell ya that I appreciate your opinions...you are wise beyond your years1!
Coming from you man, that sure means a lot. I'm just glad I found this place. I've been able to learn tons of invaluable information about tattooing and its art. I also learn a lot from the other posts too. You should have seen my brother's suprise when he found out that I found this 9/11 video on a TATTOO forum.
Anyone who doesn't realize that there are some damn intelligent people here, along with some damn good tattoo artists, is really just an idiot. And if you wanna be that way, that's fine with me,but to pass up the opportunities that are here...now that's beyond stupidity.
Hey man, we'd better move over to that music forum with our band chat.....................wouldn't want to get anyones panties in a bunch.
And later on, I found a good 'Kill Lindsay' forum for when to talk turns again........................I'm still looking for a good f.......oh, nevermind about that!!
Yes this IS a tattoo forum and yes we address tattoo issues and do it thoroughly I think and then we sometimes post on other subjects.
Man does not live by tattoo alone!!...And tattoos ARE closely related to music....Do you know how many tattoo artists are musicians too? ...A LARGE percentage...like the man said if ya don't like what people post just read the posts that interest YOU!!
Everyone is different and has different interests...l;ets be a bit more open minded...again if ya don't like it or aren't interested in the subject matter DON"T READ IT! Or put in your two cents.... thats what makes it a PUBLIC forum!!
DAMMITTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have visited many tattoo forums and this is STILL the very BEST!!!
Ok Tim...Porcupine tree....This is the kind of music I'd play if I were going to play professionally again....with some mods of course...stronger vocals and a much more agressive guitar....But I have been listening to them for hours now and I REALLY REALLY like em a LOT!!!...Thanks for the heads up bro!!!
My fave tunes are Deadwing...Blackest eyes and Shallow
Cool Dude!!!!!!!!! I have Deadwing too, but it just doesn't seem to have as much substance as In Absentia, but there are a few good tunes, that being one of them............
Did you find 'The Sound of Muzak'?
YEP!
That tune does it for me, the momentum and changes are awesome!!......................also the first tune on that same record.
Blackest Eyes..................you said that, DUH!
