Opinions of his work?
One of the best around and a hell of a cool guy to boot.
he's incredible!! i will be tattooed by him eventually he's amazing.
oh and joshua ....you're the shit too. i want to buy your latest book where can i get it?
He is in my eyes one of the best that has ever been. I would be thrilled to be tattooed by him. Breathtaking art.
Extremely talented. Worth flying to.
as everyone else said, excellent top of the heap artist, if that opportunity knocks where you can get work by him, definitely take it!
Kore Flatmo, Shige and Hori-Yen all do a similar Neo Japanese style. Also to a certain degree -- Kurt Wiscombe is doing that sort of thing. At that level it comes down to personal preference and whether their style appeals to you or not.
I have been on his waiting list for like 9 months now. I have fired emails to him about once a month. Still nothing setup yet. Its going to be a long wait, but I know its worth it. I will keep emailing till I get in. I have also heard that you have to pay his hourly rate for him to do a study. Is this true?? And how does that work out? Are you looking at a grand for him to do a draw up even before you do a sit??
I believe that the study is just something that you can ask him to do, like a painting. Its not mandatory.
I wasn't quite sure what the studies were either. I called their shop once upon a time and what I can gather is that the studies are very large surface area pieces that he wants to do -- chest panel with 7/10s, back pieces etc. He will draw it up for your body type and commit you to it until it's done. Still at $250 an hour something like this is going to cost you around $10,000!!!! His clientele must be very affluent!!
Well I will just keep up with the emails. He is probably the only artist out their right now that I am interested in, other than Dan Marshal and Liorcifer.
Keep up the effort. It is so so worth it. I have a side panel that is very big that we have been working on. We are 15 hrs in and almost done. He is a phenomonal artist and a very kind man. He is easily worth the wait and the money. Once you are in, he will consistently book you. He will create a study for you so that you can see what his ideas are. Once you see what he draws up, or paints, you will be glad he took the time. He will consistently surpass all of your expectations. What's more, the experience of every step of the entire process will be a very positive one. He is highly respected and for good reason. You can see my work on his website under Sterling (the updated progress is not up yet) or check out my profile on inked nation. My user name is MrSterling. There you can see the progress we have made. The pictures do not do it justice however. When we are done, we are going to start on my other side. If you can be patient, you will be greatly rewarded. Kore kills it.
Mr Sterling...that is some of the greatest art work I have ever seen. I know what you mean about booking. Thats how they use to do it at Last Rites.. Once your in your in, getting in is the hard part.
Thank you Agent. I appreciate it.
Mr Sterling I tried to send you a message of at Inked Nation. I have a few off board questions for you....thanks
I'd just like to echo what has been said here about Kore Flatmo. He is undoubtedly a very talented artist, but he is also a genuinely nice guy, and a really interesting person to chat with. The whole Plurabella studio is a good place to be around. You really couldn't wish to meet a better bunch of people. It is a four thousand mile round trip for me to visit the studio - but I can't see myself going anywhere else. Mt Sterling - love the chest panel, especially the placement of the scull. My work is two above you on the web site, set 15 Simon. Since these pics the colour has been added, and I'm 3/4 way through the other sleeve.
Just wanted to know Simon... What type of time line are we looking at for your work? How many sits, how many hours???
Simon, I have seen your work, and the color that has been added to it. It looks amazing. I read your article in Skin Deep as well. You are doing your other sleeve there as well, right?
Agent - the pictures one the Plurabella site show the sleeve after about 18 hours work, which was done on two consecutive days. Probably took another 5 or 5 hours sitting to finish the sleeve off, which is all done now. Sterling - yep, Kore is doing the other sleeve as well. Should be getting it finished at the end of the month. Really looking forward to getting this work done, but that leaves the question, what next?
