i am thinking of getting 2 small dragons with a lion on my low and mid back but i have heard this is painful place. could you let me know how true this is. I only want 6 more tats and this one on the back and low back is going to be simular to what angie jolie has on her back not the same but the inspiration for what i am wanting to get done but like i said i hear the back is painful. i would be thankful for any details that can be offered.
Thanks

any help on this topic would be appericiated. thanks
don't forget to tip your artist
I don't mean to be a pussy but I had a tribal tattoo on my lower back about one month ago and I cried the entire time, it was soooo painful! Now it is raised and I'm told the artist was too heavy handed. However, it looks good......nice crisp lines. Anyways, be prepared for some pain.
thank you for your honesty i think i will pass i have 16 tattoos now and only one caused a smalll amount of pain and i was not fond of that so again thank you for your honesty
Honestly, I wouldn't base where you get a tattoo on how much it will hurt. You'll have this tattoo for the rest of your life. The pain won't matter in 10 years when you look at your amazing tattoo.
I am sure that is true but when it comes to pain i am not there for it at all. I have 16 tattoos and only one hurt and that was the last one i got......so when i heard it might hurt on the low back i thought i might reconsider. Then again i was told having the back of my neck done would be painful and my upper shoulders would hurt and it didnt hurt at all...........so at this time i think i will wait on the low back one no rush i can always give in later. thanks for all the advice you all are great!!!
Don't forget to tip you artist.
well i thought about it and went and got my low back tatoo and i am here to tell you there was no pain at all. I actuall had to have my tattoo artist to stop due to it tickling so i am a happy camper and i got a dragon on my shoulder as well. so all i can say it was a great time. I go back today to finish up due that we ran out of town. The low back it a mega tatoo and i am so happy with it. thanks for the advice from you all. I know i am a dare devel. after she finishes the back she is going to put 4 more tattoos and i think i will be done for about a well................lol.....untill another one captures my eyes...........take care and remember.

I got a medium sized, lower back tattoo and I sat there perfectly fine the whole time. It hurt WAY less than I expected. It really isn't bad at all.
Hi Dianna there is this cream that you can apply on your skin that can reduce the pain or eliminate the pain of the initial pain but this cream must be apply one hour before the tattoo is to be started and then after they start the tattoo they have this other cream that is use to put to eliminate the pain totaly after they start the coloring and I swear by it I for one did not believe it but had to see if it work before I recomended to a client and it did do what it say but if you have to give a urine for a job or probation avoid these creams they contain procaine and ladocaine and these ingredients will give you a false positive for cocaine I tell you this because beside a tattoo artist I am involve in helping people get of drugs and during urine test I use this cream and took a urine test to see if it is true and it did came with a false positive but once the urine comes back from the lab you are out in the clear. I will not put in here the name of these creams because I don't know if I am allowe to do so here. Just drop me a line and gladly I will give you the name and the company that supplies them. Take care and I hope I can be of any help.
thanks for all your support i got my low back tatoo and with so little pain that i smoked while the artist did her work.my next tattoo will be a gun that shows the handle and the rest of the gun will be hidden and then comes the wolf and last but not least will be the key of greece(its a greek think since i am half greek and half italian) I got my italian flag.so i got to get the key of greece.. oh yeah a little fairy on my hand too.. so far i have 18 and 20 is my limit...............yeah right............lol

I only have one tattoo.... one I rather dislike at that, done on my hip bone, right near my groin, and whenever I tell anyone about it, the first thing that always comes out of their mouth is "what a painful area." Truth is, it didn't hurt a bit, not even a little. Pain is all relative, you can ask a hundred people if the tattoo on your lower back will hurt, and they may all say yes, but in all honesty, it may not hurt for you. Everyone has different pain tolerence, and feel pain more signifigantly in different areas. If this tattoo is something that you really want, and means a great deal to you, do it! You never know, it may not hurt you at all.
Today, I got my first tattoo on my lower back, a flower with vines. Many people told me it doesn't hurt and many websites say it's not intolerable pain. Well, I was squeezing the chair so hard my hands went numb, my legs were shaking the WHOLE hour it took, I cried and almost threw up. I will not lie to anyone about the truth. I do believe everyone has a different tolerance to pain... but why do I have to be one of those people who feels it to the max??!! Good luck with it if you get tattoos there... just pray it doesn't hurt as bad as it did for me.
Hey guys
Im freaking out SOOOOOO BAD im getting a tat on my lower back of a horse for the first time and im scared to death, i do not have a very high tolerance level, so heres hoping i dont faint or anything :(
my gf has a tat on her lower back, and shes really sweet and cute, surely it cant be that bad right?
Once again i think it depends on the person, My low back tattoo is rather large and i have to be honest i felt no pain at all. I smoked while she did mine and drank a pop. Got sleepy when she got done it was like it only took a few min. I love the work and happy to have this one for the rest of my life.
Good Luck to you hope you dont have pain with yours and be like i was pain free and relaxed.
any tattoo hurts there are places that hurts more then others it relly depends on you endofins and how much pain you can with stand. i have had cliants say that wasnt that bad and i have had to stop on others . however dont let that stop you from geting one. you might be surprised with yourself. good luck.
I got my second tat last Saturday. I drew a picture of a G-clef (I'm a musician) with the wings of a butterfly specifically for my lower back.
It was very lovely piece and I took care to ensure it was perfect. The next day, I called a tattoo shop to ask how much it would cost to have a considerably large tat done and if they could do it right then and there. They said they could, so I went immediately.
When they saw it, they declined stating they had no one to complete it given its size and asked if I would take an appointment.
I wanted instant gratification. I declined and walked out.
I went to a second tattoo parlor located in the towns main train station.
The owner, who I mistook for a customer, asked if I had any tattoos as he sat quietly observing me from his spot on the lounge chair. I dropped my blouse on one side exposing the first tat I'd designed for myself located on my upper right arm -- a small pink heart enclosing a musical staff with my last name written out in music using the G-clef for the "G", a "quarter rest" for the "R" and of course A, C, and E, following.
It's musically accurate with each note shaded in a different color. Believing him to be the customer before me, I asked him what type of tat he was getting. He smiled and said, "None, I own the place". UP went my eyebrow and out came my artwork.
We became involved in discussing the intricacies of what would have to be cleaned up and reworked for my tat to be seen clearly. I agreed to return at night fall and we agreed on a set price.
He was a pleasant enough fellow with over thirty years of experience coming from a second generation family of tattoo artists. His place was impeccable. I was satisfied with what I'd seen.
When I returned, he showed me his rendition of my work, which for the most part was my drawing. He'd redesigned the center of the butterfly wings to look heavy and goth. I was not impressed. I wanted swirls, not chains, inside the wings shaded into different colors - similar to a "Peter Max" (artist famous for his brightly designed artwork back in the 60's).
I was able to speak up and state what I did NOT like and did not want on my body for the rest of my life. I had to be sure I was clear. I did NOT want to settle. Unfortunately I had already done so more than I had even imagined.
We discussed colors. I wanted another piece which would stand out for it's bright mirage of colors as my first tattoo does.
I believed that with all of his years of experience, he would know which colors went with what to give the most brilliance. He kept bringing out dark colors to match together.
I kept shaking my head, no. We decided on a Carribean Sea Aqua to be used for the heart of the drawing, G-Clef. He brought out a dark green teal and said he would use white to brighten it up.
I wanted fuscia wings. He said his pink never came out right and said the darker burgundy would do the trick. I asked for violet outlining the piece. Thank goodness, he had it.
He set up his work very neatly and cleanly. He had me sit very comfortablly on what seemed to be a birds perch, my feet resting on a chair in front.
I sat with most my bum exposed for all the world to see from the windows of his tattoo shop. It reminded me of a barber shop except passerbys were not looking at my new doo.
I'm very confident, so I did not mind. I don't know how someone else would have felt. I figured there was really no one passing by at night near the train station. I was right.
We began at 7:30 and ended at 10:30 because the pain was TOO INTENSE for me to continue and by that time, he finally realised I really had taken as much as I could. I was ready to pass out and I wasn't kidding.
My chief complaint, although we found lots to discuss and were both in our mid-40's .. quite far from being children ... was that he'd told me if ever I needed him to stop, I should just tell him and he would stop. That works.
To me .. STOP means STOP.
If I'm driving, I don't observe the sign and say.. wait up.. I'll stop by the next km, I STOP where the sign states to do so.
This was not the case with this artist.
I have an extremely high tolerance for pain, having experienced natural childbirth with only wonderful memories 23 years ago and having lived through enough to make me scoff at the weak; however, I was not ready for what I experienced.
It was UNBAREABLY PAINFUL MOST of the time. The outline worse than the shading.
Please read that a few times. I had eated properly and had plenty of water to drink. I was surprised at how intense the pain was the lower he got to my buttocks.
I breathed through it, talked through it, winced, shut my eyes tight, made a thousand faces and shook my head like a bull ready to charge; however, I took it like a woman. (Men couldn't do childbirth which is why God gave them a break)
When I finally screamed out, "STOP, ENOUGH, PLEASE", you KNOW I was clearly at the end of my rope and needing a second to recoup. I could no longer bare to feel hot needles being driven with lightning speed deeply into my dermis.
To my ultimate surprise, the artist chuckled saying, "hang on now, I've just this little area to finish so it'll come out even!".
HE DIDN'T STOP!
Coming out even was the last thing I cared about. I needed him to stop right then and there. He did not. He continued drilling. I had to live through the pain. When he finally DID stop after my shouting STOP, NOW, STOP, STOP, STOP, PLEASE, STOP. It seemed to be hours later (probably thirty seconds or a minute later).
I told him that was completely unacceptable and he needed to stop when I asked him to given he promised he would and I don't cry wolf. He chuckled again.
His fellow tattoo artist asked me if it hurt, I said like a bitch, it does. He whipped out his harmonica and played a me few bars, making me laugh and lightening my mood.
The artist told me to rest up, went next door and got me a bottle of water as a peace offering, I guess.
He invited me to go see his handy work and when I looked in the mirror, I saw my butterfly, one wing higher and larger than the other and wondered if my eyes were deceiving me or if in fact, he'd erred.
I know we'd placed the piece on my body and I checked it out well before we began, but the placement did not seem to be exactly where we'd agreed. It was much lower than I'd anticipated and there it was, for life.
Shadowing was next. Again there came a situation in which he did not stop when I asked him to. I wondered why the hell bother even telling him I was in pain if he really had no regard for me, just HIS masterpiece which --- HELLO ---- was attached to my nerve endings!
I bared it. The bright colors I wanted were very deep and dark. The colors reminded me of a glass of merlot, dark and foreboding.
Remember the teal he was to have lightened up using white? He must have forgotten. The carribbean sea aquat G clef was the color of my dirty DARK teal/green corolla.
The colors were so dark against my very pale complexion. The part I liked the most was where he hadn't completed the work, the last two bottom wings.
We agreed I was to return when the piece healed so that he could complete the rest. I gave him the amount agreed upon, which I'd placed in a sealed envelope.
I did NOT tip my artist.
I was cordial, shook his hand, found myself saying thank you instead of F*** you, but had already decided it would a cold day in hell before I returned to be tattoo-raped by someone who had no clue what a tight bond and trust there needs to be between a true artist and his walking, talking canvas.
The bottom wings resembled a smaller bum placed above my own crack. The G-clef looked like the neck of a custom guitar and not the middle of a butterfly.
Not one to be outdone and absolutely non confrontational, I allowed imagination to take over already rethinking how to redraw the mess seen behind me, so that the uneven wings would be the INSIDE of even larger perfectly drawn wings, and the bottom wings drawn as I'd drawn them -- longer at the tips.
His after care tips seemed clear enough, but not having much experience, it left a lot of wiggle room for failure.
It said do not submerge in bathTUB, no sauna, swimming.
I showered with hot water hitting the spot twice daily for about ten to fifteen minutes per day, not realising this too constituted "submerging". Don't wet for long periods of time for X days, get in, get clean, get out, might have been clearer to beginners like myself.
His instructions did say use a mild white soap three to four times per day followed by a very light A & D type ointment.
It did NOT state WAIT UNTIL THE AREA DRIES COMPLETELY BEFORE APPLYING LOTION.
Not realising my demise and never having had an issue with the tiny tat on my arm, I trapped enough water between that new tat and the ointment to swim in.
The pain was unbareable. It felt as though he was still drilling days later. I could NOT sleep. The pain was always there. I couldn't sit in my car seat comfortably strapped in.
This tat was no match for my well fitted corporate costumes nor the two hour commute back home. Twelve hours locked up in clothing day after day.
When I returned home, I had to peel the clothes off the tattoo area, day in, day out.
When I woke up in the morning, I would be stuck to the sheet leaving scab and colored gook behind each day.
The tat was scabbing badly, despite my cleaning it three times a day and applying the triple antibiotic ointment. The pain worstened each day.
I was going to the ladies room at work to cleanse my tat twice per work day, applying ointment on a damp tat.
Four days later, I should have been applying a fragrance free moisturizer, but the after-care directions said nothing of the sort. It just said to clean it three to four times per day with mild soap, pat dry and apply ointment.
Another giant mistake on my part was to use the soap provided in the office bathroom, a heavily perfumed wash soap believing it more important to continuously wash this area (trapping MORE water between the tat and the ointment with each washing) than it was to keep it DRY.
The pain worstened. When I ran out of A & D, I got NEOSPORIN plus PAIN.
Word to the wise, don't use this product as it draws out the ink.
Well, if I wanted a bright tattoo, I sure got one. The color had drawn out so that FUSCIA is now light pink, TEAL, is the color of the carribbean sea, BURGUNDY is a rusty-red and VIOLET is a drab dull light purple.
The following Saturday, yesterday, found me at my doctors office by eight a.m.
He viewed my reddened, raised, scabbed mess and said, o.k.,
antibiotics for you AND bactiban cream.
You are to use a very light dressing leaving it mostly open so that it can breath. You are doing this to protect it from your clothing. You must wear loose clothing.
You are allergic to Neosporin and it is not the choice with tattoos. It's much too harsh for most skin types after tattooing and will draw out the color. He perscribed "Bactiban" which has been on back order in America for weeks.
My day consisted of calling every pharmacy in town and surrounding towns trying to locate my miracle cure. I found it at a large food store which had its own pharmacy.
I've already used the Bactiban three times and the ingested antibiotic twice. The pain has subsided. The tattoo is scabbed. The skin is tough.
I've already seen enough tattoos on line to give me wonderful ideas and have completed the artwork which will straighten out this tat.
Once I'm completely healed, I will return to a tattoo artist I will find and bond with -- all the wiser and all the stronger -- to have the tattoo of my dreams on my lower back for life.
My best regards,
JG
JG:
I am sorry you had a bad time. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. My low back tattoo didnt hurt at all......i drank a coke and smoked when i had mine done. The artist i have now has done all but one of my tattoos and she is great at her work. She tattooed her own foot so she knows pain she had to stop several times. So when you tell her to stop she does. I always bring in my sketches for her if they are too small she enlarges them to fit the area i want and if to large she makes them smaller. I am due this week to get another tattoo and look forward to it. Best of luck to you
Dianna
Don't forget to tip your artist.
I just got my first tattoo last night and I came to this website to read about what it might feel like to have one on my lower back. I was so nervous after reading all the horror stories and asking around. But when I got mine done....IT DIDN'T EVEN HURT!!! Maybe it's about tolerance and relaxation, but it actually TICKLED!!! It's touching my tailbone and everything and it wasn't painful. I had a great session, my artist was cool, and the tattoo itself is EAXCTLY how I wanted it to look. Perfect!!! Make sure the shop is immaculate (mine was just like a doctor's office) and if they are really good, they will have a "sit-down" consultation with you like they did with me before my appointment. They were very clean, and they had PORTFOLIOS of each of their artists' work. Make sure you eat and drink lots of water before hand (no alcohol or weed yall) and relax....breathe out while they are doing it, if you are tense it might hurt. But enjoy it and have a conversation....it was great for me!!! I will probably get another one!
I found the low back a lot less painfull then some of my other tatoo's
(My inner ankle so far has hurt the most)
Happy Inking!!!
Manders
WELL THIS IS NOT REALLY A PAINFUL PLACE TO GET IT CONSIDERING I HAVE ONE THERE.......IT ONLY HURTED ME WHEN IT WAS NEAR THE BONE BUT THATS ALL
I got myself all worked up an i almost didnt go through with it and then i thought im here now so if i dont do it now i never will. So i sat in the chair and was really uncomfortable and nervous then he started doin the tattoo and i chilled out it didnt hurt at all. The most painful part of the whole experience was the position i had to sit in but it was totally worth it in the end.
I have a tattoo on my lower back...my artist was also a little heavy handed in some areas of the tattoo and it is raised. As for pain that was the least painful of my 3 tattoos that I have. I actually started to fall asleep while my artist was doing it. Hopefully I will be adding more to it soon.
It doesn't hurt that bad. it's more irritating. The only thing is when it 's over your backbone it gets kinda scrapes a little. But when the artist stops it's over. Mine only took 1 1/2 so longer ones should be a snap, because after an hour my back was kinda numb. The outline hurt the worst!! I would definitly recommend it. I love mine. But I told my friend the experience I had and she went and got one and said it was really painful. I guess it's your pain threshold. It really de\oesn't hurt that bad. I want another one on the back of my neck. My lower back was my first one so it was pretty good.
okay well i'm 17 and my mom was thinking me and her would go and get tattoos together lol, and i really want one on my lower back . . nothing to big or extravagent. the one i was looking at is like 5 inches across, no color or anything. well i've read the lower back is an area where it is painful to get a tattoo and most of the people that have replied on here say it's not. . i'm not quite sure my tolerance of pain but i've peirced my ears a few times, and i pierced my bellybutton a few years back ( i know not to smart ) so do you think i should be able to take the pain, and if not is it still just worth it for me to go and get it anyway? ... thanks .. ang
It drives me CRAZY when people compare the pain of a tattoo with the pain of a piercing. Tattoos are literally a ROAD RASH!!! Piercings are a tiny stab!!!! Arrgh! This really frustrates me a lot. You cannot say that you have a high pain tolerance because you have a few piercings. You might have a high tolerance but those piercings do not tell you anything about your ability to handle pain unless it is a major piercing like a corset piercing, surface piercings (depending on location), a septum, nostrils, nipples, or genital piercings. THOSE are painful. Sit for a three hour tattoo of JUST outlining and THEN you will know if you have a high pain tolerance or not. ARRGH!
I got a tattoo of a rose on my lower back and it didnt hurt at all..
this may sound strange but now i'm getting worried if it was actually done right cause most people say it hurts... xx
OK, I can say that back tattoos do not hurt me. That does not mean that it won't be bad for you. You can never tell until you get started. If the pain is a deterent then you probably don't want the tattoo as much as you think you do and you might want to rethink it all together.
You know what we call those lowerback tattoos in the industry?
what a long story ........jeez ......you sound high maintanence.
Not sure what you call them in the "industry"... but my husband calls mine a target.
Not sure what you call them in the "industry"... but my husband calls mine a target.
Not sure what you call them in the "industry"... but my husband calls mine a target.
I've heard the term "Tramp Stamp" and "Ass Hat" thrown around a few times.
i heard there called tramp stamps
or hooker handles forget the pain
Ass Antlers is my favorite, although Tramp Stamp is short and rhymed enough for a viscious little comment to someone wearing low-rider jeans and a thong.
I have a medium sized lower back piece and I think you can handle it. I even had a hang over when the color went in. THAT made it rough! So, don't go out with friends and drink red wine the night before. Ten years later I'm still in love with it!
Link I think may work?

Hey so i want to get a tattoo, on my lower back, but more to the side, and even lower, does anyone think that will hurt? I have a feeling it will hurt much less then the middle of your lower back but i'm not sure . . . any suggestions? I have one on my hip, its tiny, it didnt hurt what so ever. but then again it's tiny.
i just had a lower back tat done 4 days ago a 3-d butterfly with tribal and my sons name it and it really didn't hurt that much i didnt make one whimper i did kinda move funny once or twice because it hurt but hey its really a piece of cake.
Well ladies, I don't know if they hurt or not, and I don't think it makes much difference what people call them but I gotta say, for my dollar, lower back tattoos are about sexy as hell. Maybe not the most original thing in the world, but neither are fishnet stockings, and they sure as hell still do the trick! I say, LOWER BACK TATS FOR ALL THE LADIES! BELLY UP TO THE BAR!
Al maybe I have had one too many TazBlasters tonight(e-mail for recipe) But dammit I think YOU would look good with a "tramp stamp"...TAz
And I'll do it for FREE!!!!
Sheeeiiiiittttt! Never thought about it. Well, hell. I dunno. I'll give it some thought. I am NOT gonna wear fishnet stockings though... not without a black rubber mini skirt anyway.
Sheeeiiiiittttt! Never thought about it. Well, hell. I dunno. I'll give it some thought. I am NOT gonna wear fishnet stockings though... not without a black rubber mini skirt anyway.
what's a little pain ladies, prepares you for giving birth!
(yeah RIGHT!)
NOW that's freakin' pain!
but, like your tat...the end result is well worth it.
All tattoos have a different pain and feeling.
When I had one on my hip I couldn't stop laughing because it tickled so much. The one on my bum was more embarrasing than painful, but when I had the one done on my upper arm it hurt like mad and at one point I thought the tattooist was tattooing my neck!!!
I'm having a large back piece done in a couple of weeks so we will see how that goes!!!
My tattoo is located on my lower back off to the right side. I didn't want it to be right in the middle because it's a very meaningful memorial tattoo and I figured that because the middle of the lower back is such a popular spot for tattoos these days, it would take away the seriousness of it... I don't know, it wasn't very symmetrical anyway, wouldn't have looked right.
The whole tattoos vs. piercing thing... I don't care how many piercings you've had ( I have 7) tattoos are a completely different animal. The night before I got my first tattoo I was telling my boyfriend, who is also tattooed and pierced, that I would be fine because I had piercings and they didn't hurt that bad. He just laughed at me.
EVERYONE is different when it comes to pain. The pain of my tattoo was not what I expected, it didn't feel good, but I didn't feel like I was dying either. I guess I was making some weird ass faces when my artist was working on the outline. I think you just have to take it for what it is, an hour (or more) of pain for something that will last the rest of your life...
If you really can't stand pain a tattoo probably isn't for you... I feel bad for the artists that have to listen to someone sob the entire time that they are doing the tattoo. I've heard of artists that have just told people to leave because they are crying and moving around too much, I just have to wonder what possessed these people to get tattooed in the first place...
I am a 48 year old woman with Multiple Sclerosis. My boyfriend, who is 34, has no tatoos and will probably not be too happy with me when I do it. But I have wanted a tatoo for most of my life. I am now entertaining the thought of actually getting one. But now I want two. I am worried about the pain, but I figure if I wanted one thiry years ago, and I still do, then I have to do it. I want small one on the center of my lower back and a large one on my outer calf. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. I'm scared to death!
Thanks,
Cissy
Cissy, I'm gonna make it my personal project to make you feel okay about this. First of all, let me compliment you on your bravery. I know a little about this disease. I was diagnosed with it by accident for a short time when I was 16. I don't have it, but believe me, It left a lasting impression on my that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, so let me tell you something baby....
I think if you want one, you god damned well deserve it. If it will make you happy, there are a lot of us out there who will not only understand your choice, but you will receive a lot more positive feedback about it than you think. I think it's a wonderful testament to your internal strength, which is obviously quite indominable.
So here's what to expect. Pick a place where you like the artists. Go to some shops, ask them about their safety procedures, and ask to see their portfolios, and make sure the person you pick is a custom artist who you really like their work.
Have a basic idea of what you want, pay the small deposit, and let the artist do their thing. Relax, and enjoy the process. It's very cool, and very meaningful. THe artist will come back with something cooler than you ever dreamed.
Then comes the tattoo part. Sweetheart, the pain of a tattoo is nothing compared to what you have already experienced in your life, so don't worry about it. Basic rule... Bony areas hurt more than fatty fleshy areas, but even though it is a little painful, like I said, you'll be fine. My advice? The best thing to make the pain less is to really get into the experience... RELAX! Enjoy it... watch the artist work on you if you can... don't tense up. The anticipation of a tattoo is way, way worse than the artwork itself. Especially the first time.
Then you are in. It's done. You've joined a new tribe, and you'll never be the same person you were before. You'll be different. You'll notice more self-confidence, and a fresh new view of yourself. You'll love your work, and because it's personal to you, you'll be glad you did it.
The healing process is almost identical to if you got a pretty decent sunburn. In otherwords, the first night it feels kinda raw. Like you fell and scraped yourself. The next night the pain seems pretty much gone. Over the course of the next week, it will start healing, and just like a sunburn, you'll notice your skin will peel a bit. And, just like a sunburn, it will itch like hell while it peels and you'll LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
In about 2 weeks it will be more or less healed up, and you will love how you look, and whom you have become. Go for it Baby! You've waited long enough, and you've been through enough. You've earned it. Just one request... What are your ideas?? and will you keep us posted about the different steps, like when you get your appointment, etc. so we can be here and be supportive for ya??
Al
And Cissy, there's really no reason to be scared.
Remember, biologically, scared and excited are exactly
the same thing! Be excited about your choice!
Peace and love...
AL
Cissy..first of all thank you so much for your post!...Al (Daddy Rose) pretty much covered it all...get a tattoo because YOU want it...its YOUR body dear!...People sometimes exaggerate the pain...in the areas you are thinking about you will be just fine...when you go for your tattoo remember to eat a light meal...drink plenty of water or juice and keep some hard candy with you...now you make sure that you keep in touch with the TattooNOW family...we would love to know how things went and if you have any more questions just let us know!
Good tattooing sweetie!!...TAz, Painted Angel Studios!
I say let's stop knocking lower back tattoos (yes, I even have one)...So what if everyone seems to have one...
NOTHING IS ORIGINAL. What hasn't been done???
Now people are going back to the most basic of tattoo designs (thinking old school traditional, WWI stuff) just to find/have something "ORIGINAL" on them.
But behold, traditional designs have become marketed to the masses. In trendy clothes and hats....It sux. Check out this link to see....

Sad how everything becomes a trend eventually,
Tima
Tima, done or not, I'm not knocking low back tats. I love them. They are my favorite on women, and I' think they are sexy as hell.
BDRose~
Agreed :)
I was just saying it to the women/folks who say a lower back tat too common for them to get one done.
They want something "original"......
But the word or thought of something "original" is kinda passe, since (just about) everything being done has been done before.

I have a dragonfly tattooed on my shoulder blade and am getting one at the bottom ofmy back in a couple of weeks. Will it hurt more than my shoulderblade one did?
Okay, so im going in to get my lower back tattoo on thursday, and im nervous and stoked all at the same time. Now, this may sound strange, but im 18 and have had four kidney stones. so im used to lower back pain. If anyone can relate, does the pain relate to that at all? Because if it doesnt, i think ill be able to handle it.
Tina, speaking from experience kidney stones are like a bazillion times worse than ANY tattoo!!
okay heres the deal i have had a lower back tattoo and it did hurt the guy who did mine made me sit up the entire time, it took 2and a half hours to get it done and bye the time he was done with the outline i was begging him to stop i even told him the 250.00 i paid for it he could have just dont touch my back anymore of course he would not buy such talk and he finished it i believe i cryed more so because of the fact that i could not control my legs and the sweating was insane due to the pain and i have a pretty high threshold for pain but at that moment my threshold for pain deminshed quickly but i am going back to get 5 more i have 5 already i just wont get anymore on my lower back not that there is any room anyway but i feel like the pain threshold differs in different people so go for it also the tattoo on my back is of two big dragon eyes with quite a few different colors and when i bend over they only get bigger so like i said before if you havent done it all ready GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i will not lie to you like i was lied to and say it doesnt hurt because it hurt me.
Hi. The pain when I got my lower back tattoo was the worst I ever felt. I'm not kidding. It feels like a hot razor digging into and dragging across your skin. I had to take some deep breaths and imagine something peaceful to take my mind off of the pain. My tattoo is on the top of my buttocks so that's real low down. It took an hour and 45 min. to do and was $150.00. It turned out beautiful. I have 3 roses with shading and leaves. I love it but the pain was almost unbearable. One thing to consider with a low back tattoo is where on your back do you want it? How far down towards the buttocks do you want it to go? If you get it on top of them like I have them, you will have to wear your pants and underwear down around your hips while it heals which I thought was a pain because my pants sagged all the time and it was painful to drive a car. The small of the back would have been a better place for me to get it. Also, how big and how much detail do you want it? The bigger and more detailed, the longer it will take to put it on, the more expensive and the more pain. It is worth it though if you can make it through the pain. I don't regret doing it but I'll never forget what I had to go through to get it.
