koi tattoos mean good luck and there is a legend about koi turning into dragons
There are a few meanings behind the Koi tattoo, the most common of which is it being a symbol of determination or perserverance. Cinese & Japanese mythology suggests that Koi that manage to swim all the way upstream through the rapids of the Yangtze river will be rewarded by being transformed into dragons.
Ever notice how most of the time you see 'em swimming upwards?
Other meanings include strength and good luck.
the koi has a few meanings, one being strength and perserverance, the other is in regards to the japanese story of life and how we all start out as a koi and have to cross a river (which represents our life) and by the time we reach the other side, we are a dragon.
ive seen sketches and tattoos of the 'adolescent' phase, half koi, half dragon and some are absolutely fantastic, with one artist in mind, Dimitri HK, but his sketchbook costs around £50, so not very cheap.
