About a year ago, I found out something tragic that completey changed my life, I had a tumor in my liver. I did undergo surgery at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to get it removed, and it made such a big impact in my life. This happened when I was 15 years old. I am now 16. Due to being sick, I missed a lot during my sophomore year of high school. My parents are allowing me to get a meaningful tattoo that stands for the hardship I had to deal with. I really cannot think of anything, but this means the world to me, and if someone could help me, it would be wonderful.
Thank you.

what about a set of angel wings? i don't know if you are religious but if you are, you could get a set of angel wings to stand for your guardian angel always watching over you.
I dont know whats the law on getting a tattoo in your city with parents aproval, so I wont get in to that.
But the meaning should be something that comes from your heart. If you like Old-School tattoos with more simple and direct images, theres a lot of stuff that deals with courage and perseverance. And in japanese imagery you have legends of great about courage and good luck. You have a lot of possibilitys, and they dont have to be japanese or Old-School if you dont want to. The most important thing is that it is somethi g that you feel good about, and you can get something like that if you go to a good artist Tattoo artists in Pennsylvania they can make thing appear that you have in your head, and thats called href="http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Custom_tattoo">Custom Tattoo
In that way you can have all the things you have on your mind turned to your skin :) And most important part is that you go to a good artist. Ask around and tell them to show you there port folio. The first link has good ones in it. Happy hunting! :D
get a picture of a liver with the tumor on it as a remembrance of what you had.
how about praying hands? or maybe a heart with angel wings on each side.
How about something like your favourite flower. with crossed bones behind it, kinda likeee how life is beautiful but it can be taken away or ruined quickly, representing how you've endured the hardships and understand and enjoy every minute of life and take nothing forgranted
how about just an angel. to represent either your gardian angel watching over you or to represent the courage you had to keep living...to keep flying
I had some hard times myself, a little different than yours, but nonetheless i had struggles and i made it through. I got a tattoo of a phoenix bird, its a mythological bird on fire meaning perserverance, strength, and hope. They really look awesome and have a huge spiritual meaning. Hope this helps.
Hang in there.
First thing, im sorry to hear about what happened to you and its great to see you got through it, keep going, youl only get stronger. i think its a great idea, it has a great meaning. you will be able to look at it in years to come and say i got through something which could have killed me and im still standing here now.
good luck on getting it done
You could maybe get a vine or barbed wire to represent your hardships, and if you were really well supported by your friends and or family you could get "forever family" or "forever strong" or you could be a badass and say "bring it" or something like that.
hey just a suggestion, why dont you get a small tattoo that symbolises strength or courage. As you would obviously be a very strong person becasue of what you dealt wiv. theres some good ones on the net go to google search n jus type it in. Maybe the egyptian ankh would also be great as it represents life. these would both be small tattoos but very meaningful.
Hi i had cancer when i was younger and wanted something to remember it and represent the fact im stil here i had 'survivor' in chinese lettering, its made up of 3 symbols, 1st meaning lucky/fortunate 2nd to survive and 3rd meaning person = survivor.
i am going thro hard times too..physically and mentally and am thinking of getting " what doesnt kill me makes me stronger" in maybe spanish i think that would suit your circumstanses aswell.. i have the word KIAKAHA tattoo'd on my inner wrist which means to be strong and stand tall in New Zealand Maori language-good luck with your tattoo xx
if you havent yet gotten it... i know someone who got a medical symbol... it looks really tight and definitely has a lot of meanings... the cool thing about it is that it includes the wings which a lot of people have suggested
In my family there has been a couple suicides and in June I'm getting a tattoo of a daffidil (the flower that represents hope) and the word hope written underneath it. The tattoo would represent no matter how bad things get, have hope that they'll get better.
How about the grim reaper with the word CANCER in the shadows of his cloak, being slain by a valiant knight (think George and the Dragon)? - something that tells a story of an event, perhaps even with a date? Personally I'd wait a few years to be sure that you were fully clear of the cancer cells (not wanting to tempt fate). Good luck!.
get a pair of shackled hands breaking free which obviously symbolizes you breaking free of your evil tumorsome past
well idk how you would feel about this but try something that clearly states what happend maybe like a hand holding a medical tool and cutting into the organ which had the tumor with maybe some words like Courage i think that would be cool and best of luck to you with everything
ive had a few personal issues this part year and went for a Koi/japanese sleeve to give me the strength and courage to carry on, ive also had the words "i cause myself pain so others cannot" put on my back,.. its one i know is there and another reminded of why i had my tattoos done...
like whats been said at the top of the page, you need to choose something that will make you smile, but in the same way remind you of the battle. Keep your chin up.. ;)
I would say the word strength. Seeing as you had the strength and courage to make it through that hardship. That is probably more than a lot of people can say.
I myself similarly, were diagnosed with an inoperable tumour back in 2004. To say it takes courage is one thing, but what I learnt most from my experience was more than any tattoo can every symbolise.
The best way to remind yourself of what you went through, whilst rewarding yourself for your courage. Is to live every day like its your last and make the most of every opportunity given. Not everybody is as lucky as us..
Hope all is well,
henda.
