medications and tattoos

so I was wondering if anyone know any info (or where I can find info on..) medications and tattoos. I've gotten many tattoos and I'm on my way to get yet another, but I'm wondering about this new drug I'm on that lowers my plaitlates... so my blood is a bit thinner and I tend to bleed a bit more... you guys think it's a bad idea?
ive talked to a m.d. over some of these blood thinner meds and so far none have had any bad side affects when either getting a tattoo or during the healing process except that it may take a little more time to heal. but seeing as i am not a medical practioner or a pharmacy tech,i would recomend consulting both your artist and dr over it just to be safe and have peace of mind.personally the meds to really be careful with are those pertaining to dermotology the care of skin and also some certain antibiotics can affect skin healing also.eat a well balanced meal 1 to 2 hours before getting tattoo work take a sucker to chew on during the tattoo and keep hydrated these will help with the whole tattoo aspect.best of luck hope it helps lets us know the results (don)
I used to suggest that a client refrain from blood thinners the day of the tattoo IF THEY COULD ONLY. They cause you to bleed a lot more and can be very difficult to see what the fuck you are doing and may cause the tattoo to heal light. The only other thing I know of is the reaction to skin numbing agents like Sustaine Gel which contain epinephrine(sp?) that restrict blood flow to the area. There is a warning label that indicates if you have heart problems or are on heart medication you should not use that product. For any specifics I guess you could call Face and Body Professional or your doctor.
