Miami Ink...The Truth

40 messages · last activity 3/12/2007

OK, I get tattooed at Miami Ink by an artist who is not on the show. He's a very talented artist, as are the rest of the guys who regularly work there. When I say regularly, I mean when the show is not being filmed. Ami, Nunez, and Yoji live in Miami. Garver and Kat (who is a stuck up ass bitch and is full of herself BTW) live in Cali. Garver's portraits blow her's out of the water, but they don't show his portraits on the show because he would make her look bad. She's talented, but she's pretty much only good at black and grey portraits and she's still not as good as others. They just have her on the show because fat dudes at home think she's hot and tune in(ratings). Anyway, I digress. Garver is the best artist on that show by far, next is Ami, then Kat, then Nunez. If you watch the show you'll see that Nunez usually does all the generic stuff: tribals, flowers, butterflies. He's probably not a bad artist because I've seen some really nice pieces that he's done, he's just lazy and is making enough money where he doesn't even want to tattoo anymore. TLC also tells the people getting tattooed on the show to have a story for their tat and why they want it because they have to fill an entire hour per episode. It does get repetitive and quite annoying. Everyone knows that sometimes you get a tat just because you like the way it looks. It doesn't always have to have a meaning behind it. In response to a post I saw earlier that said that Yoji couldn't draw or tattoo and that he should be fired and Ami should know better; I have this to say: Yoji is a musician, not a tattoo artist and Ami is not teaching him. He was being taught y others, but was not picking up much. He would like to tattoo, but I think it's pretty obvious that it doesn't come naturally to him and it would take a long time for him to learn. He has a band and would rather do that(he's a bad ass guitar player), but when TLC tells you, hey act like this and they're paying you for it...then you do it. There's nothing wrong with that. For all the people who complain and say the shop is not real, I assure you that it is. The shop has two names. The original name is 305 Ink, TLC probably wanted to call the show Miami Ink because most people who don't live in Miami wouldn't associate the 305, which is the area code here, to the shop being in Miami. It is real, but the people who work there on a regular basis are not on the t.v. show. The shop takes walk-ins only and the shop minimum is $200. This might sound like a ripoff to a lot of people, but think about this. This show is shown world wide and some people are fanatical in the way that they would come to Miami on vacation, just walk in there and ask to have a circle the size of a dime drawn on them just to say that they were tattooed at Miami Ink. The higher minimum scares away all of the people who go there just to say they got tattooed there. On the other hand, the shop makes ridiculous amounts of money from the people who actually pay the higher rates. There's nothing wrong with that either. It's up to the customer if they want to pay that much or not and let me tell you, they dish it out.
(he's a bad ass guitar player)He's a barr-chord king. He can make that guitar sing. lol WHO GIVES A FLYING FU+K!
no one cares.
thanks for the info bro...and why do all of you guys insist on being assholes..are you that bored...if your artists you should be drawing or networking for yourself....but IF you were artists you would already know that...
They take the time out to post "who cares" Obviously you care enough, or let me rephrase that, you are envious enough of them that you take the time out of your day to reply to a post that you supposedly don't care about. You two sirs, are fucking clownshoes. If you're an artist then I suggest you stop trolling on the internet and go draw something and make yourself better than you are....I'm sure if you have this much time to spend trolling this forum that you probably aren't that good...or you're such a dick that people don't wanna get tattooed by you so you have a lot of free time in the shop.
The last post was referring to Bob Fudgepacker and WOW by the way.
Small minded people don't upset me, I just fill sorry for you and all that you are missing out on.
Dude, what the fuck does that even mean? Are you high? Do you even know what you're saying or who you're talking to? I think this guy is having a converstaion with the voices in his head. You feel sorry for what I'm missing out on? What the hell are you talking about? You don't know me, what I do, what I don't do, or for that matter what I miss out on. Besides, your post has no bearing on what is being discussed. Get off the drugs dude.
first off, ami is no way better than kat. and if kat is full of herself, either you're just as good as being a pussy ass bitch online then you are in person. maybe she saw through that. and if she's so full of herself, then she should go into acting, because she's doing a hell of a job as being a good artist and a nice person. you sound like a disgruntled groupie. get a fucking life and stop being so jealous. the hate will eat you alive. or better yet, just go play in traffic. pussy ass bitch.
O,I Believe You.
all of the artists on that show are scratchers compared to those on this website. so you can see why i don't jump up and down trying to suck their dick on the internet. and in case you haven't noticed, there are more miami ink groupie threads on this website than there are other stupid threads like "translate this into arabic or sanskrit," "white tattoos," or "bam margera or some other famous assholes tattoo"
First off, this wasn't a groupie thread. This thread was to clear up all the ridiculous things that groupies thought about the show and/or artists on the show. I got tired of seeing ridiculous rumors. I'm not proclaiming these artists to be better than ones on this site and vice versa. You should read before you post instead of just typing mindless babble and trying to be hardasses. As for the guy who claims I'm jealous of KAt or that I am a Kat groupie...you are a fucking idiot. You, yourself are the one who seems to have a boner for her. Getting all upset because someone said something bad about her. Trust me, I don't even find her attractive...she's a huge bitch and when I say huge I mean she is a large woman. She used to be nice, before all the fame went to her head. Ami, in my honest opinion is way better than Kat because he is versatile. Before anyone starts talking crap that I'm saying Ami is beter than every other artist, I'll clear the air...I am not saying that. I am simply stating that he is better than Kat. Kat shits herself if anyone asks her to do anything other than a portrait. She sees colors and runs for the hills. The one or two tattoos that she's done in color on the show have been garbage. She only did them because TLC wanted her to look like she does more than only black and grey portrait work. BTW, she was fired from miami ink and the only reason she's still on the show is because she has a contract with TLC. Nobody there can stand her except for Garver because she works at his shop in Cali. Suck my balls.
Can't wait to see what Joe does down there.
I dont now how you can say that they are just scratchers compared to this site (or any site)? Not everyone in here is a Josh Wood or Nick Baxter. This site has amazing artists, of course, but where the hell does this "Oh, the tv guys cant tattoo shit, ITS IN HERE WHERE THE TRUE ART LIES! They are on tv. I have to say that they suck or I wont be considered I real tattoo fan" comes from?. Because thats the only reason I cant think of why people say these things is that they wouldnt be questioned by some "True OG tattoo people". Its same when people are ashamed to admit that they got into a band trough one of there hit records. Or the same thing when everyone is bashing and insulting people who act different, so then they have to join because they fear that if they dont, THEY will be looked as different. Someone like Garver is a WELL RESPECTED artist. http://chrisgarvertattoo.com/ If you dont know that, then you ARE the very thing you try not to be. And Ami isnt a bad artist by a mile. Would you say that something like this http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/miami-ink/slideshow/ami/ami2_slideshow_02.html is a bad tattoo? And dont look just in style, but the overall finish etc. How can you say that hes a scratcher? And I dont know if you people ewen now, but in Kats old website she had a lot of color pinups ec, and they wasnt bad in any shape or form. Garbage? Please. And I dont know her, so cant say if she is an asshole, but you have to realise that person who is only 24 and in this kinda spotlight, well, its not easy all the time. There is more than grey areas. I hope this doesnt happen to Joe as well...
these kinds of actions reminds me when I was little and we used to say "..and my dad is a cop" Why don't exchange thoughts without bashing each other. And for the last time Miami Ink is TV. and your parents are "Santa"
That's my point...when I posted I didn't bash anybody else's opinions and these dicks started letting out all their repressed anger on the internet.
"the truth" you have your head so fucking far up your ass you're shitting the coke that you sniff. you know so much about kat, you seem to really have researched your hate. you're fucking negative. shut the fuck up. why post a post that no one gives a fuck either way? oh i'm gonna do you all a favor and clear things up, but i don't really care. you're a fucking retard. one tattoo and you know all this drama? you sound like a phony. maybe a kook lurking from another shop. keep sweeping that floor. bitch.
Yeah Krystof, I don't think the show will change to any huge degree but I think we will see some amazing tattoos!
Just be glad you are able to sit there and talk shit on a computer and not being shot at in some foriegn country.I am,I think sometimes we forget what is important and definetely is not if Kat is good or not.In the end you might want to fight about who is the best guitar player.Really depends who you asked.
you're right. here's a post by none other than the huge tattoo artist bitch full of herself. sound like a bitch to you? Someone died in front of me today I'll try to make this short as possibale, but Im a little confused and definately traumatized... Tonight, I had a meeting with the producer of Miami Ink in Hollywood, at the Sky Bar. It was at 10pm, and i was a few minutes late. My good friend Pixie came along, and after the meeting, we walked out of the bar to get my car out of valet. Not more than 5 feet away from me a guy who could have been my age or perhaps a bit older, gets plowed by a car going at least 70 miles per hour. Watching his body fold in half in mid air... and collapse on the concrete, head first ... made a sound that i just cannot shake from my brain. In shock, we stared at the limp body on the street, not making a single move...completely lifeless. I hadnt eatin a single thing today, because i was so busy running errands all over town. If i had eaten something i would have vomitted for sure. why couldnt we have left the meeting 2 minutes earlier? why couldnt i have been on time? I couldnt look at him. i couldnt even look in his direction. Pixie was trying to comfort me telling me he still had a heartbeat, and i still dont know if she was just saying that to make me feel better or if it was true. Everyone was crowded around his body, and once the cops and ambulance came, my car had still not arrived. so pixie and i were forced to stand there, waiting. listening to everyone around us. the cops. his friends. i buried my face in my hands, and all i could think of was puking. Everyone kept asking, "did anyone see the car? what color was it?" and i for the life of me could not remember if it was black or silver. all i could see over and over was his head hitting the concrete, and the sound of that, which i cant compare to anything i ahve ever heard before, not even in movies, just would not leave my brain. i couldnt keep my eyes open in fear i might catch a glimpse of the body. but everytime i closed my eyes, all i could see is that man getting mauled by this car. and that sound. eventually when my car arrived i had no choice but to either look at the ground or look at the scene. and i caught a glimpse of his feet, just laying still, mangled. I dont know how i got home tonight. I tried to do anything to erase that image from my mind, and nothing was working. trying to drive straight i cranked Morissey as loud as possible in my car, but i cant get the sound of the crash out of my head. i physically was shaking my head. nothing is working. by the time i made it to cahuenga Blvd. i parked and got out and went to the tattoo shop. the minute i entered the shop, everyone said i looked like i had seen a ghost. i felt like i did. i couldnt stand or sit. nothing is comfortable. and i tried talking about something else, even things that made me mad, or angry. and nothing is replacing what i saw and felt tonight. Even though i always say that i dont fear death, watching it take over like it did tonight, weather it be by accident, or drunk driving, scarred me. i would never wish that upon anyone, not even to be a witness to it, like i was. i dont really know why im writing all of this, i guess, its one of those things that will maybe make me feel better right now. but so far nothing is working... i cant sleep becasue i dont wanna close my eyes. and i cannot make this nausea go away... please, everyone, keep this poor person that got hit today in your thoughts. and please, NEVER drink and drive... love, Kat (ps where i live there have been already 10 pedestrian deaths into the new year, and last week i almost saw a 10 year old get flattened. they ran into the road and if i had changed lanes earlier, it could have been me that hit the boy.) you're right dude. no more arguing with wastes.
Sounds to me like someone with a heart, obviously upset to see another human hurt....whats wrong with that?
I think that thetruthsuck was saying that she isnt a "fat bitch who just thinks of her self".
Agreed, sometimes seeing some shit like that makes you realize how stupid all this shit is. Kat, sorry about the harsh shit before, I thought you were just some fanboy talking shit so I was kind of enjoying adding fuel to the fire. Truth is, I think you're very talented, but it has been going around that you're not that nice girl who started out doing badass tats when she was a teenager anymore. It's understandable, especially in the tattoo world (not to mention the entertainment industry), to become a little rough around the edges. So, really I guess what I was trying to say was to watch how you treat the people around you because the way we treat people always comes back to us. I'm no one to tell you what to do, just take it as some personal advice from someone who knows how shit works in the tattoo world and the regular world period. What I heard about you wasn't said in a bad way...I just heard you weren't as nice as you used to be since all the fame came around. We're all people just the same...proven by what you saw and the effect it had on you. It makes us see that of all the things we think are important, a lot of them really aren't essential to being a a happy, good, talented person at whatever we do. I should've known it was you when you got so pissed at my first post. I didn't think you personally would actually reply to me so I thought it was kind of funny when what I thought was some dude that was in love with you was defending you to the death, so I said some things maybe just to say them, and for that I apoligize. I do get tatted at Miami Ink, I wasn't making that up. What I heard came from a customer that was there when I was getting tatted...supposedly she had gotten tattooed by you at some convention some years back and said you were very sweet and then she says she ran into you one day on the beach and she was looking to get tatted by you and you totally brushed her off with a kind of "to cool" attitude. Whatever, maybe she was just talking shit cause she was a heffer and wants to be you. Personally, I think you're portraits are geat, I have seen some better some worse, but that's not a detriment to you. Someone out there is always better than we are, at whatever it is we do. I guess the reason I was voicing this is because before the heffer told me that shit about you I was thinking about getting some work from you, but what she told me totally threw me off of that path. I'm not an artist, I'm a collector, but I'm not the dumbass down the street with the 305 tattoo either...I have more sense than that. Maybe I should've had a little more sense to take what the heffer said at face value w/o meeting you yet. I love the art of tattooing and I love art period so I pick who tattoos me not just by their talent, but by the kind of person they are because they put that into their work. I have to deal with people on a daily basis that are a bunch of uneducated douchebags. They have a problem with my company or something of the sort, which is usually cause by their stupidity, and I have to be nice to them even if I'd rather throw them out a window. Why? Because even if they are dicks and they are wrong....they'll go talk shit to someone else about my company and I lose money. Yeah, I can choose to think well that's just one or two people, but that's how shit snowballs and then I end up making no money or just being unliked by everyone. If you're gonna take anything from what I've written, just remember that as stressed or busy as you may be try and be cool...because that one way one asshole portays you can be the way hundreds of people end up thinking about you. Like I said I'm no one to tell you what to do...I'm just writing what I know. Dude, in hindsight, I'm sorry about the trashing I was giving you because I just fell into that he said she said telephone game...and I was having fun arguing with what I thought was a fanboy. Put what you saw out of your mind cause it'll eat you up. I've seen it firsthand and it's not good to keep thinking about. Things happen like that everyday and we can't do anything about it, we just gotta live and learn from that. P.S. I'm not a pussy ass bitch.....I'm a Dick...maybe. When I said huge, I wasn't saying fat BTW. I meant you're a big chic, so don't take it to heart.
Ok wait a minute...are you saying that the replier was KAT?
anyone who tries to spread word by hearsay is a fucking total IDIOT. and you admitied it. You are an admitted idiot. now all you got to do is admit you have a problem and you're halfway there. i don't know why all the hearsay shit though, you said you went to the shop...which i don't believe. and no the post isn't Kat, it's something she wrote recently. which i say again, READ CAREFULLY. admitted idiot.
It's not hearsay ass....I regularly get tattooed at the shop and the person who told me was an ex-client of Kat's you dumb shit.. So, you are a fanboy after all.
You are truly a Kat fanboy...that's why you find all the shit she writes and defend her to the death even though what I said about her wasn't even that bad, just that she's a douche to the people around her. How old are you? I bet you're still a virgin and live with Mommy and Daddy so you spend all your free time researching Kat. You are shit.
haha. feel stupid you thought it really kat posting and it wasn't? not a fan boy. she's on tv so she's a target. where's your 305 ink tattoo? liar. you're a bitch who spreads shit like a high school girl gossiping. hearsay....you're just a fucking fly on the wall. more like a wannabe fly on the wall. you got owned, get over it. stop talking shit about people unless you get firsthand info, and don't make up lies next time.
What's your name and where are you you badass? I could care less if she's on t.v. or not if your a bitch your a bitch and that's it. If you're so tough tell me where I can find you buddy...you talk mad shit behind a fuckin screen. You are a fanboy bitch.
What do you mean?
hahaha, TheTruth you lost your credibility!! saying kat's a bitch and not so good an artist, and then when you (think) you reply to her, you're all sorry and saying you didn't mean it.. better change your screen name, if you haven't already.. you're the one that started with all the cussing, why? you have some personal problems and use this, or any, forum to vent your built up anger?? this is a site about the LOVE of tattoos and tattooing!! you also said this: ""I'm no one to tell you what to do, just take it as some personal advice from someone who knows how shit works in the tattoo world and the regular world period. "" what makes you knowing of 'how shit works in the tattoo world', because you have a couple tattoos?? or been to a convention?? get a life..
:( awwwwwwwww for someone who's name is THE TRUTH you're sure as hell a pro at question dodging.that's what i thought. where's the tattoo? who was the artist? and what bathroom wall did you read all the gossip on? join the boo hoo club. fool! LOL i think i made you look like the fool you are...next time think before you talk shit. and if you do, use another computer because I will harass you using that IP#. you know, just in case you use a different name, because your moniker...well it kinda blows. CIAO!
It annoys the heck out of me clicking on a thread and realizing that in the end gets derailed until it becomes drama. I'm here for some tattoo talk not soap opera. Let the trolls die with the thread and move on to share some serious tattoo related comments on new threads.
the real issue is the effect tatto reality shows are having on the industry and the way the people on the show are portraying tattooing to the general public it's sad when a convention is overflowing with underage kids just trying to get a look at or talk to or by somting from a tattooer because thier on tv while a buch of world class amazing tattooers are sitting around with little to do (check out the last skin and ink) and stop with the pathetic argument that some who has a problem with these shows are jealous some people actualy have respect for what they do and the people who came before them and realize how fortunate they are to be able to make a living doing what they love to do and don't want it to be ruined by comercialism like evrything that was good once before it was SOLD OUT and don't want the same assholes (mainstream media) that have been shitting on tattooing forever to get rich off thier hard work
oh and about the typo's i don't live on a computer so before you critcize my typing and spelling look at the message i had some thoughts and got them out as fast as i could using a keyboard which i rarely use. i work at a shop and can't stand hearing anouther customer rave about somthing they probably hated two years ago weather it's punk rock or tattooing why does everyone destroy the things i love? and the reason i wrote this disclaimer is i saw the pathetic replies some of you had to each others comments foccusing on the least important aspects of what was written
[email removed] I know what your saying, but it doesnt make all that sence. Because if the people who at conventions surround the artists that are on tv, well, did they surround the other artists when the tv people wasnt around? My point is, people who KNOW whos good in the tattoo world, will be at the artist who the others doesnt. Its not like all the people who respected someone like Tyrrel, suddenly dont care about him and just be at "Tv tattoo peoples booths". They havent lost any clients in my eyes, theres just more clients at other people. The ones who know whos good, will continue to go at them. People who are nwe in tattoo world, will go maybe more to the tv people, but thats just it, THERE NEW. If there booths are empty, well, its not because of tv, its just a slow day. TV doesnt convert people, it just brings more people in.
You boys surfing out in Nebraska?
what is miami ink?
Wow. Okay so not to reply to the drama but the original sort of "topic"... I DID get a tattoo at "Miami Ink" actually 305 Tattoo. I got it by Luke and it rocks. I was not there when they were taping and did meet Yoji and Ami. I do think that it's a shame that there are so many other good tattoo artists that work there that don't get any spotlight, but hey...whatever! If you want a great tattoo and want to check out where Miami Ink is filmed then go see Luke. Actually, I honestly don't know if he's still there, dammit. I'm sure someone here does though.
I got my first tattoo from Miami Ink last May from Dan (the B-Team) and i'm very happy with it! It was fun meeting Ami and Yoji and Kat is an awesome artist and a very nice person...leave her alone!
