Miami Ink website

Does Miami Ink have a non-TLC website??? I am begining to think that they are not a real shop, but a TV show alone. I am heading down to Miami in a few weeks and would be interested in see the shop or even getting a tattoo..if they took walk-ins. I am sure they don't. But anyhow I would be interested in find out some info on them...
Since TLC and The Miami Ink shop are incoporated you won't find a stand alone website for the shop. If you are wanting to find something on the artists then you are going to have to find their personal webpages....which i believe they all have.
I went down to South Beach about a month ago and while there visited "Miami Ink".....actually 305 INK. They do take walk ins but you more than likley wont see any of the "stars", you will find some other artists working there ,unless they are filming . I took a pee in the bathroom ....you will be suprised how small that shop is ..they make it look big on t.v.
Anybody know who the in house artist are???
Anybody know who the in house artist are???
I believe it includes, Ami, Darren, Chris N, and Yogi..... Chris G and Kat both put their hours in California when they are not filming.... I believe someone said that there were some other artists there but I don't think any names were listed.
Yeah there are a bunch of artists that are the "regulars" there. I called today and they ran down a bunch of names. Never heard of the guys, but they seem to only take walk ins. Darren and Yoshi are the only ones who do after hours stuff when the show is not going on and they are walkins too.
Check out Litos or the folks at forbidden images. The artists there are awesome, TV blows everything way out of proportion.
Of all the "stars"of the show it is my understanding that Darren Brass and Yoji(sp?) are the only ones who tattoo regularly at the studio which incidentally is not even named "Miami Ink"
Yeah thats my understanding too. I think Darren's work is to new school for me and as for Yoji I have not really seen anything he has done. Think I will only be leaving with a T-shirt...oh well.
I'm a little skeptical about the work that Yoji probably does. I could be comepletely wrong here but if i remember correctly, Yoji had hell trying to draw a butterfly. Tattooing is really just another medium that artists work in, but this affects more lives...permanently. Basically its that arguement about whether people who cannot draw should really be tattooing. I'm surprised Ami James and Chris Garver didnt see that...
Just a rumor albeit an interesting rumor....Word has it that the "apprentice" Yoji (sp) has been tattoing for a couple of years now and is not really an apprentice at all!...Ya don't think those TV people would fib to us now do ya!!!....LOL!!!
I have read that he has been tattooing for a while.
YEAH MAN...THEY DO HAVE A REAL SHOP....JUST WENT TO MIAMI 2 WEEKS AGO....TOOK A PIC OF THE SIGHT OUTSIDE ADN PIC OF INSIDE THE SHOP....ITS WEIRD THPOUG....THEY HAVE CURTAINS THAT I SEEN IN THE BACK OF THE SHOP....THATS WHERE THEY DO ALL THE FILMING!!! ITS LIKE BEHIND THE CURTAINS...IS LIKE THAT SAME EXACT SET-UP U SEE ON TV....ITS REALLLY WEIRD...B/C WHEN U WALK IN THE SHOP ITS LIKE THIS 50FT BY 50FT ROOM....THEY BACK ROOM IS WHERE THEY DO THE TATS!!!! IM INKED UP MYSELF...GOOD ARTIST IN RHODE ISLAND..SMALLEST STATE IN THE US...LOL..WHEN I WENT IN THERE THERE WERE 4 GUYS IN THE THE SHOP...NONE OF THE GUYS THAT U SEE ON TV!!!!! PLUS EVERY ARTIST U SEE ON MIAMI INK HAVE THERE OWN SHOP!!!! SOMEWHERE IN US...THEY DO THAT FOR PUBLICITY AND $$$$$$$....BUT THEY WERE SUCCESSFULL AT IT!!! CARL
I remember looking for Yoji's gallery online cause i was curious as tpo his progress.Couldnt find anything.
Yes!!!!!!!!!! Miami ink is a real tattoo shop!!!! I was just in South Beach last week. They only take walk ins not appoint. All as you have to do is show up at the store before 12 noon stand in line (if your not there at noon good luck) and you will get a tattoo from one of the boys. When I was there between Dec. 26-30 I was tattooed by James Hamilton. His work is great, It is art. Not a tattoo art. Everyone I show there mouth drops its that good! All is you have to do is go to Washington Ave. and they will take care of the rest!!
Hey, I was wondering if any of you guys knew if the guys from Miami Ink have ever done any tattoo's with Kanthima, She is an awesome tattooist and is really popular in Thailand and around the area. I thought I saw one of her designes on the TLC website and thought they could have done some work with her or just taken the design. Thnaks for your help.
You can tell how serious a tattoo studio is about tattooing if they specifically DONT make appointments... Walk in only... pfffft. I guess theres a sucker born every minute.
I live in Miami and have been getting tatooed by James Hamilton for years. He used to work at Tattoo's by Lou which is actually right down the street from Miami Ink. He apprenticed under Ami when he started. Anyway, it is a real shop and they do great work. The guys from the show are the ones that take appointments and TLC is who handles taking those appointments from their website. The "regulars" as you guys call them are actually great tattoo artists and don't want to be on t.v. because they are tattoo artists not movie stars.
Was in town for the Miami Fair , looked up details on web site and eventually found the store. Yes it looks a totally different place and I had to look twice. None of the people off the TV show there which given had travelled 5000 bloody miles to get tatoo done was a real let down. Further more I called first to the store to explain I had a tatoo I wanted covering and I was a real baby when it came to needles .............the response I got yeah we do walks ins only !! almost like I never spoke.......................................................... shame as the girl i spoke with put me right off. If any of you know the guys at Miami Ink pass on my e.mail ................
the shop really does exist, i was just there twice this week, and they only do walk-ins, no appointments.
oh yeah, and Ami and Yoji tattoo there when there not filming as well, i havent seen Nunez or Darren though.
I was in Miami in January while there I visited Miami Ink at 1344 Washington Ave, the store front has Miami Ink and Ami, Chris, Darren, and Chris's name when I was there they were shooting the new season the day I stopped by Garver was filming Yogi was just leaving so I caught up with him down the street he told me while they are shooting they only Tattoo the public Fri, Sat & Sun opening at 12 PM and walk ins only I did return and had my art done by James when I left my care card as well as my credit card reciept said 305 Ink James if you read this forum the twins loved the M&M's
Are you guys for real? I live in Miami. Miami Ink is called, "MIAMI INK" and is located on Washington, a couple blocks down from the club Mansion in south beach. Yes the artists are really there, and no it's not a made up shop. They only film during certain seasons/hours, and most of the time they are open without filming.
yes i found the shop....eventually after sleuthing down its real name. What a rort!!!...i travel half way around the globe on my dream world trip and Miami Ink was gonna be one of my highlights to get tattoed..only to find a dingy shop with none of the show's people....guess i should of realised what i see on yanks cable TV is all just show

The show's people are not there on a regular basis, only while the show is being shot. All tattoos on the show are prescheduled appointments even though they make it seem as if people just walk in. It's kind of obvious when you watch the show anyway, but w/e. I think if I were going to travel around the world to go do something I'd research it a little more don't you think? I don't know what you mean about dingy either...it's a clean shop. Small, but clean, I'm sorry that you were expecting a palace to get tattooed at. A lot of great shops are tiny shops anyway. Just out of curiosity...did you have your whole background story to the tattoo you wanted all planned out or did you have an internet printout of someone else's tattoo that you wanted to get? LOL I get tatted there and they're cool peoples, but I hate how the show makes people think that you can just stroll on in and get tatted by Garver or anyone else on the show. I also hate the ridiculous sob story for every tat. It makes people who know nothing of tattoos, but want one, think that you have to have some story for your tat with some deep meaning. Sometimes it's important so the artist will put some feeling into what he draws up for you, but when someone is like "oh, this tattoo of a pinup girl is to symbolize my dog bobo's death" it just gets stupid.
God. Are you all serious? I work REAL close to "Miami Ink". The shop is real, there is no "hidden" back room, and the guys from the show are around, although not often, but they ARE around. Shit, they live here. The artists that work there when TLC is not taping are good guys, and good artists. If you want to wonder why they get a bit rude at times, or snippy on the phone...think for a sec how you would act if every day there were 250 people asking you to "get them in", or taking pictures of you, or stealing your porfolio. Not to mention the line for the bathroom. I am sure that would start to get on my nerves too. The other tattoo shops in the area are filled with talented atists too. Check out Mosh Pitt, Salvation, and Tattoos by Lou. All great shops with alot to offer. 305 Tattoo is there. But it's hardly your only choice.
I agree with you. I see that shit all the time...the non-regular customers get annoying with the stupid fan questions and the pictures.
Yes the Place is REAL. My Wife and I were there last night and had matching tatoos done. All the Artist who work there are Professional. They did a great Job with our original Design. They are short on the phone but that is because they are hounded constantly by wanabees... They are open Fidays 9PM - 12PM, Saturdays/Sundays 12ish -12. They do only take walkins and the line is out the door before they open. I saw so many people come walking in saying yeah I want a Tattoo thinking they are gonna pick it for you. Be prepared in advance and dont waste their time and they will treat you very well. The Name of the shop is 305 Ink doing business as "Miami Ink" . I checked the business license on the wall and that is what it said.
Yeah i had a portrait i wanted done, but with no mushy story behind it and definately no internet printout! I am sorry if by me saying 'dingy' you thought i meant unclean..guess we use that word in a different sense here in Oz...eg small. I tried sluething the so called Miami Ink website down and could find nothing on that nor 305 Ink before we set off. But wow! we just loved Miami

I had my tats done there last week. The 'famous' guys were around and wandered in and out but the only one I saw doing any tats was Darren. I was ink'd by a guy called Morgan and he did a fantastic job. He said he'd worrked for Miami '305' Ink for about 30 months. The shop is exactly as it appears on TV, but quite a bit smaller! The guys there were amiable, polite and efficient. All in all a great experience. BTW I travelled 4,000 miles from the UK to vacation in Florida and just HAD to visit Miami to get a tat. I tried to find as much info as I could about the shop but could only get answerphone messages and the TLC website. So I went with several different designs to cover all the bases as to how much time they/I would have available. During the week they don't do custom designs, not enough time. They only open 7pm 'til Midnight. At weekends you can get a custom done as they are open 12 'til 12.
not enough time for custom tattoos? PUKE. If people are gonna travel around the world, head to the Hell City tattoo festival... Some of the TV people are usually there, with like 40-60+ other bad ass artists...
All this is very interesting. As the old saying goes..."Seeing is believing." I will get a first hand opinion of the place. I will be in Miami this summer. The result of my trip is TBA.

I just got back from south beach and got my first tattoo done at Miami Ink and although I didnt see any of the stars. Morgan did my tattoo and he did a more than awesome job. They were totally cool guys and I recommend anyone thats going there to get one done by him..
If you want to get tattooed in Miami just look around, there are so many great artists down here. I myself get all my work done at Tattoos by lou, most of the top artist in Miami got started there.
This is true.
You all talk about calling, I was wondering where I could get their number from. Also if anyone knows where i can check out some prices that would be great.
If you call you're going to get an answering machine...they don't pick up the phone. Shop minimun is $200. What size were you looking for and what exactly do you want?
If your going to florida for a tattoo, check out the florida tattoo gallery for examples of the custom tattoos coming out of the area from resident and traveling artists... There are a lot of awesome artists working in florida that dont happen to be on TV...
I wanted to get a tattoo from Miami Ink and when I went there they didn't have time to some custom work for me b/c the line was long so I went to this shop in Kissimmee Florida Pain & Pleasure Tattoo and the owner not only did this amazing portrait for me he also did a custom work for my boyfriend and my mother and the I have few work on me and by far his work tops all the other work I had done I wanted a portrait by Kat but she is not the only one and Chino spoke very highly of the people of Miami Ink he didn't trash talked them itshows that not only he is a proffesional he respects other artists style he told me that maybe I can get one done by Kat if I go again to Miami but I guess I stay with him he is nice. And also are his staff. I know Miami ink is a real shop but they are very busy do your homework and check your local artists and support them also.I will when I get back to the UK.
i was just there 2 months ago. they ONLY take walk ins, they dont price anything, and you will pay out the @$$ for something you could have gotten done for a third the price. what you're paying for is the artist's imagination and their skills. you are paying to reassure that you will have a memorable piece that will DEFINITELY look good. check out my myspace to see it. as for the people on the show, they are definitely there. i got mine done with one of the guys on the show. if you want to catch someone specific, you can call and ask and they will tell you what time they are comin in. The shop name is "305 Ink" hope that helps

I was in South Beach last weekend with my wife and walked to the shop on Washington from my hotel on Sunset. Walked into the shop around 6:30 PM (they just finished filming their 3rd season so they're open from 12-12 every day), told Guy (the front desk fella and yes, his name is Guy) what I wanted and was getting a tat from Morgan by 7PM (they don't take appointments). He is from Cali, has been been inking people for the past 14 years, and has been with 305 Ink "Miami Ink" for over 3 years. He did a black and grey Koi for me and he did an awesome piece. My wife (not a big fan of tats) was very impressed with the work he did and he was very nice to her. You will pay more for work there b/c it's in South Beach where EVERYTHING costs more ($8 beer) and b/c of the fact that it is on TV. All in all, I'm happy that I got a tattoo by Morgan.
I am planning a trip to miami with my 'new' family, we have 4 children between us but my partner is ok with the tattos I have & I want a coverover of a multi coloured goldfish I had done at 19 to celebrate my daughters birth and adoption. I love Ami's work and would love him to free hand a new piece as I feel I was too young and the tatooist at the time didn't understand the importance of the work he was doing
Then get ahold of the tv people who run Miami Ink and apply to get tattooed By Ami the Asshole on an episode of the farce, Uh I mean show! Then pay an outrageous price for a tattoo you could pay less than half for at any shop in the area and get much better work. Don't you read the other posts on here? Do your homework and check out other artists. If you have any brains at all you will see that Amis work is only mediocre, WAYYYYY overpriced and you have to put up with that chumps abuse.Plus they use YOU on the show WITHOUT PAYING YOU FOR IT ( Miami Ink Productions is right now being sued by SAG ( screen actors guild) for not paying the people on the show who are considered actors since they follow a script written by the shows writers.) So if ya want overpriced midlevel work and want to donate your time to a tv production company that makes MILLIONS of dollars then go for it!!!!!
WOW...what a hater. Don't be mad at Ami dude. Yea, the show is cheesy, but I"m sure because of that show a lot of people who liked tattoos, but were afraid to get one have come into your shop and gotten tattooed. Even if most of the people who watch that show are retards and they believe everything they see, it has helped pick up business. No one can deny that. I think the show is ridiculous and TLC could work a little harder to make it more believeable. Like I've said many times before, there doesn't always have to be some DEEP meaning behind every tattoo you get and I feel that the show sends that message out. It causes people who know nothing of tattoos to make up some story as to why they want to get it. True, researh your artist and the work you want to get to make sure you want it, but chill with the lame stories behind it all. Anyway, I digress, Ami is a very good artist, and you come off like a straight up hater calling his work mediocre. You've obviously not looked at his portfolio. He' heavy handed, but he's good. Personally I get tattooed by James Hamilton and I suggest anyone going to Miami ink to ask for him. If you don't want to pay the money at Miami Ink, then go to tattoos by Lou down the street. Ask for Brady...he's an awesome artist as well. BTW, every person who walks into Miami INk or gets casted to be on the show is told how much it's going to be. No one is forcing them to pay for it. Again, the reason the pricing is so high at the shop is for two reasons: 1. The shop minimun is $200 so that not every idiot that watches the show and comes to Miami on vacation walks in and gets a tat the size of a dime, so that they can go back home and say they got tatted at Miami Ink. It's in place to keep thos people away. 2. Because if people are willing to pay that much, then why not keep charging that much. I'm sure you artists out there wouldn't mind going home with 3 or 4 grand in your pocket every night w/o working as hard as you used to to get that much. It's an artform, but if people can profit off of it, they will. As long as there are people out there who will pay for it. That's a FACT.
Nope not a hater at all , just trying to let this poster who obviously does not know a lot about the biz a few truths about Miami Ink. Yes the show might have gotten every shop a round a few tattoos however on the other side of that sword it also has encouraged a huge wave of idiots to get some cheap crap equipment on ebay to start scarring people up...and they do...every damn day...we have to fight the backlash. I've said it before...I'm not mad at anyone for being sucessful...But I have no problem in informing people that they can get much better work say at Lous shop down the street at a much more reasonable price. I've seen James work and I think he is balls up better than anyone on the show.I'm sure ya got some great art from him and I'd love to see it man! And charging a $200 minimum just because they can is ludicrous at best. That old excuse of keeping the undesireables out just don't play for me and a lot of others. Integrity should not allow price gouging. Period.
I agree with you on the bunch of idiots buying kits and trying to tattoo thing. I was actually going to write that on the previous post, but I completely spaced because I was on my break and trying to finish before I went back to work. Anyway, all my work is by james I'll take some pics and e-mail em to ya. Let me know what ya think. I get what you meant in your post dude, my bad about the hater comment.
Cool man I will be waiting ...I have been a fan of Jame for a while.
Yeah dudes 305 Ink is pretty cool, And when I went I didn't see any of the guys there, but I met Ami in Miami before. He gave me his card. Those guys do some unreal tattoos they are pros with it, When I get my tats I'm probably going to try to find Kat Von D.
it is a real shop, my friend got a tattoo there, and you can just walk in.
Yes they are real and depending on availability they take walks-in, I"ve been there a couple of times myself.
Yes, it's a real spot. I was there last week for work and managed to sneak there on Wednesday to get a tattoo. Although people from my conference called to see how long it will take to get in, they are told that it's a long wait list. But, they are referring to the T.V. show. You have to submit a tape of your story and they select those to audition. If you want to get tatted by the artist at Miami Ink, aka 305 Ink, you just show up and wait in line. It is pretty hard to get in though, and you pay an arm and a leg..but it's definitely worth it because it's being done by well known artists. You can go around the corner to Lucky Tattoo or the other many tattoo shops to pay less, but you may have to have it touched up alot in the near future. It's open from 12 - 12 and basically, you have to be there at the right time. I was there around 7pm and there were people in front of me looking through the books. I asked "Guy" how long it would be before I could get one, he said "awhile". But, since I pretty confident about what I wanted and didn't hang around like I wasn't serious, I showed him what I wanted and he smiled and assigned the artist "Dan" for me. Dan sketched it up in 20 minutes and before I knew it, he was poking my back! I got a pretty big colorful tattoo in 2 hours. Most places would have taken at least 4 hours to complete it. But Miami Ink (305 Ink) are so good that it doesn't take them that long at all....anyway, good luck to the rest of you!
The artists at Luckys and at tattoos by Lou are every bit as skilled as the artists that work at 305 ink, but much much cheaper, just because a shop is famous ( only because of the Miami Ink show not for their tattoos!) does NOT mean they are any better than any of the shops there that have been in business far longer than 305 Ink. Not saying that the people at 305 do bad work, on the comtrary they do very good work, but NOT good enough to justify their ridiculous prices. I assure you that if #05 Ink did NOT have the fame of the Miami Ink show their prices would be comensurate with the other shops in the area!
Yeah, tim is 100% correct... Because of the TV show and a culture of sheepeople the TV studios can command extremely high rates for work that doesnt deserve it. Well, I guess it deserves it cause people pay it... To their credit, Hart and Hunginton have been hiring really some really talented artists to work their studios in Vegas and Flordia. The prices are still high I bet for the location and profile, but in Vegas H&H you could get a walk-in tattoo from Jime Litwalk for christs sake... the show may have sucked ass, but if you can keep Jime Litwalk happy and his work coming out of your studio then theres a bright future... In any event, in Miami check out the other studios mentioned. If people want to take a real tattoo vacation, go to Hell City Tattoo Festival and sample some of the very best tattoo has to offer!
If you are in Miami and want some damn fine ink at REASONABLE rates and don't wanna be screwed just because a shop got their name on TV then hook up with Fallen King Ink. You can see his work and contact him at www.tattooconnect.com
To set a few things straight with everyone...I recieved a tat from miami ink...yesterday....and yes it is called 305 ink...which 305 is the area code for miami there for you get miami ink...As for garver he is only tattooing on the show due to his back....Kat has a show coming on in august called la ink...filmed in la...Darren tattoo's there chris n....ami all tattoo at miami ink yoji is still apprenticing so he doesn't tattoo much....he sat there and watched them do my tat....for two and a half hours...well hope this info can help....I did get a tat from just a walk in....but I had a complicated tattoo...which they all were fighting for...but if you go in there wanting a ladybug chances are your get one of the regulars...
And how much did you pay? Can we see a pic of the tattoo?
Who did your tattoo?
By the way , the myth about Yoji being an apprentice was busted out a long time ago. He has been tattooing for a few years now apparently at a shop in New York.
So 305 ink is open from 12-12 but what would be the best time to go? do the looong lines continue all day??

WHAT A FUN EXPERIENCE!!! Went to 305 Ink/Miami Ink 2 weeks ago and got a great tattoo from Morgan. Went on a Sunday, got there around 4pm, and put my name in for a two hour wait. Stopped by the little Italian restaurant, just down the way, for a bite to eat while we waited. Nervous, as this was my first tattoo. When I went back around 6pm, that was when the guy who I gave my name to talked to me about size of the tattoo. Gave me the price. Wow! I was suprised! I figured that what I was getting would definately qualify as a $200 minimum. Uh no. A small chineese symbol, maybe 2 by 2 inches was $350! (Just something to keep in mind.) But I was SOLD on getting it there! Morgan was so freakin cool! It was quick, relatively painless...actually really enjoyed the whole experience! Tattoo turned out GREAT! Did some color shadowing to personalize, and it looks fantastic. I highly recomend this shop - very clean. Fun to be around all the "fans" and the whole scene. Yes, it is WAY smaller then you think it will be. Yes about 3 times the price of your typical local shop. But I would go back FOR SURE. Great experience, awesomely cool artist, and a great looking tattoo to boot!
IF YOU PAID 350 FOR A KANJI;KILL YOURSELF!Obviously you did'nt do any research on this site.
There is a sucker born every minute they say...
I've said it before man. The people are willing to pay it so they will keep charging it.
I personally dont see what the big deal is about Miami Ink.The artists on the show are decent artists and Im sure the ones that are not on the show are decent.I do know that the prices are so overly inflated Im surprised anyone goes there. There are other shops in the south florida area that are as equally good if not better. The tattoo industry is being exploited by money hungry networks and has half the US thinking its cool to go to a shop and pay 250 an hour or more just cause its on tv.....so what who cares....Come to Big Brain 2 in Pompano and get something way more awesome and pay what its worth....not less not more.....
i was getting a tattoo at another place in florida and i mentioned something about Miami Ink and they said they arent a really tattoo shop, they are night club owners and former tattoo artists. they are good at what they do, but they show up for tapings and that is about it.
I second that, Big Brain 2 is a bad ass studio filled with great custom tattoo artists. Randy, you should get on TattooNOW as an artist member, I bet you would pick up some good clients... How far are you from Maimi? Again, folks, if you are thinking of traveling to get a tattoo, go to the Hell Ctiy Tattoo Festival, which truely hosts dozens of the worlds finest custom tattoo artists... Way way better than Maimi Ink any day of the week, and, er, you can probably meet some of the Maimi Ink people there too if you must.
Yea me and my mom were talking about doing that same thing for my 18th birthday thingy. We didnt think they took walk-ins either but was curios of how to get a tattoo from them.
OK OK so i got a tattoo at 305 INK. It was the most fun i had getting a tattoo. LUKE, who did my tat! was the best person, He was so professional and my tatto was so painless. I got there the night before but that had had a "death" so i returned saturday bright and early. U have to be there by 12 p.m. I camew/ my own idea, "Invictus" as a crown over a pheonix. It had been designed by a friend. I wanted it done "at this place". So i felw down for the experience..was it expensive "Hell FU&^%$* yeah!" $850 for the whole thing. But then i spend $200 on jeans and over $1500 for "purses". I knew what i was going to pay when i got there. You get what u pay for. When people see my tattoo they are amazed by the clarity, fineness of the lines and brightness of the color. I LOVE every inch of it and it overshadows my little $5 tattoo of my son;s name that was tiny tiny but took over 30 minutes for me to calm down and get. Luke worked on me for 1.5 hours and i was comfortable the whole time. I LOVE the Show I LOVE the guys who work there. even the cranky one that does appointments (can;t remember his name). Thier work is fabulous and they are true artists. If u pay money for ur things, this is place is worth it!
Did you just say you paid $850.00 for an hour and a half?Did you really? Can I tattoo you?
Oh my goodness, you people are getting bamboozled. Here's the thing, spending money , in many cases A LOT of money on a tattoo is fine, if it's a QUALITY tattoo by and AMAZING artist. I've seen full day tattoos come out of our shop from amazing artists like Nikko, MeDeVries, Mike Demasi, Dee Seruga, etc, that were in the price range or less then $850. You paid $850 to be able to say you got tattooed at a shop that is featured in a TV show. I don't care who or where you are, $850 for an hour and a half is ridiculous. Its really shameless that these artists will actually charge people that much. It's disappointing to me how much that shop is taking advantage of the public. But oMg everyone wants to be wicked cool and say they totally got tattooed at Miami Ink! Do some research people and next time you decide to drop that much money on a tattoo, make sure it's worth it.
Excuse my typo. I meant Mike DeVries, I'm not sure how MeDeVries came out...
The only thing Iwould add to Mary's responce is, and Im sure Ive said it, but if your going to travel and spend $850 on a tattoo, go to Hell City tattoo fest in Phoenix Az later this month. Way better tattoo vacation. way way better.
I live 30-45 minutes away from Miami. Today I was just in Miami Ink, Yoji was tatooing someone, Ami was in the back and barely came to the front. I was going to get 2 names done, but it was 400 dollars! Plus they asked for the names, the guy left and didnt come back for 25 minutes (left before he came back) so he could have forgot or something. There is no secret room! The "famous" artists are around.
Im sorry $850 for an hour and a half is RIDICULOUS. I get tattooed by Joe Capobianco (who did a guest spot on Miami Ink by the way) and Ive sat for a few hours and payed half that price and his work blows away everyones on that show. check him out at.. www,hopegallerytattoo.com
Hey all. I just got back from South Beach yesterday. I went to Miami Ink on Tuesday and got right in. I paid $400 for a large sun on my calf and it is the best tat I have gotten. While I was there, Ami, Chris Garver and Yoji were there. Yoji was actually tattooing right next to me. It was a great experience. If anyone wants some pics let me know. My email is [email removed]. I would be happy to send them to you. The guys were all down to earth and were happy to take pics for you and shake your hand or what not. A guy named Luke did my tat and he was great. I am glad I went.
If people pay it, they'll keep charging it. Don't act like saints as if Miami Ink is taking advantage of the public. If you could charge as much and get away with it you would. If they don't want to pay it they don't have to. Free will is key. True, most people get tatted there and pay out the ass for it, just to say they were tattooed there, but to each their own dude. If they pay the large amount of money for a small amount of work just because it's at Miami Ink, then that's their perogative. Get over it. This is directed at all the people taking stabs at Miami Ink for charging as much as they do and wishing that they could charge the same.
Abel- They are taking advantage of the public. Period. And yes I see you're point if people want to pay it, it's their own deal, I just think is obsurd. I work at a shop that has artists that are much more "famous" in the world of actual tattoo, not just TV BS, and they all charge what they find resonable and FAIR. I think it's a stretch to say we (or every artist) wishes they could charge that much. I have integrity regarding the industry and I would be ashamed to admit I worked at a shop that charged over $250 an hour for primarily mediocre work. So yea, hooray for them, they're making a killing by tattoo people that are foolish enough to fall for the hype, but amazingly enough some people actually tattoo for the art, not the money.
OK, I have read this complete message board. NOW for a MATURE response. I am a 51 yo woman. Married with children and grandchildren. My husband was going to Fisher Island in Miami to do some work, and of course I was going along. I have wanted a Tat for a couple years. I knew what I wanted and where I wanted it.This was to be my first..and only one I wanted. My husband said to get it done at Miami Ink, because he knew I was a fan of the show, and no one locally had one from there. We went on a Tuesday night about 10pm. Spoke to the young man at the front desk and he told us to come back the next afternoon about 1pm..wouldn't be very busy then. Went back Wed at 1...place was packed..so same young man said if we left a $200 deposit, he would give me an appointment for 8 pm that evening. We asked for an estimate for the work, and were told no more than $600. WHEW!! After driving back to the island I had second thoughts about the price...maybe I didn't want one after all. Husband said,"You should have told me b/4 I left him $200. He said you will get it, it's special to you and you want it. We went back that evening, had to wait a while after my appt time, got started about 9:00 actually. A great young man named JOSE did the tat....I LOVE IT...and it was worth every $$ I paid!! (and NO, it didn't cost me $600) I have had people actually want to touch it to make sure it was a Tatt and not just a sticker or temp Tatt. It is beautiful!! Thanks Jose for the Hummingbird w/ my grandsons names on the banner. You have made one grandma...VERY happy..:)
I have been casted to appear on the show. I am very excited. People are funny when it comes to these heated discussions on a forum :) Pretty entertaining to read when work is slow at the funeral home. My brother is a tattoo artist and is very happy for me being on the show. I can see by this forum that everybody has a different opinion about the shop. I just know a few things for sure.... - I am excited - My "sob" story behind my tattoo is completely real and I don't care what people think about me or how they judge me for it - I'm not only paying for the art, but the experience too. If I wanted a cheap (inexpensive) tattoo, I'd get it done by my brother for free :) - Making money is good. These artists found a way to do it successfully. - I'm gonna get an awesome tattoo!
Emmabalmer I bet I know where your brother got his practice skin. Gabe I saw earlier in this topic you posted "sheepeople", I believe the correct terminology is sheeple. lol
Both Miami Ink and L.A. Ink have their own websites and both are seeking people to get tats on air. You can link to them at www.vptvlifestyles.blogspot.com
Just got back from a great holiday around the US, travelled all the way from Australia to Miami to check out Miami Ink. Got there on a saturday night and just caught Chris Garver entering the shop, we had a bit of a talk,it was great to meet him, he is such a nice guy. got tattooed a couple of days later by Morgan, another great guy and a great tat. all the people in the shop we great, it was a fantastic experience. it was worth the trip from Australia to Miami Ink
850$ for 1 and a half hours....i think even world class tattoo artists like Filip Leu, Robert Hernandez, Shige etc charge less than that..
~ To All Of The Critics Out There ~ Are you one of those people that thinks of Ami James' work as mediocre? Well, you're not the only one! I have a fabulous idea! Let's form a club called "Ami James is Overrated". We'll hold the first meeting at my house, and here's how it will go down.... All attendees will sign-in and receive a membership button. Then everyone will form a line to file up the steps to my front door. I'll be standing there with my back toward you so that you can see the tattoo by Ami James between my shoulders. Once you see the design, you will then be able to voice your own opinion about his work. But I must warn you... you probably won't be able to say anything. You'll be speechless when you see the amazing work of art on my back. You will feel like an idiot for judging Ami James' work the way you did. As you are standing there, dumb with amazement, my husband will punch you in the face and I will turn around and kick you in the shin. And you'll deserve it for being such a judgemental fool. Only a retard would think Ami's work is mediocre! P.S. If any of you think that I seriously want you Ami James Haters showing up at my house, you're a bigger idiot than I thought. And for all of you Ami James fans: ROCK ON!
the shop does exist, and they do take walk ins, however the time is limited to a couple of hours at the end of taping. there is also a 200.00 minimum for tattoo work. visited during spring break 2007 and got in on the third night, and got an arm band that cost 400.00 bucks. OUCH!, guess you pay for the name...... but the work was great and so are the people. was a great experience and think you should visit if you get the chance.
they do take walk ins but found them to be very arrogant. asked them for them to do the new york yankees logo for me, just the logo , they said minimum $500 . any tattoo you get there has a base price for there service at $200+. they dont just want anyone because now they are someone. saw noone in there for 3 hours on this past monday from 9pm to at least 11:30 pm. have come back home to a great tattoo guy who has done others for me. oh by the way my yankee tattoo here in michigan only $150 and is super. i feel they have gone to the glory at 305 ink and left the people behind who really got them there, this is too bad.
Ha...cheapskate!
The cause of the "artists" not being there is because they only work there for the show. You need to do a casting for the show "Miami Ink", that's the only way you can get tattoed for these artists. 305 Ink is the name of the store when is used for regular people and there are another tatoo artists.
Hey, this is a shameless plug... If you have flown or are thinking of flying to Miami Ink for a tattoo vacation, you might want to consider flying to New England next October where 60+ of the worlds finest will be tattooing in one very nice resort in the hills of western mass during peak leaf season. rooms are only $109 a night, and the 2 and 3 bedroom condos are really really nice (some even have bunk beds!).

A great young man named JOSE did the tat.... Jose is my regular tattoo artist. :] He works up in Ft Lauderdale whenever he's not in Miami.
Hi, At this moment I'm watching the show here in Lisbon. I remember taking a look at Kat's site. Now I did a quick search and found :http://www.myspace.com/katvond Take care, José
I just got my first tattoo at the shop. It was an anniversary present from my wife. Mikey Slater did a fantastic job! The shop is awesome and so are the people there. Everyone there was great to my wife and myself. Went on a Saturday night to get the custom work done and Chris Garver was there. Scheduled the end of our vacation to stay in South Beach just to go get tattooed and let me say it was the highlight of my vacation. Steve from Philly. Mikey Slater rocks the tattoo world!
i was there today. the place looks so dirty o the inside. i did not see any one there that i know. just walking by and people take pictures like its some one famous. but hey that what we american like.
You know, it's funny, but a lot of serious issues on this forum are very quickly overlooked and may have only 1 or 2 responses, but questions on Miami Ink, Kat Von D, LA Ink get A LOT of responses. I, personally, could care any less about what these celebrities do, think, or how much money they make! How about answering some questions like "Pacemakers and Tattoos" or "My friend's shop was robbed" or other issues like this? Just like people worrying about Brittney Spears and her personal life, like I really need to know, other than other people in your own community, for example, talented kids who would love to learn the art of tattooing, or other issues they can get involved in which could help out another person. I could go on and on, but why waste my time elaborating on such a ridiculous subject?!
Hey man, both maimi ink and LAInk are both produced by TLC, You have to apply to go on the show and have a "story" there is a long waiting list and a $100 deposit. LAink has a site, Maimi dont. From info I've read Ami is really up himself and is furrious that Kat now has her own show.
hey well tv is all based upon politics and competition. so maybe they should just all suck it up and act like adults about it. Also if miami ink is called something different then wouldnt that be considered as false advertisment because at the end of the show they always say "if your in miami south beach look us up" something like that. how can you look them up if they have a different name. also ppl travel around the world to get tattooed from ami and darren and chris and chris G and yoji an how can you get tattooed from them if there not even at there studio. I am starting to think that its just all one big scam
Wow! I am planning a trip to Miami and want to get a tattoo in remberance of someone very special to me I have lost recently. Yes, it's a tat that's going to mean alot to me. I have one on my ankle already. I said I would never get another but I feel I need to get this one. Probably more then you all need to know but after reading all of the replies on this site I have to say I have gotten ALOT of information about the shop, who does the tattoos, times appt or no appt. PRICES!!! OMG! Here in Jersey I could probably get what I want for less than 200.00 for sure. It seemed fitting to go to Miami Ink to get the Tat since this person and I both liked the show. I planned to get it on the anniversary of their passing this May. I have heard other names and other shops mentioned in Miami that would probably do better work and cost less. Hey I'm all for saving a buck! and not paying more then it's worth. I with those prices you can only say your paying for the "experience". Anyone care to lead me in the direction of a great shop and artist in or close to Miami? My first tat I wanted them to draw what I wanted but the guy didn't draw so I wound up taking a larger tattoo close to what I wanted and they shrunk it. It's a great Tattoo and color but it's just not what I wanted. I should have walked away at the time and went somewhere else. THIS TIME I have what I want drawn out already and would love to have a GREAT artist re-draw it if need be and possibly add their own ideas or flair. You can email me at the address I list above or list it here on this site in a reply. Thanks for all the info! It's been a big help! Holly
Just got back from Miami, spent a very nice 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year. Planned before I left to get sons names in Chinese lettering from Miami Ink. Visited place 24th at 9pm but was closing up for 2 days. Told to return but expect a line. Place opens between 12 noon and 12 midnight. Arrived 1145hrs on 26th and was first in line. Waited 45 mins till Yoji and Hamilton turned up. By this time there was a lone line behind me. Opened shop and invited us in. Once everyone was in shop gave a small speech about the minimum price - $200. Then said you could photograph as much as you wanted. I was way down the shop and he asked if anyone wanted a tattoo and this guy right in front of him said yes and he started noting down his details. I'm standing thinking whats going on here. I then shouted that I was first in line and what was going on. Then everyone started arguing about who was next. Anyway I was taken first as everyone realised I had been at the head of the line and as I am 6'1 and 16 stones nobody wanted to argue. Was tattooed by Hamilton and he did a first class job. Paid $400 for tattoos on both arms and it was a buzz. Yes of course I could have went else where and paid less but I am a big fan of the show and will never be back in Miami so this was my one and only chance. I do not regret it for a minute and my sons this the tattoos are cool, so thats good enough for me.
I anm heading to Miami next week and have been there quite a bit the past 15 years. I was thinking of going to Miami 305 Ink whatever the name and going over a bad tattoo done at Tattoos by Lou. I had gotten it years ago and the artist who did it totally fucked up. I asked for a chinese symbol for "Perseverance". Did not see it in a book or anywhere else. So, one artist who was there said he had that on his body and they made a copy for me. Turns out, it meant "to protect" and there were two other symbols incorporated in it that mean not a dam thing. And the "to protect" tat was wrong. So, I want to go over it with a tattoo I picked out on tattoofinder. The ink is only black so I think that will help me go over it in black too. I learned a valuable lesson. As I have read, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. I didn't. I trusted the tattoo guys and that was a mistake. I am glad I read some comments here because I was gonna go to Miami Ink. But I am not spending a Min $200 for what I want and that would cost more. For someone to pay $850 is a moron. Then again, reading what else she spends money on, DUH. I won't be going to Miami Ink or Tattoo by Lou. What sucks is I have two bad tats from Lou's place and have to get them fixed. Both were back to back in timeframe and I did not know at the time anything was a mistake until afterward. Anyone out there know a better place in Miami to get inked?
it just goes to show, miami ink fans, type of guys who just love their kanji!
I recently called the shop. and apparently they do take walk ins. according to the receptionist there "its first come first serve, and from $200.00" im off to miami in may. good luck
yes they r there i had a tatt done there last yr yes theey do walk-ins to the real name of the shop is 305 inc
Got, so many people are hating everyone... their work isn't that bad, but personally, I don't know, I guess the people who want to go there, to get tattooed by the "famous people" are kind of living a dream in a way (please don't take this offensively). Don't get me wrong I'd love to get tattooed by them, but I also know somewhere in Holland (where I used to live) who does some amazing work, and probably cheaper too. www.tattoomania.nl just check the tattoos they've done, definately good, the guy has one loads of prizes and stuff so! good luck
http://application-miami-ink.com/ if you want to apply to get tattooed by the guys and go on the show!
Had a tat done there 07/08/08, Darren & James were there, they only do walk ins. Fantastic stuff & the atmosphere was unbelievable! Well worth the trip!

yeah..i cant seam to find the website either..............
Hey y'all for the useful tips and info. I've watched the program & thought of getting the tattoo done in Miami Ink. This means I almost wanted to fly from the end of globe to get tattooed. However after reviewing all your feedback from this forum, made me change my mine. I think some of you are right... over-priced and over-rated when you can get equally if not better tat artists elsewhere with price matching the tat of your choice. This actually helps me save a heck a lot for not flying all the way + save me from disappointment to find the 5 main men not there :( Thanx again for the honest f/back!!
So I actually visited this website to try and see if you can make an appointment...and i'm very disappointed to hear that you cannot do so:(...and that even if you do wait "in line" for one, you dont get to be tattooed by any of the guys...i personally would be honored if I could get a tattoo by Ami, i think hes great and it sucks that they don't offer themselves unless their on tv....thats a real disappointment to those who watch them and want their work on their body...for the record, i loooove Ami.
Tammy, Ami is a fine tattooer, but not nearly worth the hype that TV gives him. We are hosting a tattoo convention much closer that was many artists that blow ami out of the water...
how can I talk to someone from salon.I am from Romania and I want to give me some advice.please help me.My id [email removed] thanks.
Any tattoo studio is generally a "fun" place to hang out.. only difference is it's not on TV.. The show served it's purpose.. getting the public to accept tattooing and to take away the "scare" factor... doesn't mean they're the best just means they had a good idea any other studio could have had if they were okay with selling out.. kudos to the guys mentioning other studios in the same area.. at least all the kanjis go to 305 now!
i have read this whole site and im a little confused. my daughter was just in south beach yesterday and went to miami ink on washington ave. she said the store has the exact front you see on the tv show with ami and chris's names on the window, but it is no longer a tat shop. it is now a retail store that sells miami ink shirts and such.. the shop is 2 doors down and is called love hate. just like the bar. she went in and there were only 2 people inside getting tats. no line. so where does this 305 come into play?
Yes, this has really been helpful. After watching the show, the whole idea of getting a tattoo and including a visit to Miami Ink during vacation in the US, seemed quite possible. I should have realized earlier that they make it look much better on TV. I mean Ami probably is good at what he does (and jeez, hes cute), but lets get real, the TV/show thing played the biggest role, and since he is now a kind of celebrity, my mind was just blown away... Anyways, now it just seems stupid that at first I thought I would be like one of those clients they show on TV - like, hey ami, I want this tattoo... Silly me! Guess I'll be looking for a good artist back in my own continent. But the show is great.
I read some more posts here, and its actually insane. Where would the Miami ink be without the show? Just another little unfamous salon. But now so many people would fly across the globe to have a tattoo made there and what do we get?! I have to do a casting to get tattooed by the "famous guys"!!!+ 100$ deposit...this is just rediculous. Looks like it just doesnt come from the heart and its made only for the celebritycrazy people.... What a shame...
My husband and I are looking to go to Florida this summer ('09) and I want to get a tattoo done while I am out there. I already know what I want and I know I do not want to pay Miami Ink prices, I am no fool and will not pay ridiculous amounts of money for a tattoo I could have done in Amsterdam. But I have heard some names coming by over the years of artists in Florida that are really good at what they do and not charge the moon and the stars for it. I am looking for an artist who can do animal portraits to such an extent that the animal seems to be alive, it has to look EXACTLY like the original, not close, not allmost but exactly, I will not settle for anything less. So if anyone has some names for me, and preferably with pictures of tattoo's done by those artists then please do email them to me so I can make an educated choice about where to have my art done. Thanks, Desire
Come check out my shop, we are one block away from the Ol' Miami Ink. 1218 Washington Avenue. The name of the shop us Miami Tattoo Co. you can check some of our work at www.myspace.com/miamitattoo Take care Gaston.
Wow! chill people lol. Listen this is great advice. Im flying over to Orlando in May and was gonna travel down to miami to Never the Less Miami ink!! for a tat, i have no preconceptions about the place ill take it as it comes, as long as there is great tattoos coming out the door, ill be there. I love getting tattoos, i have one by Nancy Drew of Colorado when she was over in N.I, which is done using a blood line instead of a black outline, makes the tat look painted on. If anyone knows of a particular tattoo artist in miami that does this sort of work, id love his name and where he works
the official website is http://www.lovehatetattoos.com
They actually is a shop it is located on Washington Street in South Beach but you will rarely catch them there they do have other very talented artist working there that can help you

Hi @ all! My Name is Mike and i wanna list some facts for you all... 1) Miami Ink is the TLC TV Name, the Studio is called LOVE HATE Tattoo (owned by Chris Nunes and Ami James), LOVE HATE Company also has a bar in South Beach and a Chopper production. 2) They are NOT in the old TV Shop anymore, they moved everything to a larger shop about 30 seconds down the road 3) Ami James is there every once in a while (quite often) just to check how the shop is going, Darren Brass tattoos on weekends and Yoji is there alot watching the other artists (off show regulars that have been tattooing with Ami and the rest before the series already) tattoo and work on his skills. 4) Miami Ink is not in production anymore but Chris Nunez, Ami and Yoji are working on a NEW Show with the Travel Channelö called Worldwide Tribe, where they travel around the world to learn about tattoo history and culture. 5) The Shop itself is quite expensive and they do (on occasion) take appointments if for example ur flying in from abroad. 6) The artists there are really good and helped Miami Ink become a popular and reknowned studio BEFORE the TLC show. They are definetly not any less talented than Ami and Nunez! I know what im talking about, trust me. Im in Miami alot and im a fan of the show. I got tattooed there by Federico Ferroni, a good friend of Ami James, if u want add me on facebook where i have all the pics (ami and me, yoji and me, regular off show artists, studio...) take care people! PS, Im italian and managed to get tattooed there
i also heard that kat also charges $500 minimum for portraits and the price goes up depending on the size... i dont know about you but if i have $500-$700 for a portrait you better believe im goin to someone like bob tyrrell or nikko or someone else who in my opinion blows her away
their real website is www.lovehatetatoos.com and they do accept walk ins
I am finding it impossilbe to find miami ink's webite in order to place a booking. can any one help
yes, they do have a non-TLC site.. you have to search "Love Hate Tattoos - Miami" as this is the studios official name.. heres the site! http://www.lovehatetattoos.com/index.html
Hi what is actually the possibility of gettin 1 of the guys to tatto ya?
http://www.lovehatetattoos.com/ they do take walk-ins sometimes. e-mail them for questions.
Yeah they do have a website, its http://www.lovehatetattoos.com/ Thats the actual name of the studio. It took me a while to find it as well. I would love to go there one day, i watch the show on TV all the time and i love it!!!
Hey i was wondering the same thing so i did a search on google and i found their website www.lovehatetattoos.com, it is there actual one, nothing to do with TLC hope you enjoy current artist (according to the website) are: Ami James Chris Nunez Darren Brass Federico Ferroni Chris Garver James Hamilton Yoji Harada Tim Hendricks Janos Masz Morgwn Pennypacker Jose Santiago Luke Wessman
Like you I am travelling to Miami in April of this year and would like to have a tattoo done while I'm there. Did you get any response as to how to go about it?
in the last series i have seen an image of an dragon holding a ball behind the desk right of the door, is there any chance to get an image of that, i want that on my arm and torso since i have seen that the first time.
Miami Ink does exist, but none of the guys nor Kat work there. My brother was there. The cast flys in to shoot the show occasionally.
hi i was wondering the prices of the tattoos and what age do you have to be
yep it is real i have already been there and got a dolphin
yep it is real i have already been there and got a dolphin
yep it is real i have already been there and got a dolphin
Miami Ink is the name of the show that is no longer on the air. Miami Ink used to be the name of the shop, but when the group decided to stop the show TLC owned the rights to the name. The Miami Ink is now a gift shop. Their shop is actually called Love Hate tattoos
they are now called love, hate tattoo and their website is http://www.lovehatetattoos.com/
I ve almost read all the post on this page guys im coming to miami for labor day this year...can someone please point me in the right direction, for a fabulous artist i dont care if he been on TV or not im a red bone with a pretty plump buttom and i want a butterfly with mad details a wing on each butt cheek and the head coming up through the top...who do i go to...please send me an email im at wk and cant get on this website [email removed]...
I was in south beach and went into the shop which looked real cool but that was about it. I wanted them to draw me up my idea to see what the artists skill level was and he would not do it. They would have done it if i had a picture of the fish. So i said can you get it on line and then draw it how i wanted it and they said no. Now keep in mind none of the stars where their just some artists working. What kind of tattoo shop wont draw you something on the spot. I could see if he was booked with a long wait but he was not he was ready to give me a tattoo just didn't want to draw it up. Obviously not a real artist so I guess it is all just for TV. The shop 3 doors down banged the whole tat out from custom drawing to finished piece in 4 hours! Just thought it would be cool like yourself to get it there cause I was in Miami. Just my 2cents!
I wanted to go in october to the miami ink shop for my first tattoo I loved the work these guys make But now i read all this i think i will be going for nothing :-( Does anyone can advise me I would really love a tatto from Darren or Ami Anyhow if someone knows their site or e-mail Crazy Dutch
Took me about 10 sec google -> image -> miami tattoo store -> find picture of the store, read the name http://www.lovehatetattoos.com/ JFGI!
They are a real tatto studio I have been to south beach as this is where theyare located. They do have a actually offical website which is http://www.lovehatetattoos.com/ and http://www.chrisgarvertattoo.com/ for more info you can contact me on facebook.com/sweetassweets
