Copied this over from Needled.com: From needled.com "This is the kind of post I hate to write. My dear friend, tattoo artist Mon Henk, was on her motorcycle in Brooklyn two nights ago when a black SUV plowed into her and then fled the scene, leaving her for dead. Revived by EMS, she is now in a coma and her oxygen/blood level is decreasing. For me, Mon is the essence of joie de vivre -- she lives life fully, has a fabulous laugh and kick-ass attitude. Just look at her personal photos on her site. Her sense of humor and fabulous funny faces are my absolute favorite things about her. With her spirit, it is easy for me to believe she will come through this despite the gloomy prognosis. We need to find the person who did this to her. If you have any information on a black SUV that hit Mon on Saturday, April 7th on the corner of Kent and Flushing in Brooklyn, please contact Dan Henk at [email removed]. There will be a reward. So far we have over $3,500. If you'd like to make a donation, you can PayPal any amount to Dan's email address." Monica is a fun and vibrant human being. Gabe and I ask that you all send some thoughts of healing her way and please help out if you can. Thanks, Kim and Gabe Ripley
Dan all our thoughts are with you bro and we will say prayers for Mon too!! What a horrible thing to happen to a very nice person...TAz and Crew at Painted Angel
Damn, what a depressing post and what a fucking shame. Damn it, I sure hope 'this one' has a Happy ending. Thought and prayers, Doc
Our thoughts are with you, Dan and Mon.
MySpace bulletin from Dan sent 4/9 6:22 pm: Monica Henk is my exwife. After 5 years together, we were separated, but still the best of friends. She was struck by a black SUV on Saturday morning at about 7AM at the corner of Kent and Flushing. She was riding her motorcycle and on the way to class at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. I've been at the hospital the past 3 days straight, and her condition has steadily deteriorated. She is essentially brain dead and as part of the whole family we have decided to take her off life support. Any tips would help. We are offering a $4,000 reward. Further details and continual updates can be seen on my website danhenk.com Any donations towards the ever increasing reward fund should be directed to the [email removed] paypal account. Any tips should either be phoned in to me, at 917 554 1341, or to crimestoppers at (800) 577-TIPS
I am so sorry for you and can imagine your pain. Just last week my mom had to be taken to hospital. She is better but still scared me. So I know its much worse for you that are close to Monica now. I can say nothing more than just love your family, love them with all you got. And to anyone out there reading. If you havent called your love ones in a while, pick up the phone and call them. If I would be there I would hug you people as much as I could. Take care. With love from Finland
My thoughts and best wishes go out to the family. While we're all thinking about this tragic accident let's keep in mind that riding season is here, watch out for motorcycles and we'll watch for you.Give a bike some space, keep off our ass............
To Dan, Monica, and Monica's family. I know there are no words that can make you feel better in this time of grief. At the gallery in Connecticut, I was so inspired by Dan's painting of Mon that I had to have a print. Though she is gone from this plane, her life continues to touch even people she may not have known in person. When I heard this sad news, I found myself frantically searching for the print. In rememberance of our fallen contemporary, it will be carefully displayed in the studio. I hope Dan's image of Monica will continue to inspire others, as it did me. May justice find its way to whoever did this terrible thing. -Joe
Rest In Peace Sweetheart you will be missed in the BKLYN scene. Dominic-----
