So at some point in our lives we all see that one tattoo that sort of gets us hooked in and we know that we are going to be inked people instead of a blank canvass. Curious what did it for other people....
When I was 7 years old I was at a parade, and a scottish military band with bagpipes etc. comes down the street... huge guys, all had some kind of scottish military tattoo on their arm. Can't remember what it was, but I know it left an impression on me for the rest of my life. Man, those guys were the real deal. Soldiers with those tats. Always knew I wanted one from then on. Those soldiers just seemed beyond cool. Early role model.
The first one that ever actually got me sprung to em, so to speak was this gorgeous, slinky woman in a split leg blue dress that had a full on peacock all the way down the full side of her leg... Man, that was somethin to see!
So, what are the coolest, or most memorable tat's that you guys have seen? What was it about it that got ya all hooked?

The thing that got me into tattooing was when i when i was 5. I grew up in Okinawa Japan. I saw an old fisherman sitting in a boat off the shore of Kin Red pier with a full body suit at that moment i was like WOW i want to be like that...
Believe it or not what got me hooked into tattoos was when *sigh*...fuck... my ex-fiance' got a tattoo I designed in memory of her Mom. I knew it ment so much to her and it made me feel so good to be apart of that. That was when I started to truely understand how tattoos can have more than just an "on the surface" affect on people.
For me it was actually watching my dad do tattoos..........i remember bieng a little kid and looking at all the colorful tattoos all over his arms,..i allways was buggin him to get one ...right up until my 18th birthday,he never let me get one before that, thank god, i wanted some pretty goofy shit in my teen years.
I grew up around mechanics and drunks with tattoos and I always saw them as marks of stupidity. Then one day I came across the most georgous chick, about 5' 0" tall around 110 lbs with dark brown almost black hair blue eyes and an amazing celtic knot that accented every beeutiful curve of her back and ass.
Been hooked ever since.
I grew up in a sheltered religious community so I only had contact with one person that had tattoos as a kid. My great uncle was a WWII navy veteran and had some very faded blurry sailor ladies on his forearms. I thought they were awesome and he was cool too. The other think I remember about him is that one summer he had to wear a hair peice cause he burned the hell out of his bald head.
for me, the earliest tattoo work that had an impression on me was the indian sailor in the movie Moby Dick, I was about 5 yrs old when I seen it, I remember thinking it was very cool, and yet kinda scary.
also though, I did grow up around alot of inked up guys, my dad was in a very large bike club, and back then everyone had lots of work on them, some of it was good, alot of it was ugly jail-house work. I recall telling a guy named beer-keg that I was going to be a tattoo artist when I grew up, I think I might have been 10 at that time
