My Apprenticeship Quest

10 messages · last activity 8/12/2007

I'm Trying to become an apprentice in Chicago somewhere, at one of the many shops in Chicagoland. I'm coming here to see if I should really push for this, or just forget about it. Here are some of my drawings I have been working on the past few weeks. I have found these images online and I have freehanded them. I didn't trace anything. Thanks for taking the time and I hope to hear some good things. Thank You
I'm sorry I'm so used to the IMG link on photobucket I just used that instead of the tag one. So here they are and sorry for the screw up.
love the pissed-off koi!
Thank you.
I really like your drawings. If you can handle one piece of advise....your shading on your dice prolly shoud go all the dame direction. What I like to do is imagine a ray of light or sunshine on my paper...and then shade all in the same direction as the "shadows" would fall.....if this helps you, I am glad to have been of some help
Thanks! That little bit of information does help. I'm not the greatest with shading, and the dice are alittle screwed up anyways. It isn't my best drawing and it's not my worst either.
not to be rude bro but you're gonna need alot more polished work then that to attract the attention of a mentor. and you'll need alot of diversity in your work as well. finding an apprenticeship is not easy and the average person won't find one .you have to really put together something impressive in an art portfolio to make it worth an artists time to teach you. if you're serious about an apprenticeship then keep working on your drawing skills till you can draw anything , and well! you said that shading is your weak spot ,well shading is what makes or breaks any good tattoo. work on your skills and put the hours in and you'll be surprised at how many doors will open for you. but you gotta want it bad enough to work for it!! my honest opinion is that you have a ways to go yet. honest opinion
Oh you're not being rude at all. I know I need to draw a lot more to even have an artist even think about teaching me. I also paint and I have a few very good paintings to back me up on this. That's why I posted the word "Quest" in the title. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, and I know that I might not even get an apprenticeship, but atleast I'll know the outcome if I try.
