My friend did my tattoo and I'm afraid it's infected

Friday night, my friend did a small heart on the back of my shoulder with a compass (used for mathematical purposes) and ink used for silk screening. I know it was a really dumb thing to do, but aside from that. I need to figure out the better way to take care of it. I don't know if it needs special care because of the method used to create it, I just need to know what i should do, now. I kept it covered the first couple of days, I apply antibacteria ointment on it around three times a day and I let it air out lately, but still have the ointment on it. I am really afraid that it's going to get infected, and quite frankly, i don't want to die. Please help me, if you can.
