Need a Critic

5 messages · last activity 10/31/2008

Hey what's up. Well I posted that my dad and I were going to be opening a shop...it's a long story, search for opening shop questions if your curious. But anyways, some things changed and now we don't have to take that route. It worried me deeply anyways. So now I am on a venture to get an apprenticeship. I have about 100 drawings or so in a binder that is set up nice and neat as my portfolio, but I want it to be amazing when I walk in. There is one place in particular I would like to apprentice at, but there are about 6 shops around here. Toledo OH. My questions are should I go in the places I don't really want to be at just to check to see if my portfolio ius worth a damn. (But that's kinda rude). Or do I just take my hopefully not only shot at the place I would love to start at. Also if there would be anyone that would be willing to check out some of my artwork and let me know if it's any good. Like if your an artist think would I give this dude an apprenticeship if he gave me this. That's the kinda opinion I am looking for. Thanks Aaron
Feel free to email me anything you have for honest and constructive criticism. click on my name for email.
why dont you post a few drawing and get a few opinions here?
There's tons of critics here! People will be honest and helpful. Post pics! If you think the shop is seedy and it's not an establishment you'd want to work at, I'm not sure if it's really worth it to go in and get their opinion. In any trade really, would you go to someone you think does a bad job to critique you? Probably not. Stick to the shops you're comfortable with, and you think do a good job. I think this is a much better idea than trying to open the shop with you're dad. Good luck!
Arg to myself again for continuously using the wrong form of "you're/your" on this forum. Sheesh.
