I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, and hope if it isn't that someone can point me in the right direction.
I am trying to get information on how to price and grade some vintage original flash sheets (just learned this is what they are called) from the 1930's. The sheets came from a tattoo shop that was located near the Brooklyn Navel Yards/Coney Island in NY. They are dated and signed.
We bought these as art, and even though the price was high, I am thinking we got a great deal, but I cannot find anything online similar except for one guy selling one sheet on ebay for $1K and another girls blog referencing an antique fair with sheets at $200. each.
I have 12 sheets, of which four are a little faded and probably not worth too much.
Can someone help? If I decided to keep them and started to collect vintage tattoo items and equiptment, where would I look?
TIA
Lauri

Im shure he will be able to help you
Lyle Tuttle could very well be interested in these for his tattoo museum, just google his name and email him.
Do you know the artist? Its also worth contacting VintageTattooFlash.com.
Wow...had a whole long post typed out and hit post and lost it...
I did send an email to Tattoo Archives, but have not rec'd an answer, so I do appreciate the other contacts.
I just found the artist this morning...apparently someone wrote a book about him and this is how I found him. The flash is signed Stoney...which was his tattoo name...we were told Stoney from Coney (Island), but there was also some mention of shipping yards...which is why I put both references in my original post.
He also signed his name L. St Clair, but there are other letters preceding this...we had thought it was part of his name, but it might possibly be just the title of the drawing....which is probably why I had no success looking up his formal name....
If it is the same one, and I would think that it would be, then he was a sideshow tattoo artist born in 1912, which would make him 20 years old when he did the drawings...
If the additional information above gives someone an idea as to other avenues I can explore, I would love to hear from you. I would be more then happy to post a link to a photo if that is allowed...
Thanks again,
Lauri
STONEY ST. CLAIR!!!
Holy crap...
Stoney knows how
Stoney knows how vids etc
I have no idea how much they are worth, but this is beyond cool! :D
WOW!!!
Stoney is def a part of tattooing history...what a find....we have a history of Stoney on www.tattooconnect.com, check it out
WOW!
I am speechless, and if you knew me...that is pretty much a miracle.
Thanks for all the links...I haven't gotten a chance to read everything and see all the video, but what I did see was amazing. What a really cool guy and what an interesting story...not to mention a little piece of NY history....
I took a few photos and cropped them...hope this works as I am going by the instructions in the how to post thread in here...
this is one of my favorites even though it has some damage...some can't be fixed but some is just heavy duty adhesive that I am not brave enough to remove myself...
