Hey everyone. My dad passed away about a week ago and I want to get a memorial tattoo in his name, but I'm trying to decide what I want it to look like. I've been trying to find some flash to get some ideas on memorial tattoos on the net, but all I can find is the 9-11 memorial tattoos. If ANYONE can find a place with some memorial flash PLEASE email it to me, it would be a great deal of help!! Thanks,
Sarah

I would suggest finding a custom tattoo artist who can draw up a memorial tattoo custom for you. Think about some images that remind you of your father, and talk with an artist who can take your ideas and transform them into a vivid custom tattoo. finding a great artist is a lot harder, and way more important in this case, than finding flash. Where do you live?
For the answer to your question of where i lived, i live in central Minnesota, but might be getting it at Altered Image Studios in Indiana.
Hey - my great grandmother passed away a few years back, however, when she did, I was able to give her a hug goodbye for closure. I was the only one able to do so, and because of this, her and I have a special bond. I, too, am having a hard time finding memorial flash. Indeed, I was moved by all of the 9-11 tats I've come across, they aren't what I'm looking for. I don't want to find "the" tattoo I want, I just want to see what's out there, and maybe one will spark an amazing idea, because I want to be the final creator of this. I have my artist picked out, I've met him, seen his work, emailed back and forth, and he says he's got some ideas for me. I have to wait until late October for age reasons. Won't be 18 until the 24th, but please, please, if you have any sites, contact me. Thanks and good luck.
I am in the same situation, my father passed away and I want to get a tattoo in memory of him, and I want to design my own. So far I'm still thinking, I don't turn 18 for about a year, but the only one I like I've come up with so far was a cross with an Italian flag draped across (he was Italian) and then I can't decide but I want something, either a teddy bear, or a little crying girl or something holding the bottom of the cross, like sitting beside it with her arms around it. I was thinking adding words like I love you in Italian but I'm not sure yet.
I am in the same situation. My father Jerry was killed last Monday (OCt 6 2003) in a car accident on the NJ Turnpike. And I desperatly want memorial tattoo ideas. One thing I am definanly getting is the date of his birth and the date of his death (June 8 1950 to Oct 6 2003) done in Old Englich letters as a wrist band. But I want another one. Had any luck finding something?
Where abouts do you live? I would work with a custom artist to design and tattoo a quality tattoo. Memorial tattoos are obviously very special.
I am looking for a tattoo idea in memory of 2 people. My sister was killed by her boyfriend in 2000 and in April of 2003 my 21 year old nephew was shot to death. I am trying to find some way to combine the 2 (they are mother and son) into one tattoo but everything I can find is so guady and morbid. Anyone got any ideas???
Perhaps a nice memorial might entail their birth flower with either their names or their dates either written below or worked into the foliage?
my dad died when i was 15, i just turned 18 last november and wanna get a tattoo in memory, but im lost for ideas. i would appreciate some advice too! thanks<3
my mother passed away in november of cancer, and in march i am getting a tattoo. ihad an idea of a cross with wings and angles at the bottom with a banner wrapped around it saying in loving memory of mom but i also want to other ideas before i get that, does any one have any ideas
thanks

My dad passed away about 3 years ago last weekend, and after this happened I decided I wanted to do the same. My mom wasn't going to consent (I'm from IL), so when I came up to school in MN I got it done...
My tattoo is of the Superman symbol with my father's initials in place of the S on the ball of my right shoulder. I really like it cuz it's kinda symbolic that he was and still is a "hero" figure in my life. Lots of compliments. Just wish I would've gotten it bigger now.
I really want to get another one with the same theme. Tatts without meaning just piss me off. If anyone else came across ideas, please let me know. Let me know what you think of mine too!
~Steve

Sorry to here of everyone's loss'. I had a very close friend pass away in December, I never got the chance to give him one finalhug, or tell him I love him. I miss him so much. My heart is broken and I fear that I might forget parts of him as time passes. I want a tattoo in remembrance of him so he will be with me forever in another way until we meet again. If you can help, it would be great. Thanks.
Both of my parents were killed in a car accident about a month ago and I want to get a tattoo for them. I have been looking at BMEZINE.com and searching mom and dad. I have found some very good ones. I want to get two hearts, one with mom and one with dad in it and each heart will have angel wings.
I just want to remind everyone to make sure you find the best artist possible for memorial tattoos. Custom artists can really bring out the feeling in their artwork, and these are the most special of tattoos...
I am a Custom freehand designer/tattooist of 27 yrs. My name is Dave Storm, I am available for private appts. my rates are negotiable. and flexible, but conditional to your budget. Creating a custom memorial, requires a skillful minds eye. with combined exp. I am the one to heal your soul. (305) 333-7242.

a majority of tattooist are not artist, or worst believe that they are. it would take 2 sittings to pull off a decent portrait the size of your palm. if they cannot show you portrait work at least in another medium. run away. there are only 3 choices: portrait, personal symbolism, or combination thereof. good portrait artists are rare, bad ones are common. unless you have an 'eye' for art get a second opinion.
Hi.My name is Jasmine. My goddaughter died about a week ago and I want to get a tattoo of memory. I know that I want it to say R.I.P. with her name. and her birthdate and the day she passed. She was only 5 1/2 weeks old so I want something that reminds people she was a baby. I'm thinking about getting a cross but not sure. If anybody has any ideas if you could e-mail me at [email removed] I would really appreciate it.
I would take these ideas /feelings to anyone at Darkside Tattoo (Lou, Nick, Any, Johnny, any of em). They will create a custom tattoo from your ideas and tattoo the perfect memorial tattoo.
just go to the local tatto shop, but check around and see who does the best work, and they should help ya out. they'll be more than happy to work with ya on something ~
I comletely understand what youre saying. I recently lost my 2 year old nephew and his mother in a car accident and I really would love to get a tattoo in remembrance of them. The idea of having a permanent reminder of them on my body is comforting. I loved them both so much so I feel as though I need to get the best tattoo I can. I am an artist so I was kind of hoping to design my own to make it more personal, but if anyone has any suggestions though, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.
shane oneil is near philly, and is fantastic at protraits (and other styles). Just make sure you go to a world class tattoo artist.
I am also in the same boat as every one else on this page... my best friend... my grandfather passed away in Nov... i am also tryin to find a memorial tattoo for him for my right outer ankle... i need help.. i have had some ideas but i feel i'm looking for something more... something more meaningful
how about a portrait of you father.megan at www.cactustattoo.com is very good with realistic tattoos.and in indiana, check out www.montetattoo.com and st.marq,at www.paintedsouls.com
I would look for tattoo artist styles. If you choose a good custom tattoo artist, they will take your memories and feelings and reference and put it into a unique memorial tattoo design. Take a peek at our artist roster to look at portfolios of tattoo artists in your area. Its worth taking a drive to someone whos style you love and would fit the tattoo you see in your head.
hey unluvedd3 get something that you and your grandfather maybe did together.ie.like fishing, going to the shore.check out rich and chris,at www.immortalink.com they are really good artists, and nice people as well.
I recently lost my boyfriend of 5 years in a motorcycle accident. I really want to get a tattoo in memory of him. If anyone can help me please email me [email removed]. My Dad has been gone for almost nine years. I have been thinking about the tattoo that I want to remeber by. I think that you need to think of something or a great memory that would make a great tattoo. My Dad and I were into horses. But we had one particular horse that we loved. I have a picture of that horse and I am going to use the head of the horse and going around it with a tribal. On the tribal will be yellow roses. My Dad loved yellow roses. That is my answer to you. Find something that you will always remember him by.
I lost my dad almost 2 years ago and even though I was with him when he passed I have had a very difficult time letting him go. I am looking for a tattoo involving a pixie/fairy as that was his nickname for me. I need this to be able to let him go and carry on with life with my 3 children that adored him. I would appreciate any websites that you have. And I also relate and sympathize with each of you.
First off soooo sorry for your losses...all of you!
What you guys should be doing, especially for such a special tattoo, is finding a competent custom tattoo artist in your area to design a one up tattoo just for you...if ya yell us where you are from we can definately recommend a great artist neaqr you!!..
Thanks for your post and good tattooing!...TAz, Painted Angel
I am having the same problem as most of you. Sorry to all for your losses. My grandmother and I were very close, and she passed away a couple of years ago. I have been searching for a couple of years now for the perfect tattoo. If any ideas you can email me back at [email removed]. Thanks for the help
Folks, Sorry for your loss's I for sure know how you feel, as my father was killed a few months before my 7th birthday, He was a terrific father, and even at that young age I have very vivid memories of him even now (I'm 43) i believe throughout my life he has had an eye on me and protected me from harm (He worked overtime on that:-) ) I am not into Angel's and Memorials like normal people, I have just put a Gargoyle on my Arm to symbolize his protection and strength in me, along with his initials to provide a living memorial and my respect to this man. This is a very personal decision, and I know alot of people do a memorial soon after thier loved one passes on, but for me it took almost 25years to pay tribute to a Faather whom I still feel in my heart today. Take your time, and find the right one for you.
Blacktri
Of course I am sorry for the loss all of you have endured...however you have been given all the information you need right here on this post...several times over....no one can just give you the design you need...you won't find it on the internet...consult with a custom tattoo artist ...bring him/her some ideas...what your loved one loved what they did , what and who they were....its our job as custom artists to develop designs from raw thoughts that come from YOU the client....read Gabes first reply on this post...and actually try reading the rest of the thread instead of asking the same question over and over....the answer is right in front of your eyes!!!!...T

Very sorry folks. your best bet will always be to find a good custom artist to take some images and create a unique memorial tattoo. Check the tattoos by state galleries to see tattoos from artists who live and travel to your state.
