I have two daughters myself and if I had it to do all over again, I would tattoo their handprints on me. A friend of mine did it and it looks great! Good Luck!
Yea, lets all get matching tattoos in a language we don't understand to symbolize something really important to us! For all you know the symbols you'd be tattooing on yourself for like could mean "stupid american". I'm just joking about that, but honestly, congi tattoos (japanese symbols) are the most played out unoriginal tattoo you could ever get. If you want to look ridiculous and be the " I got a tattoo just to say I got one" stereotype, then go ahead. Honestly, you should'nt be asking others to suggest a tattoo to symbolize your daughter and your love for her anyway. I mean, jesus, a heart with a banner through it and her name on it is simple enough and it fits what you're looking for. It doesn't take a lot to think of something like that. Again, the heart with a banner is not exactly original, but I imagine it would mean more to you than some symbol that you don't understand. Maybe if you really had an appreciation for the asian culture and were really into it I would understand, but otherwise it is just stupid. Get something you like and that reminds you of your daughter. Oh, and most importantly, to all those who feel that your tattoo needs to have some deep meaning behind it....it doesn't have to. If you like something you want to get, then get it. I hate this whole miami ink watching mentality where everyone feels they have to have some massive backstory behind the tattoo they are getting.
It does not matter what opinions others may have, it is YOUR tattoo , not theirs. although kanjis are a pretty popular tattoo and it is hard to really know if that is what it means. any thing that might symbolize you and your child would make a great idea for a tattoo. just really do some heavy research before you make your decision on what to do, artistic stuff like a nice angel or a fairy is usually something you are more apt to like other than something cliche like a kanji or tribal. the internet is a huge place , you are bound to find something you like somewhere on here, or even have an artist draw you a nice one of a kind custom piece, something noone else will have but you. good luck with your tattoo.
I have two children a 4yr old son and an 8yr old daughter. My daughter was born with a rare birth defect that has limited her and the things that she can do. What i did for my tattoos is i always wanted my kids to be free when there were born to be able to live life to its fullist and then when we found out about my daughter i have excepted that thats not possible for her in many ways. So on one ankle i have a butterfly with blue red and green for my son with his name in cursive above it and then my other ankle i have a the same butterfly with pink purple and white with her name above it in cursive. For me it shows the freedom that I would like them both to have and they both call them there tattoos and love them. This way i always carry them with me. Hope this helps
I just got a tat that has my daughters foot prints with her first and middle name in cursive and her birthday on the bottom. you should keep it original. other people may have their childs foootprints tated but no one has MY daughters prints...ya know what i mean?
Hi, i'm currently trying to find a cool design for my shoulder which will be covering an old one. I have a daughter and am thinking of something which symbolizes this. Her name is Chloe which means 'to blossom' therefore i am thinking of getting some sort of flower (not sure which yet, i'm currently trying to find one that maybe reflects a mother daughter bond of some sort or children etc). I did think of her birth flower, however that would be the daffodil which i dont think would make a fetching design. Both our zodiac sign is pisces so i'm thinking of maybe having water around the flower. An other idea that i;ve thought about is, after doing some research my daughters name is also tied to an the greek goddess demetra, godess of fertility, marraige and agriculture. However think this could be taking things to far.. any suggestions welcome :) I want my design to be very intricate with lots of detail in black, grey and lots of shading. After having made a huge mistake with the current tattoo that i have, i am making sure that this tattoo will be of a huge symbolic nature. In regards to the whole chinese lettering and so on, my personal belief is that they are unoriginal, you may never know what it truly means and they can tend to look dated. But it is each to their own and if that's what you want then go for it, just think VERY carefuly! I've made a mistake that i've had to live with for a long time.
Hi, I got a tattoo about a year ago for my daughter. It's a purple petunia and has a sash like item going thru the middle with her name in it. I picked a petunia because that is what my sister called her when she was a baby. It's on my right foot. It's pretty big though so not sure how big you are wanting to go. That was my 3rd Tat and the biggest so far. I'm getting 2 more in the next few months, one for the daughter I'm getting ready to have and another one in chinese or japanese for the meaning of family as my family is very important to me. Just make sure no matter what you get you can live with it for the rest of your life!
i'm in same boat! desp want my first tatt to symbolise my 4yr boy and 2yr old girl. could get celtic family knot but as i'm english (not required welsh, scot, irish for celtic design) would seem bit silly. I and no one i know can read japanese symbols so i'm thinking elephants!! not very womanly design but elephants have VERY strong family bonds within their herds ,and it is said they would die for their young.say no more. i may get a tribal type design of mother ele with a baby either side top middle of back. or mummy leading her young (tail/trunk as they do) across bottom of back. Could also do mother ele and two babies 3 trunks entwined! i dont know, what do u all think ? have i gone bonkers and it look silly?!!!!!
I have to agree with what was being said earlier about not knowing what kanji tattoos mean. As an example see http://blog.pygmygoat.net/archives/284 Someone has had some kanji tattooed on their shoulder which whether they know it or not actually reads "Stupid Foreigner". I wonder if they took the tattoo in themself or if it was something that was on one of the big flash boards most tattoo parlours have.
My HB just gave a friend thier daughters hand print....One in each "peck" Pectoral muscles...very nice.
That is somthing that may take a little bit . if you want to put somthing on your body like that . take your time with it . search out artist in your area . I am a mother of one daughter , my only child . she is 9 years old with a wild mind . She told me what she wants me to do . So it means something to the both of us . take your time . you will love the resultes.
