new tattoo. ? about caring on vaction outdoors

Hey, I had my 1/4 sleeve started yesterday on my upper left arm. It includes 3 lotus flowers for now. My question is based on this. Today I am going away for a few days to NH to do some hiking and horseback riding. So i will be exposed to sun and dirt. And I was told not to expose my tattoos to the sun, obviously, and if i wear a long sleeve shirt, not only will i be hot, but the fabric will stick to the tattoo causing it not to breathe, which isn't good either. I was at CVS and saw that they had these Non Stick Medical Pads, that you can apply over wounds, but they dont directly stick to the wound itself. I was wondering, if this is something I should do for the times I am outside in the sun/mountains. I dont want my new tattoos to have dirt stuck on them from hiking, nevermind my sweat and the sun beating down on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, seeing that i leave in a few hours! :o) -Mae
