new tattoo and exercise

3 messages · last activity 4/18/2006

I just got a full shoulder tattoo this past Friday..some old school Japanese style wind bars, clouds and cherry blossoms..anyway, I work out frequently and much of that is weightlifting. I of course planned on taking this week off to get through stage 1 of the healing process and I am already almost over the "tender to the touch" stage. My question is when would it be ok and non detrimental to the healing process to return to my exercise routine? thanks
I always suggest to keep heavy physical activity to a minimum for at least a week...anything after that should pose no problem at all...TAz
ok heres what i say week one i want ya to pump burns all week keep it light and dont i repeat dont over exlierate ok week 2 lets not over do this combine light burn with medium work out mix it up the way ya want but go light burn medium in that order week 3 balls to the wall but just as long as youre not doing any dead lifts or heavy squats keep those medium for another week feel free to keep in touch with me during this process and come in so i may see said tattoo and make sure we are not ripping any skin and causing further damage thanks and enjoy. those are what i tell my physical/weight lifting folks and it seems to have great repor and healing.best of luck ( don)
