Basically, I am allergic to nickel and I am looking to get tattooed. I have been researching, reading Material Safety Data Sheets, and trying to find out all the info I can on nickel being in any tattoo ink(s) or pigment(s), but I keep getting lots of different answers/advice on the subject. Please help me out.

nickel, chromium, copper , cobalt, and very low levels of mercury, some forms of black ink even have lead.
Westley Wood, president of Unimax Supply Co. in New York, a manufacturer of tattoo supplies, said there "have never been any real problems" with tattoo ink. Westley also said there are heavy metals in Unimax inks, but the amounts are very small. He said the problem is that no one can agree on how to measure the toxicity of tattoo ink.
