nickel or chrome plate

i have som old irons i would like to chrome or nickel plate but im unshure what that would do with the eletric and magnetic flow. anyone here who knows something about this? sorry for my bad english, hope you understand

Hey man, I would not recommend doing anything over an iron rather than powder coat, oil treatment or blacken. This is just personal preference though . If you chrome the machine I would recommend you grind the part where the coils mount to ensure a correct linkage. Best thing to do is to polish the frame and do some nice heat treatment. You can do that by buying some blow torch at home depot and get yourself some thin motor-oil. Make sure you protect your arms and face (and everything else) since some times the can can catch fire. Do it outdoor. Blow the thing until it gets red (for a rich black color) and then sink the frame in the can of oil. Use some pliers or secure the frame with a metal wire. You can repeat the process a few time until the look is desired. If you want to do a blue heat treatment, do the same but blow the frame really fast and wait until the oxygen turn it blue (it usually take one second or two). Then deep on a light oil. This effect takes some practice to master but it looks sick I did that one this machine:

Thanks for the reply, i will try out your method on a old frame i have so i dont ruin those i use at work, some of the reason i wanted tho chrome or nickel plate my frames is because they look alot cleaner if you know what i mean?
