Odd Placement

25 messages · last activity 9/18/2006

I've posted this before on another forum, and have yet to get an answer. The posters here seem to be on top of things (and have a great sense of humor!), so I'll ask here! I've been planning my first tattoo for a few months. I've settled on a design (an airplane doing an aileron roll) and a placement, as well as an artist who is going through my version of "inspection" (I'm quite picky). My question is this: the tattoo will be on my right hip, just at underwear-line, crossing from back to front. Any ideas on what I should wear while getting it and while it's healing? Feedback would be appreciated!
I have no idea...but I want to know too! That's a question I had yet to think of for getting my own work done! Someone answer! :)
Rannegs, Well congrats on soon to being one of the tribe! The answers to your questions are pretty common sense. When you go to have it done wear something comfortable, ie sweat shorts, or something that has a loose waist band. And as far as the undee's go, once again, something comfortable. I guess if you are brave enough you could always go commando, but I don't think that will count as a tip... *lol* While it's healing the same would apply. As comfortable as you can get away with. It would probably be a good idea to, for the first two days, to have some sort of barrier (sp?) between your clothes and you tattoo. You could use saran wrap but make sure that you, when you can, remove it every once in while to clean your tattoo as well as let it breathe. After that you should be okay. Just make sure to follow the aftercare instructions of you artist as I am sure if you ask them the same question they will give you some info as well. Best of luck and please let us know how everything turned out!....J
ooooohhh! I'm in love with fighter jets! what kind of plane are you getting, if you don't mind me asking? I would love to see a pic when you're done. good luck!!
I just paid a visit to my artist today, and he suggested an old pair of shorts that we could cut up the leg to provide easier access than pulling up or down. Then when I get the other side done, I can wear the same pair of shorts, only backwards! ... now I just have to find some shorts I can live without........ I'm not so much into fighter jets as just general aviation airplanes and antiques. The ones going on my hip are biplanes. Shorts or no, any other suggestions would be great! (I'm rather attached to my shorts)
well definately loose clothing for healing. if your a female, I would suggest a thong, or bikini, havent met a tattooist yet that couldn't appreciate a lady in a thong. if your not a female, a pair of boxer/briefs split all the way up to the waist band. and if your discustingly fat....dont wory about it, im sure your rolls will cover everything you haven't seen in decades. eheheheh.......... good luck on your new piece Mortis
Mortis, it is not nice to label....but my God i am still laughing....

Yes, I am female. And not disgustingly fat, at least in my opinion. ;-)
I'm with Mortis. I think a nice pair of thigh highs with a black leather mini would be very appropriate, and if your tattoo artist doesn't appreciate it Im sure I WOULD!!!! (lol) Oh, you meant something that won't hurt?
So I should wear 4" heels too? ;-) With the stockings and the mini? (do I HAVE 4" heels?!? lol)
...Tim, I know you are reading....hehehe! Sorry, I had to go there. Kinda like one of those in memory things! =P
Since you asked, the answer is yes, and them little black bows at the top of the thigh highs would be nice too. But would that affect comfort?? Oh well.

Oh, the ones with the little black bows are my favorite! ;-)
Ok, I did it! Well... not the airplanes, and not the thigh-highs with the black bows, but I got my first tattoo today! Nothing too challenging, a gull followed by the words "It was a love of the air and sky and flying" over my left hip. (The right is still reserved for airplanes, of course). More painful towards the front, but not too bad (as I'm sure all of you know). Will post a pic when it heals a little, if anyone's interested.
Congrats young lady!!! Get us a pic as soon as ya can...and a pic of the tattoo also!!...I like those bows too!...TAz
Okay, here goes with the pictures...
Ah, I found it....

Took my tattooed hip over to the tattooer this afternoon, just for a 'checkup' to make sure it was healing right... It is! :-)
I like the quote. Wheres it from?
And the tattoo looks lovely
The quote is from Charles Lindbergh (or possibly his wife)... The full quote (that I have seen) is "It was a love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty."
It's nice to have people come back to show us how everything went.... congrats on the new tattoo....now about those thigh highs and heels....
Okay, I'm back from a mini-vacation, and while I was away, I thought up a question! I would like to know if there's a better way to keep script looking nice. I realize I'll have to get it touched up after a few years, but in the meantime... Anything I can do to keep it legible?
