Oh, Taz, I keep forgetting to tell you this, and it has nothing to do with tats, but on your acoustic guitars, you have GOT to try this new kind of strings.... I'm an Elixer or D'Addario Extended Play guy, but the other day, I got ahold of a set of Dean Markley Alchemy "GOLD" strings which is like Dean Markley's answer to Elixers, and I gotta tell ya bro, those strings have made my $900 Tacoma sound like a $3000 Taylor. Un freaking believable, beautiful, beautiful sound. If you can't get em for some wierd reason, let me know... I'll send you a set. You won't belive it.

I own 6 acoustics and have the Markleys on 3...on the other 3 I use fender Brights...depending on the sound I want...the markleys are too shimmery for live situations but are great for controlled recording since I can use equalization to deharmonize the excess harmonic overtones....the "overtones if you will....Elixirs were designed for lazy fucks who don't like to "burn in" their strings and don't want to change them regularly...I find them very dull...almost the exact opposite of the Markleys...when using Elixirs on an electrified acoustic they are simply too dull and make an otherwise good acoustic sound like the 99 dollar jobs you can buy at walmart unless you are going direct to the primary board then you can dial out the brassiness by desensitizing the upper mid and lower high freqs but then ya are going to lose an excessive amount of the natural harmonics that make an acoustic an acoustic especially when performing anything composed with a lot of myxolydian scale properties....They just piss me off! D'Addario Phosphor-Bronze are also a great acoutic string as long as you don't go with too light a guage then they sound way too BRASSY Ya know/ Thanks for the hint Al ...I appreciate it man!!!...T

TAz, I gotta argue with you on one point: Not all people who use Elixir strings are lazy assholes that don't want to take the time to 'burn' in their strings. How do I know this? Because those are the only strings that I can use! I have a wicked allergy to metal, and if I play on regular strings for more than 10 minutes, my fingers get all gross, itchy and nasty. I have to use them, because of that nano/polyweb coating that they have. Otherwise, I can't play for like 2 weeks while my fingertips go back to normal. (Although... I'm sucking that up for the moment, cause we just added a 57 Goldtop to our inventory this past week...and I really wanna play it....it is B-E-A-UTIFUL!)

But dear there are other strings besides the Elixir that are polymer coated!!!

Darling, It would help if you would give me a name.. or something. :o) That way, l can give them a try! And honestly, I didn't know there were other brands that had the coating on the strings. Off the subject.... What do you know about drums?

Hey now Taz, You have offended me. :( I use Elixirs on all my basses simply for two reasons: 1. I don't use a pick and they don't tear my fingers up like regular strings. 2:Bass strings cost at least 35.00 as set..Elixirs cost 50 bucks but they last me a whole year! So there.

Aw now don't pout!...I was talking about acoustic strings not bass strings...I have elixirs on all my basses for the same reason as you dear!!!

No///Amgel eyes is talking about elixir BASS strings NOT acoustic AL ol pal!!! And I agree elixirs are easier on the fingers as long as ya don't mind the 3 year old string sound!...For bass its a completely different story!!

I know this is going to sound bizzare, but I use Ernie Ball super slinky's on my Alverez acoustic, ya, I know they are intended for electrics, but the sound I get out of them is great, not to mention, they are durable as hell, they take alot of abuse. Mortis
