I'm a 15 year old from the bay area, and have been interested in tattoos for some time. I've been thinking about trying to gain an apprenticeship, and after a couple of years, open my own shop. I'd like to know if tattooing would bring in a sufficient pay, and how much it would pay per month/year. Also, how much would starting a shop cost to open, and maintain? And how much would that rake in? :D thanks a lot folks.

can't imagine you'd be good enough after just a couple years to open a successful shop. You might not want to even waste your time if your just looking to make money.
The pay scale for tattoo artists/shopowners goes from nada to a shitload.
Depends on your talent, and how much you put into it. Some artists arent that great, but are sucessful through hard work and long hours, some artists are amazing, but lazy. There's all kinds, and all levels of success.
Read through the archives of the messageboard. Lucky for you the path to being a great tattoo artist means getting lots of amazing tattoos from the best artists. Good luck, and keep drawing!
