Pain: By Hand Vs. Machine

I'm preparing to get my first tattoo on my lower back and have started to look for an artist to collaborate with. I've found this amazing guy who tattoos by hand (without a machine) and his artwork is incredible. I've heard this can be a lot less invasive and gentler than a tattoo done with a machine, is this true? Apparently there's a lack of skin trauma with little to no bleeding and they heal faster. I've also heard that it's less painful than a machine, though a lot more time consuming. Any opinions would be truly appreciated.

Also, does anyone know if colour can be used in a hand-pricked tattoo? I haven't been able to find any examples.

didn't you said you find a great artist that does "Tebori" I am assuming that this amazing artist should have some color in his portfolio.? Let us see some of your work and this amazing artist. I am curious now.

My good friend does a lot of tattoo by hand, she is very excellent artist. one kind of problem with tattoo by hand is that ink can fade in time. I think machine is mechanical so push ink deeper in skin and is even.

i do hand tattoos they rock less pain take longer look realy solid and nice have done very many old school and japanese inspired colour looks sweet less scab less ink loss my m8 slept a lot while i was doing his back piece tops of feet kill by machine and shoes kill for a week not when u have em done by hand if you want an example of how good they look email me and i will send you some pics of my tats.i also do machine tats and they rock too pain is good for the soul hand tattoos do have a type of pain but its a lot less sudden and traumatic. hope whatever you choose you get a good artist there is a pretty decent looking hand tattooer in brighton that i know of at temple tatu. and also zed le head can be found online and tatu pier who was at brighton but is now back in south africa also cory ferguson of canada and me phil of huddersfield.hahahah....good look peace love phil of heddersfield cloud 9 tattoo.......
