PLAIN AND SIMPLE INFO

Allright this is for all the so called "scab artists" " kitchecn magicians" "Pros" and "vets" . And for god's sake answer some questions, you can't stop a scabber if that's what you prefer to call them and you can't hold back a devoted artists. We all started on the ground and most of us will never reach the top but we can find our pinnacles and that's what it's all about. Hitting our highs without hurting anyone on the way. Old fellas look out there's some young virile youths with talent you haven't dreamed of coming up. Younger folks , best to keep those egos under control and learn what you can from the great old timers before they're gone. We all love this industry , truthfully or we'd not even be at a site such as this. What I believe needs to happen is a conglomeration of sorts, to help the newbies and to reteach, if you will, the Vets. Why use an autoclave versus a stovetop pressure cooker? What's an autoclave ? lol Who makes the best ink? What's the best set of coils to run for lining? Is there a better way to make patterns , besides the stencil machine? Do it for the industry you love. The money comes later.
Ok... I haven't been around the tattoonow community too long but I believe the standards still apply... so, here's some "plain and simple info" for whoever wants to listen. Get off of your ass and stop looking for easy outs on the internet. Build a kick ass portfolio of art work in all sorts of mediums. Shop it around. Get an apprenticeship. Get the answers to all of the above questions. Sure there's more to it than that... it's called drive. Motivation. A burning feeling that you were put here on this earth to tattoo and be the best that you can be at it. It's not easy, I just got my apprenticeship after 6 YEARS of going for it, and you know what I ate shit for a long time. You have to give respect in order to earn it. Especially as a tattoo artist.
plain and simple, draw your ass off for years while getting tattooed by the best and dont do a single tattoo until your mentor, who is an amazing tattoo artist themselves, lets you. Tattooing rewards patience and education greatly, and grave mistakes are very very easy to make difficult to fix. If you dont take this simple advice, then you will have lots of Karma to pay off. Almost all self taught tattoo artists wish they had concentrated on their art instead of tattooing before they were ready because they learned the hard way and realize its not the smartest and best way to do it. But hey, no skin off my back either way...
Well yes it IS skin off your back...You are the owner of a fine tattoo studio and you are heavily involved in this business therefore everytime a hack does a bad tattoo on a "victim" and that tattoo gets seen by the public it gives you,me and every other pro in the business a black eye. I know what you are saying...it doesn't affect you directly but it DOES affect you!
If ya noticed this was originally posted by a guy who goes by 'Princess' and made a lot of ranting about pros on another post. Again he refers to the 'industry' as a particpant when in reality he works out of his home, supplies needles to whoever, admits he's tattooing in an area were licensing is required (but he doesn't have) and basically seems to think all the pros are assholes 'cuz we won't hand out technical info to him and every other wannabe. He's the kind who's not about to listen to anyone who doesn't follow his dumb ass ideas, obviously there are a lot of them out there but I guess all we can do is TRY to educate them (although I'm 'old school' so I sometimes wonder if their parents had perhaps instilled some ethics, respect and humility into 'em, we wouldn't be having alot of these type post) But, I guess that'd be a whole other post. Just mho...Doc
Hey Doc ol pal! How ya doin tonight?...We were just fuggin SLAMMED today at the shop!...Normally Sunday is my "catch up and large project day" but they just kept comin in and throwin money at us today. Do you open on Sunday?
AAAAAwwwwwwwwwwww, the little guy is just trying to bond with some real live artists.......................it makes him feel as though he's really living his dream...............of being a real artist. Ya know, this kind of shit creeps into every corner of civilization. Punk ass kids who think their music is rebellious, and that's what is gonna sell.....................punk ass kids who think public streets are dragstrips (which is actually okay when I get to see one of em' kill themselves), why would tattooing be any different? Rebellion is so cliche'd, and yet it's soooo cool to act as such, at least until ya end up in a place where you're forced to be the conformist. TCE
Nope, 'only' open Mon-Sat, Sundays USED to be 'Family day' when it was, now it's just me and my son and Sunday's are usually spent doing all the crap I can't get done during the work week. Glad to hear biz was good today, hopefully, part due to the unlicenced shops being CLOSED down, I hope. Did they get 'em all or just a token few?...Doc
I wonder if other trades that have forums ( and I'm sure there are lots of em!) have this kind of asswipe demanding to learn trades on the net? Just wonderin.
He's one of those people that I think should accept the fact that he's an ass, and then kindly remove himself from the gene pool.
Poppy should have shot his half of him onto the headboard.........
Plain simple info.If it was so simple you would no it all.I have been tattooing for a while i am not at all famous but i do my best. At this point in my career i would not be comfortable asking technical questions to just anyone and i am a shop owner and i have completed my apprenticship a long time ago.To me its not the thing to do on the internet.Maybe go get some work from an artist you like get to no him or her and then maybe asked some questions. Its like me asking a professional cook whats your recipe it just does not work like that. Why should the artists work and develope there technique so they can give it away.Thats were the people that are starting out are looking in the wrong direction they think there is a magic list of answers but theres not ,what there is is what works for you and that can not be handed over it must be created as you grow as an artist you will be suprised at how many different ways you can put ink in skin.
Princess, Since no one else on here will tell you their secrets, I'll give you one of mine. Have you ever seen this artist who paints on huge canvas's by throwing paint into the exhaust stream of a jet engine? The results are totally random and abstract, and while not always visually appealing, I've often felt that the concept can be implemented into tattooing as well. So I had this idea (like Murphy said, many different ways)..........I thought 'What if I fill the skirt of an air gun pellet with tattoo ink, then shoot it into my clients skin, and then remove the pellet, what kind of pattern would it make?". I periodically presented the idea to clients at the shop where I worked, until finally, one of them showed great enthusiasm for my pioneering endeavor, and we set up an appointment to get started. Well, needless to say, the first time I tried it, the results were very abstract...................and, uh, different. I never got a chance to finish the piece, as apparently the customer didn't understand that more than one shot would be necessary to realize a complete work of art, and she wasn't willing to sit for a second pellet extraction from her chest. I know that this is a really great concept, and when I find a participant willing to sit through an entire session, I will post some pics for all to see. Until then, GET REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TattooGod
Now that's what I call a tattoo gun!!! TCE
Holy shit......one of the funniest things I've read..... *laughing my fucking ass off........*
UMMMMMMM......I WANT ONE
Hacks give this business a black eye every single day, and every single day we work very hard to educate and give the public about great tattoos. I dont ever expect the hacks to stop putting out crap, or that we will stop educating. While of course I wish the hackers would starve off, Im not gonna lose any sleep or worry about them too much. I think the next 5-10 years will find the trend of even more amazing artists coming out of the woodwork which in turn educates the public more and makes it that much harder for the hacks... I guess Id like to think that the tattoo community is pushing things upward and onward and that at this point hacks can do little to stop the progress. Of course, we do live in an uneducated scared repressed conservative society so I wouldnt be surprised at anything... When I say no skin off my back I mean that the hacks aren't gonna slow me down any...
I hope!
Gabe I want to sincerely thank you for that last post!...And I mean it!..Those words opened my eyes pal....You are so totally right!...That is the attitude I should have adopted long ago...instead of worrying about these unlicensed hacks I should be using that same time and energy to Celebrating all the new and exciting art out there!...My God hasn't this art come a long way in the past few years.....I found an old Tattoo mag from many years ago and looking at the art that was prevalent then I am just amazed at what we considered "world Class"back then I don't think I am gonna let people like old "princess Jer" lure me into debates anymore....its a waste...like you say they are always gonna be there and are they REALLY hurting us?....Maybe but only to a very small extent...somewhat like a mosquito on a cruise ship! Annoying but they are really just a minor thing! Thanks Gabe for opening these tired old eyes!...You are smarter than youy look!!!....TAz
I'm trying to get an apprenticeship right now so my opinion probably doesn't mean crap but I'm going to give my two cents. Allright this is for all the so called "scab artists" " kitchecn magicians" … Why on earth would you want any information from scab artists and kitchen magicians anyways. You obviously don't give a shit about anyone. Hey it's not my skin so I can fuck up anyone I like. I hope your tattoo machine goes Stephen King on your ass and tattoos a large penis on your face dumbass. Why don't you take the time to learn how to care for your fellow man as well as a little art appreciation.
Good post Jsilos!!
