please help! my foot tattoo is painfulf!

i got a tattoo on my foot and ankle on sunday. three pretty large butterflies, lots of color. my foot is EXTREMELY sore and swollen, expecially around my ankle. there isn't any scabbing yet but after being on my feet all day today some of the spots started seeping a bit of blood. i'm keeping it clean and moisturized and am even icing my ankle some to help the swelling. i have 4 tattoos in other various places and haven't had anything like this occur. i'm wondering if it's just a sensitive spot, prehaps. does anyone know if this is at all normal??

Tattoos done on the foot are notorious for swelling and throbbing pain for the first few days. In an ideal situation we try to encourage our clients to wait until they have a few days off work so they can stay off their feet, that helps immensely! If you can't stay off your feet altogether then as soon and as often as possible sit or lay with your feet elevated and stay off them as much as possible. If the pain and sweeling continues for more than 3 or 4 days you should see a doctor.

yeah, gravity is against your foot. Keep it up and open if you can.
