Putting Up

Ive Not done a tattoo in over a year. This OLD scratcher has about given up on breaking into this buisness. But heres some of my art anyway. This is a piece done on Synthetic skin as well as the next two:

OoOo. I like that...makes me feel like I suck, but eh, just got that much more work to do! For fun, I feel like putting up :)...Now, this is a lot darker than it should be, cause I had to take a picture of it with a camera to get it on here...I don't have a scanner yet...but yeah, you get the jist of it. I guess those are big pictures my bad , kinda shows all the flaws really bad , the shark thing i was trying for some likeness to what i've seen Deano Cook do on skin with the light shimmering on the skin of the shark itself . I'm happy with my first attempt at any rate , granted it's not on skin and shouldn't be. But I think I can pull it off right with practice.

Well I guess since we're posting pics and I'm hoping it's done via html. These are my wife's first three at a shop. The smokey demon skull was her interview piece, the ripping skeleton was on a friend(who paid half price), the shroom was a friend of a friend who paid full price.

The Clint is definitely not the worst thing I've ever seen... I've seen worse portrait work, for sure...

I just found a pile of OLD artwork.... I've been slowly scanning it and putting together an online portfolio. I did this one when I was 15 in pen and ink (based off a National Geographic cover). Its funny how much reptilian/amphibian art I'm finding from those days.. I didn't realize I did so much.:

i wish i could draw, i cant draw for shit, i get my girlfriend to draw my stuff for me, she,s a graphic designer, does bratz dolls/barbie etc. i think youre born with that ability i really do.

Thats all we do is freehabd Raz...I have never used a stencil in my life.....and most of MY work is TRUE freehand...needle to skin...Don't see that much these days!.... I guess we don't suck too bad....thanks for the props!

True freehand is an art in itself... It's just just drawing with ink and no eraser, except you can't tear it up and start over.

well, you could, but your client would be angry. And in the hospital. Free hand is one thing, doing a symetrical drawing is another, and then doing both into a peice that big. Good friggin hell, man!

Betty have one fake boob , someone broke her nose and her hair is purple, and I don't like the eyes much , but what else is wrong? My froggy have one bad eye , maybe a car accident idk, there's no glare either, frogs are shiny right?

Ok Jer...The girl should have more skin tone values in shading and none of the harder black as on her rib cage...her tail should have a smoother contour...eyes need more detail a shade to set them in...the frog piece lacks contrast between the branch it sits on and the body of the frog and needs a shimmer shiny effect with white Just my 2 cents...TAz

Yeah I thought I was fucking up with the black on the muscle contour but it don't erase lol , so I went with it. I was initially worried about the form which I think I captured fairly well, then it came time for the details and I fucked it off, especially with the face I feel. And I have to say it's good to hear criticism from guys like you and other artists that actually have an eye for art to begin with. Most the people I know don't know dick and say hell yeah that's hot and see no room for improvement and can't even begin to see flaws. Tahnks again ,

Taz, of course I know this isnt the limelight, its a website! And I know how long it takes to post pics(we post em every day!), now stop posting and get us some new ones! I guess it hasnt been years, but in internet time 2 pics in 6-8 months is just like years!

What part of "Id like to see more of your tattoos because your on this forum giving advice everyday" are you taking the wrong way? This Taz vs Gabe thing is getting old... If I want you to stop posting Ill tell you, if Im interested in seeing more of your tattoos because you give so much advice to my visitors then I will ask. Its not that big of a deal... Keep your images to yourself if you must, but how can people not think it odd that one of the most vocal artists on this site gets defensive when asked to see their work! For christs sake, I probably bug 1-3 artists a day to post their tattoos more often, your the only one whos delicate sensibilities are hurt...

Hell.. I don't even understand women.. so.. You're not alone in that arena.. I've loved frogs since I was a little kid though.. so yeah.. and snakes.. and such.. I have a really chubby goldfish named Pookie too.. Oh, on the woman.. the shape of the bottom of the breast is a little wonky.. I've never seen a woman's boobs do that.. and I've seen a lot of boobs due to women's locker rooms.. it goes in and then back out, it should be a little more round.

Here is one I did yesterday Gabe...you asked me to post some pics. I will post more when I get them all over to photobucket... Also concerning the frog being "shiny" I am studying some of Lee Hammonds books and recommends that you do you line work the lay down a base of "white" prismacolor (which will make it look milky) then go back over it using verithins by prismacolor...haven't tryed it yet but will VERY shortly...makes it look "wet" Mike

Oh, I did see where I wrote stop posting and get some images... I guess I meant that not wanting to post pics up is one thing, but you cant really use the how long it takes excuse. I definitely didn't mean to tell you what to do. I shoulda said if time is whats stopping you from uploading then you could pause posting for a half hour and get some new pics up... Basically, after all this time and conversation I really am genuinely curious and want to see the body of your work... If you dont want to you dont have to, no skin off my back, but by the nature of giving so much advice publicly you must understand that there will always be people wanting to see the tattoos behind the voice. You have a right to privacy, excuse me for intruding, but its always going to be hanging in the air until you let loose with the portfolio.

Here is the pic closer... As for "more" people around here don't have the $$$ for a large piece. I would have LOVED to add tumbleweeds, maybe a old wooden fence, mountains in the background, etc, etc....but again around here it is all about the cash. If anyone wants me to come work for them...shit, hit me up!! I am all about making the $$. I would be happy to spend time in some other studios...larger poplulations!! Mike

Mr Gabe...As I have said I will soon be posting a BUNCH of stuff Thats seriously NOT a problem but I am just the kind who won't be pushed PERIOD....For the past few years I have tried to step aside for the young guns and just was not concerned with showing my stuff....for YEARS i published my stuff in every magazine on earh and I just stopped...didn't feel the need...I don't even have a portfolio at the shop since almost all my work is custom stuff from people who already know me....then a couple weeks ago the issue came up and I stated no problem I will give you just what ya want...but I will do it in MY OWN time...If I had not been so sick for the past two weeks i probably already would have done so... I prefer PC art... this is my own personal pic for a future tat. Mine and my wife Chinese Zodiac (Yes I know it's Japanese and not Chinese Kanji)(They have different symbols for dragon) It has multiple underlying meanings personal to me besides just the symbols though. Tell me what you think
